We experienced racism, cockroaches, filthy rooms, no amenities. The pool is permanently closed. They have different prices depending on who you talk to. No late checkout available. Rude staff members who do not care about customer service. They clean rooms once a week. Leaky toilet and faucet they would not fix. This is a dive motel that takes advantage of local poor people who can't afford housing. Do not stay here ever. I have traveled extensively and this is the worst experience ever. We will be taking legal action.
Housekeeping stole from my room after the first night and didn't even clean the room. I was a guest there for about 4 weeks and there was a dead roach under sink until I finally ask for a broom and cleaned myself. The security would harass you while your unlocking the door to get into the building. I being a female is not going to stop for some man hollering at me from a vehicle with no visible sign of who they are. The man who work front desk in evening is very rude. The manager and Pete were both great as well as the 2 other ladies who worked there at front desk. Over all the housekeeping was my only major issue that was never corrected no matter how many times I went and told front desk
The condition of the room and the hotel leave a lot to be desired. The overall decor and cleanliness of each room fails. Cigarette Burns in all the furniture and an overall scent of mold is what you'll expect in each room. To prevent mold growth the hotel staff uses chlorine in a concentrated form to wipe it off the walls and ceiling. If you're lucky your room will stink of bleach and chlorine to the point where you find it hard to breathe. Otherwise the prices are mediocre and in a pinch it's an okay place to stay. Just be forewarned that the staff don't look like they want to be there and after your first night you probably won't either.
Pool was amazing. Is a nightly weekly by month place so I wasn't expecting the Marriott but for the price I was really impressed. I wouldn't stay below the 3rd floor. They are still a work in progress recovering from the hurricanes. However the maid who came in was amazingly throrough. I would stay here again when I coming into town for just a couple of days.
The staff in the morning is great. The breakfast they offer is just pitiful. They have roaches and no cleaning staff. You have to beg for towels or bring your own. There is a black man that works overnights that really need to work on his ppl skills. He is very rude to people, and he walks around like he is a pimp. This hotel should be closed down. Have of the hotel doesn't work and the elevators get stuck on u. Its just not a real safe place to stay, but this is where FEMA put us.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. There was black mold on the doors to the rooms and the walls. Water seeping from the carpet. The ceiling looks as if it would fall in at any moment. The door to my room hard been apparently been busted several times and they decided that painting over all the cracks would fix it. Roaches everywhere . The sheets were full of holes and had spots of what appeared to be blood on them. Oh and the door to the room when they repainted they went over some of the mold and when the paint mixed it changed the color to something that looks like puke. The so called breakfast was served by unfriendly women and was eggs gravy biscuits and cereal.the wifi didn't work on the third floor where I stayed and the TV was so fuzzy that watching TV required standing directly in front of it. I could go on forever about how horrible this place is but 56 bucks for the room and I will never go back here. This place should be shut down.
Got there during night shift change and the clerk rudely spoke to everyone in the lobby that " I would have to wait until late she finished her count." I was given a room on the first floor which was musty and moldy. Parts of the carpet were damp from who knows what, and thankfully there were only 2 roaches that I saw. What could I expect it was a $40 room , I had a long road ahead of me and just needed a place to stay for the night. Never again!
I'd like to address the motel's ownership in these comments: Folks, it's really simple: Cockroaches in the room are a DEAL-BREAKER for the average traveler who's trying to save a few bucks. I, for one, will GLADLY pay $10-20 more somewhere else for a roach-free experience. Look, I think you're TRYING, what with the good website and responsiveness to customers and all, but a filthy room with dead roaches on the air conditioner, LIVE ones on the wall above the bed, and an ashtray caked with old ashes turned upside down on the nightstand (in a NON-smoking room) and a dirty, acrid smell in the room is gonna turn people off, unless you got ex-cons or heroin addicts lining up with debit cards. 2 stars instead of 1 because your night manager was professional and kind, and offered me a refund (which I gratefully accepted), but I was gonna leave no matter what. Motel 6 got my $ instead.
