Margo is an excellent host! The camp ground we used was beautiful. The dining kitchen was very big and well equipped. The shower was hot and there’s space for you to keep your stuff in the storage room. She offered to take us to nearby grocery or dinner restaurants. At the end, she doesn’t mind giving a lift to the airport. We had good time at her place.
We can’t say enough about how wonderful our trip was staying at Bear Trail Cabins! We are already planning our return and would never stay anywhere else! Margo was so helpful and kind from my 1st phone call ,a year in advance, to meeting her at the airport where she picked us up. She makes coming to a new place easy and comfortable. The cabin was so clean and comfortable we absolutely loved it! Kitchen was stocked and great. The property is beautiful and perfect to stay when visiting Katmai! Margo felt like family by the time we left (5days). And we even loved Tia her adorable dog! Thank you Margo and Sam! See you next summer! 😊
There were 4 couples that stayed in two of the cabins for 3 nights. We took a float plane to Katmai National Park and found that this is a wonderful place to stay on King Salmon so you can spend a full day in the park. Margo was waiting for us at the airport when we arrived and offered to stop at the local grocery & liquor store so we could grab some supplies. The cabins were clean, roomy and we had a great time during our stay. There were games to play in the shared kitchen cabin and we found it to be a great place to gather and socialize with the campers staying in the campground. Margo shuttled us to and from town to eat. The local restaurant has AMAZING food and huge portions! We would definitely stay here again! Bring bug spray for the gnats and mosquitoes on the island..we came prepared.
Wow!! Margo is a rockstar, and an absolutely INCREDIBLE host. She made sure that we didn’t have a single need. She picked us up from the airport promptly and brought us to the cabins which we cozy, clean, warm, and had the hottest hot shower one could ever hope for after a long day out in misty September weather. She has all of the amenities to keep you happy, including bikes, a full kitchen cabin, and more! As an Alaskan, I would happily recommend this great spot to anyone looking for a crash pad between adventures.
I’d say Margo at Bear Trail Cabins Alaska is one of the most accommodating people you’ll ever meet, but that would be underselling it. She is a delight, so helpful. We had logistics issues with some of our baggage and she did all she could to make sure we got our bags. She made our stay! The cabins are exactly what you should expect; clean, comfortable. Hot water, electric, heated. I give it 5 stars. Having experienced all sorts of rustic cabins and such, these are as good, better than many.
I cannot say enough good things about Bear Trail Cabins and the owner - Margo. With less than 24 hours notice, she accommodated my stay, picked me up from the airport, and gave me a slew of recommendations to fill my time in King Salmon. Even with my follow on plans being flexible, she graciously let me use her truck (even when I could have completely ruined it multiple times) for the duration of my stay. She gave the best recommendations for food and local views, and everyone in town knows Margo! The cabin was clean, with refreshing hot water in the shower, and any luxury you would need for the wilderness. If I’m ever staying in King Salmon again, this will be my first call!
My son Mark and I stayed two nights at Bear Trail Cabins. Margo and Sam are great hosts. We had great conversations with Margo in the short time spent at their Cabins. King Salmon can be a take-off point for Alaska visitors. The Bear Trail Cabins are the relaxed hub of King Salmon. Margo genuinely treats each visitor like a guest in her house. Well done Margo!
The only campsite in King Salmon! Well organized, cute, and clean. I camped a night at this place in early September the day before flying into Katmai National Park. Margo drove me around the town and had a wonderful experience at the campsite. There’s a shared shower room and kitchen room that are well maintained. I would visit the place again!
