Bear Hands Brewing Company - Brewery in Putnam - 75 Main Street Suite 1, USA

Out of all the breweries I've tried, Bear Hands has been my favorite. The atmosphere is laid back, with no tvs, minimal "table side" entertainment, and great drinks. They have a food menu that is not prepared by them but still serve the tables via mobile ordering. My only "complaint," which it really is more of an observation, is that they have one bathroom. This did not end up being an issue in any way. I ended up getting a flight of beers on tap as well as a flight of mixed drinks. All of them were so much better than I was ready for. 10/10 I can't wait to come back!

My favorite brewery of all time. They have something for everyone whether it’s beer OR food selection, constantly rotating stuff onto their menu to stay exciting. The atmosphere can’t be compared to in the best of ways, warm welcome and the coziest place to sip and chat with friends. They have several events that are all inclusive and always decorate perfectly for every holiday/season. I love grabbing a beer and sitting outside in the warmer months, and in the winter months I love taking the couch in their downstairs speakeasy bar. The staff couldn’t be more personable, and you can tell the owners take pride in the space they’ve created. I can’t wait to show more people this amazing spot!!

Absolutely love coming for trivia. I enjoy trying different beers. The strawberry shortcake last summer was the best. However the food truly is not good and needs a revamp. The pretzel and beer cheese is good, but I don’t want it every single week. The mac n cheese has no flavor. The nachos are very lackluster. The pizza is ok, not great nor bad, but again, every week it’s not what I want. I know I have heard this same critique from many people who play trivia weekly. I understand keeping costs low and not having an overwhelming number of options but how about something as simple as fries? Cheesy tots? Garlic bread and marinara? Sliders? Hand held foods that are fun to eat and play trivia. I think patrons would be thrilled if this could happen.

Never having heard of Putnam, I was even more intrigued to see that a brewery was there, nestled into a revitalized historic district. It was well worth a long jaunt to visit- Bear Hands is a gem! The Brick Wall Eatery (inside) provided superior flavor with the fare - not bar food at all! Pictured is the Smoked Chicken & Beer Cheese Dip, which was incredibly good! Also shown is the White Pizza, which had a punch of garlic and onion. Also shown are the Smoked Chicken Sliders with tangy, golden Carolina mustard. This is a fantastic place to grab grub, even if you’re not a beer aficionado. The beers were on point as well; with an IPA that had dank, piney flavor and a fruit beer that was the perfect summer beverage. Do yourself a FLAVOR (and favor) and check out Bear Hands!

love this brewery - and have been visiting for years. Unfortunately, lately the service hasn’t been great, staff doesn’t seem very happy and service isn’t the best if your not sitting at the bar, but everyone has off months. main reason I’m leaving review is the food situation has just been awful lately. I’m not one to leave reviews but this has been an ongoing thing lately so wanted to warn about it. Very unreliable food, kitchens closes hours early frequently, so you can’t plan around food being available, and recently brought family/friends for their first time, was difficult to get a bartender over to our table for drinks and took 1 hour 30 min for 6 chicken tenders to come out and they were soggy, undercooked, and the order wasn’t even correct and it wasn’t busy upstairs or downstairs and no one outside. So unfortunately we just had to leave and go somewhere else bc we were starving by that point. Sucks bc this brewery is awesome usually, and a great one stop shop for beers food and great environment but lately it’s just been off so I personally won’t be bringing anyone new there until it gets better again bc my recent experiences bringing friends have been embarrassing after hyping it up.

The beers were very good and a reasonable selection. We sat outside as it was quite noisy inside. The ordering process for food was tedious. One of our party had trouble reading their phone in the sunlight and wasn't sure if the order had gone through. Ultimately, they went inside out of the glare. I'm not sure why we couldn't order from the same people and at the same time we ordered our beers. I suppose there must be a good reason. Although there is a parking lot right next door, it was pretty full and wasn't trivial to find a spot.
