Beacon Hill Bed and Breakfast - Featured Reviews (15)
My husband and I stayed here the night before and of our wedding just a couple weeks ago, and it happened to be the first time for both of us to experience a bed and breakfast. We stayed in the Sterling King suite on the first floor, and the room was wonderful! The whole place was neatly kept, and the view of the bay from our window was spectacular. The canopy king bed was probably one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in! I loved the old timey decor, and it was a great backdrop for me and my bridesmaids as the photographer took pictures of us getting ready the morning of the wedding.||||The biggest gem of the whole place is the hostess, Delaina. Breakfast was delicious on both days we stayed there. We had sweet rolls and fruit the morning of the wedding and a full breakfast with eggs, hashbrowns, sausage, biscuits, fruit, jam, the works the morning after! Delaina is embodies everything I think of when I think about Southern hospitality from her warm, friendly demeanor to the comfort of her food. She has certainly set the bar high for any further experiences we might have at a B&B!
My wife and I just celebrated out 10th wedding anniversary at our very first bed & breakfast at Beacon Hill. The house is an eccentric but tasteful combination of traditional and contemporary design, with hints of Victorian-style furnishings, but also with the flair of modern stylings such as a tiled shower with a fountain (just in the honeymoon suite, we believe). The honeymoon suite also has a 4-poster bed decorated tastefully with mosquito netting, a wall-width mirrored closet that adds a touch of romance, and a 2-seater table for breakfast that sits in front of a window that provides a fantastic view of Clear Lake. The owner, Delaina, is a first-class cook; she prepared and served two delicious breakfasts during our stay that were absolutely mouth-watering, and she brought it to us in the suite! Delaina is an engaging conversationalist with whom we thoroughly enjoyed spending time learning about, as well as sharing our own stories and adventures with her. Our stay couldn't have been any better and we certainly plan to stay there again in the future! If you're looking for a cozy, comfortable place to rest and want to get away from the fancy hotels, do yourself a BIG favor and go pay Delaina a visit - she'll treat you more like a friend than a guest!
My guest and I had stayed here in January and came back this month to enjoy a dinner cruise in Kemah. Delaina is such a great hostess. This B&B is clean, warm and welcoming. The Sterling Room is a gem. What could be better than laying on the bed looking out the window at the water? The common area is cozy and comfy with games and books and lots of windows facing the water. I certainly hope to have the chance to stay here again in the future!!!!
If I could give zero stars I could. Don't get me wrong the place is very very cute. It has an old school feel to it. My issue is the owner. For one example, we paid over 100 dollars for a tiny room and a bathroom with no space. The owner left weird and threatening notes the entire visit (see attached). The kitchen is apparently off limits and not included in the overpriced small room. There is no control over the air conditioning. I just tried to turn it down and she wrote me a note "close and lock the door because the a/c isn't working". The owner was mad at me because I had my service animal which she had NOTHING posted online about not being allowed. I left early this morning because I feel she was watching all I do. Cute location, HORRIBLE management. Do not come here if you want to relax. It's like living in your evil grandmas house. I wish I could get my money back it was traumatic
My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights when we were in town for an STS 61B space shuttle reunion. It is located right on NASA 1 but is easy to miss as there is no B&B sign on the road - the turn for the driveway is right after the big sign for the Beacon Hill Resort as you drive east, on the right side of the road. There is a small sign for "Beacon Hill Parking" but it is easy to miss. There is a car port with room for 3 cars. ||||This is a little different than your normal B&B because the hostess, Delaina, does not actually live at the property. She has several properties that she rents out long term to guests and I think there may be a guest who uses one room at this location on such a basis, though we never saw them.||||As others have mentioned, the house is an old one, and it shows in various place (carpeting, outside of the home, etc). Everything was nice and clean but it definitely shows wear and tear, old appliances in the room, etc. We stayed in the Lake View Room on the second floor which was nice and spacious. It has a small refrigerator, which we had to plug in when we arrived. There is also a coffee maker and a small clock radio. The TV is an ancient Zenith, about 19", on a wall mount, with satellite (I believe). There is free Wifi and it worked OK, we just had to call Delaina to get the password.||||The B&B is right on the lake so there is a large backyard that goes down to the dock and water. There were folks fishing out front most every morning when we were there. The Space Center Houston is only a couple miles west on NASA Rd 1 and the Kemah Boardwalk if just a few miles away on Rt 146. The location is very convenient.||||Breakfast was at 0830 each day and consisted of eggs, sausage, potato, croissants or crescent rolls and perhaps some fruit (grapes) with apple juice, orange juice, coffee, etc. The breakfast table overlooks the lake - very scenic.||||Delaina is an excellent hostess, very easy to talk to and has visited a lot of places. She has lived in the area for a long time so is a wealth of knowledge on things to do, places to eat, history of the area, etc. She simply could not have been nicer or more accomodating.||||The reason I give the average rating is because the facility is a bit run down in areas (again, very clean and comfortable though) and could use some upgrades, the price was high in my opinion, and the food was OK but not as great as many other B&Bs we have used.||||I would recommend this place without hesitation I just think it was not outstanding compared to the many other B&Bs we have used.
We stayed at Beacon Hill in the Sterling Suite for my birthday last night. Although I had read the amazing reviews and expected to fully enjoy our stay, I was blown away still by the above and beyond treatment we received. My hubby had been sneaking around all day to make this birthday extra special and both he and my aunt reached out to Delaina with specific requests. She helped them both make it possible to completely surprise and spoil me for my birthday. It was a quiet and peaceful stay. When we came in from dinner, she had set up little surprises in our room (from my aunt), and although my aunt had requested some specifics (red velvet cake...etc), Delaina took it upon herself to work with multiple bakeries to create the best of the best with such little notice. I was simply floored when we got back to our room! Breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed it right in our room overlooking the water. We ended up having to leave a little sooner than planned, but we did get the pleasure of chatting with Delaina a bit and laughing about the surprises and how my hubby tricked me. She is very warm and welcoming. The house is quite charming. The room and bathroom were larger than I expected. We definitely plan to return. We were both so pleased with our stay.
Beacon Hill B&B is a good place if you're visiting Seabrook and don't want to stay in one of the many "chain" hotels which offer more or less identical, bland, accommodation, etc. ||Owned and run by the very charming Delaina Hanssen, Beacon Hill is furnished with an eclectic collection of furniture and artefacts, many of which are antique and quaint. We had the Sterling King Master Suite, which comprised a large bedroom with lake view and an extremely comfortable, very wide, 4-poster bed, a small foyer, and a large bathroom.||Breakfasts were very good: home-made waffles one morning, pancakes the next; delicious home-made cakes, fruit, etc. We were offered a "full English" cooked breakfast, but preferred something lighter, which was well provided. The breakfasts were very different from, and infinitely better than, the boring, bland breakfast buffets at the chain hotels.||Because of one aspect of our schedule and particular needs, we asked Delaina for a change to her usual procedures – (I shan't say what it was, lest everyone asks her for the same!) – and she was very obliging, which we much appreciated.||But it isn't cheap; in fact, quite pricey. While reluctant to say anything negative, particularly when Delaina was such a delightful hostess, frankness and objectivity require me to say that it was a pity that our bed wasn't made after our first night. Given the cost, I think it should have been.
I am a traveling RN and accidentally found Beacon Hill while I was apartment hunting. I'm so glad I called. I stayed about 4 months in a small one bedroom apartment that was perfect for me. Delaina is so wonderful and accommodating. My stay was beyond comfortable. I looked forward to going "home" after work rather than to a hotel or apartment complex. On weekends I sat on the dock fishing and reading. It was heaven! I would rent again in an instant. Thank you Delaina and Byron
What a beautiful natural space with so many trails through the woods. Not a lot of space to park. Busy trails with a lot of people on bicycles. Bring water!
This is a wonderful park to walk and ride a bike from a clean bathroom and a place to have a picnic when your ride is done and some tennis courts and several picnic tables.
This is the place to be if youâre looking for a peaceful atmosphere. We came here from roughly 10-1 and it wasnât overcrowded. In part, I think it has something to do with the $10 entrance fee to access the park if you arenât a Seabrook residen
This was a wonderful place! The whole restaurant was decorated for Christmas, and the atmosphere was so welcoming and relaxing. The service food and drink were very reflective of the environment, with seasonal options and fun interactions. I was blow
This was the perfect end to the day. The service is quick. The portions are a good size. More importantly, the food is great. The calamari was very good. I really enjoyed the Gulf Red Snapper. It is nice when a place just is what you expected.
We started out in our travel trailer but, needed more room so Dani Gillespie moved us into one of the cool little cabins! The transition was smooth & easy mostly because of the sincere caring & desire to make us comfortable hereâ¦all because of the
We reserved a wedding here. This was an awesome atmosphere. Everybody who helped us was amazing. This wedding went so well. Without the people here working, I donât think it wouldâve went so smoothly. Everybody was happy. Everybody was smiling, w
This public park is very clean and spacious, the cluster of big trees with space In between provides a super shade feature, perfect for picnics. The trails are nice to walk or run and the little info boards on the trail are nice a thing to read, over
