BD's Mongolian Grill - Asian fusion restaurant in Novi - 43155 Main St #200, USA

There was litter everywhere throughout the whole building looked very dirty, I used to like going to this place unfortunately it was a very unpleasant experience this time. I would be embarrassed if I was the manager of this location. Employees would walk right passed all the trash, some were even texting on their phones often, when they could be actually working… VERY UNIMPRESSED, here’s some pics to show what I’m saying. We all had diahrrea as soon as we got home too 🤮

Went in for a carry out wanted in a line for food to be cook they moved everyone down and took people ahead of us so instead of waiting for our food to be cooked we now had 3 people ahead of us Okay... came back to have dinner much better service and much better food! Dinner was so good a little bit of a wait so pack your patience but the yummy food was worth it!!!

Spent 76ish dollars on take out tonight, live in South Lyon so a bit away, get home and my entrees gone then put on hold when I call for over 5 mins. I hung up, hangry didn’t think this required me doing someone’s job and double checking. But live and learn people. Great way to go into Sunday. Also great job cooking the kids meal how do you expect a child to eat chard sausage wow place is not even worth the visit folks go over to McDonald’s.

I rarely leave bad reviews but after having two bad experiences in a row at this place I feel compelled. I used to love this place and have eaten here for many years. The food was always great but it’s really nose dived over the past few months. The last meal here pushed me over the edge, it was without doubt the worst take out I’ve ever had in my life. They mixed the rice in with the food (instead of providing on the side) which they’ve NEVER done before. I’m convinced they did this as a cost saving measure because it adds cheap volume to the food giving you less for your money. This makes the rice mushy by the time you get it home. The chicken fried rice was so burned that it was bitter and completely inedible. They omitted one of the proteins in my meal, which I paid extra for. The cinnamon apple egg rolls were under cooked and the dough inside was raw. They didn’t even give us the caramel sauce that comes with the egg rolls. Sorry, you’ve lost a long time customer.

1 star is too high for this restaurant. The health department needs to see this place. The bathrooms were the worst bathrooms I’ve ever seen at a place that serves food. Both the men’s and women’s bathrooms were down to 1 working toilet out of 4. No soap and have not been cleaned ever probably. The floors and tables were sticky, the hibachi grill was CAKED on the edges with gross food residue. The food prep person bringing food to the line dumped the nasty old chicken slime into the new chicken he brought out. Even the rice wasn’t cooked all the way. Rice! 😩 If I wasn’t there for a birthday party I would’ve ran out like it was on fire and been happy with anything else! Avoid like the plague, surprised I didn’t get ill!

Tip: add spices in your bowl when you make it and do not put them in sauces. Sauces go at the end in the food but your spices need to be cooked with food to get that Flavor in it. Put eggs in the sauce cup so that you can add more food in bowl. Overall I had a really good experience. Been here 3 times and staff is friendly, Anna is one of the best waitress around. Food is amazing, especially bowls. You can fill as much as you can in a bowl and chef will take care of cooking. One bowl is sufficient for most of it. People would not really need unlimited bowl option but who am I to tell you. If you can eag it, get it. Slightly expensive but for the type of food and experience makes it all worth.

Our server Joesph was awesome! He was very attentive and made our experience great. The cook was also excellent. He is super nice and entertaining. Watched a customer be super rude to him for no reason and he stayed calm and professional. All the staff here are incredibly friendly and the foods great.

We used to love coming here and I am sad to see yet another long time staple in the area go downhill quickly. I would imagine the pandemic and lack of staffing resources played a big part. Not only is it tired and dirty, they stopped providing so many staples that they are known for. They no longer serve rice on the side - they mix it in with your grilled items (hopefully you like the portion), they no longer serve tortillas, the salad bar is gone, and the huge variety of spices has dwindled to a handful in shakers. There used to be a line of people waiting to get in and now it is empty at dinner time. I would think the Mainstreet Shopping Center location only makes matters worse. Most of the shops and restaurant have changed hands repeatedly and many sit empty. There are dying trees and weeds everywhere - the weeds are so huge they are kinda spectacular (see pics).
