Baymont by Wyndham Springfield IL - Hotel in Springfield - 5871 S 6th Street Frontage Rd E, USA

I traveled out west and back again dropping my daughter at college. I stayed in budget friendly hotels along the way. This was the worst hotel of the trip. I booked it ONLY b/c of the pool and hot tub since my back is very sore unfortunately those were “being worked on”. The damaged, ripped and stained sign on the desk leads me to believe this has been “worked on” for quite some time with no look of being finished. IMO the pool and hot tub should be removed from their listing. Upon arrival I was scared by the amount of weeds and trash in the lot. The dumpster was open and overflowing and the weeds made it look abandoned. The check in was fairly straightforward and the person checking us in wasn’t rude at least. The sign says new management. We were put in one room with a non working TV and missing artwork on the walls. There were even chunks of wall missing when the artwork was removed. We asked for a different room. On the positive BOTH rooms were clean and the AC worked. The staff quickly moved us to a new room upon our request. The carpet on the stairs was filthy with holes in the drywall too. No attempt to clean the carpet has been made. The free breakfast was scary too. Frozen eggs, chicken patties and waffles were set out on counter for guests to microwave themselves. They were NOT in ice though for proper food storage. I would not trust them. They also had milk and cereal, some bread and mini muffins. No juice, just coffee. I will not be back and would add “buyer beware” if you stay here. It’s under new management so perhaps they will make improvements.

I was scheduled to stay here August 15 2024. I arrived at the location and was concerned since it looked like an abandoned building. When I went in to check in the man at the front desk was very rude and told me he could not find my booking I told him to look it up by the confirmation number and he was able to find it during all of this he received a call on what I assume was his personal phone. He was talking and laughing with this person while looking at my driver's license. We were able to finally get our room which was 313 and when I went into the room it was very disgusting the ceiling looked like it was going to cave in even tho there was a very large patch job. My friend went to use the bathroom and the toilet was not flushing. We also found dead bedbugs. I called Baymont to complain and I also called booking since we were going to have to find a new hotel to stay at. We did not feel safe at this location. Booking was able to contact the hotel and arrange for me to get a refund and told me it would take 10-15 days for me to receive my refund. Around day 13 I started calling the hotel to see if my refund would be coming back soon but I have called everyday with multiple numbers trying to get a hold of someone and no one answers. All numbers were provided by Baymont reservation and booking and none seem to get through to anyone. Will be trying to get a hold of Baymont corporate again to see if anything can be done.

I wish I could give 0 out of 5 stars. With the negative reviews going back for MONTHS I'm not sure how this hotel is still running. If they're trying to make repairs they are not doing it the proper way and doing half-@$$ ways... The carpet is ripped and coming up causing safety hazards. The paint on the ceilings is peeling... When approaching it really does look abandoned... Grass and weeds everywhere... Screens falling off windows... Some windows don't even have any screens which is a safety hazard. They should remove the pool from their listing because it's not going to get repaired... It smells absolutely terrible in the whole hotel. Save your money and go somewhere else...

Booked a room for 2 nights. Upon arrival the place looks like a dump, weeds everywhere, screens busted off windows. I left for work today and had a do not disturb sign on my door so they wouldn’t come in, well I returned to the room being serviced. All of my stuff moved around and packed up into my suit case, they seen and went through all my personal items. EVEN WORSE, they left my door WIDE OPEN when they got done!!!! Anyone could have stolen my stuff. I am absolutely upset with this experience and recommend nobody stays here. Went down to talk to the manager and they gave me the excuse of “new staffing” …. Piss poor excuse. Huge invasion of privacy. Absolutely upset.

This was the worst hotel that I’ve ever stayed at. It is poorly maintained and managed. If it weren’t for cars in the parking lot, I would have thought it was an abandoned b; uncut grass, weds growing between cracks in the concrete, trash strewn across the parking lot, and construction materials stacked at the entrance of the building. The baseboards in the room were pealing off the wall, the tv was not attached to its mount on the wall and didn’t work, and many lights didn’t work. Asked for a couple of extra towels since only two were provided for a family of four, but they said they ran out. Frozen eggs and waffles were set out on counter for guests to microwave themselves. This may be a food hazard. They ran out of milk and coffee early during the breakfast window and would not replace them. The microwave and toaster were plugged into the same power strip, when they both are being operated the power strip would trip. This setup does not meet fire code. I have know idea why a franchise would allow the Baymont/Wyndham name to be attached to a hotel like this. It’s an embarrassment.

Avoid if possible, the foyer was smelly, staff bearly acknowledged us when booking in. The room smelled so bad that we had to go to a shop and purchase airfreshers, the furniture was dated and not very clean. The bed was bowed, but the bedding was clean. There were marks all over the walls, light bulbs missing and the bath/shower needs updating. The breakfast room was not very clean and there was food products sitting out uncovered, to be heated in a microwave, egg and chicken patties. Worse hotel I've ever stayed in and only we were late and had travelled all day we wouldn't have stayed.

From the moment we stepped into the hotel to the time we left, it was a nightmare. When we arrived, our room wasn't ready, so we had to come back later. Upon entering our room, we found a broken table, stained sheets, burn marks, and an old, discolored runner. The seats and carpet were also stained, and to top it off, there was mold in the shower and rust on the bathroom appliances. It was a complete disappointment. The room lacked basic amenities like a microwave and shampoo, and to add to the misery, the one bedside lamp didn't even work. It was truly the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I would give 0 stars if I could!!

If I could give this hotel a 0 Stars, I would! You enter the parking lot and the place looks run down and closed. Upon entering the lobby, you'll find a poorly lit and dirty looking area. The front desk has computer notes taped all over the place and you don't know where to start. I started the check in process and was met by a clerk that did not speak fluent English, (I believe it was Hindi). I had reserved a Room with a Roll-in Handicap Accessible Shower. I arrived in my room and found it had a bathtub. Back to the clerk, only to be informed that they do not have roll-in showers. After a lengthy discussion and her making a phone call, it was determined that they do have them. I was given the right room and proceeded there. The room was smelly and was just run down. The furniture was old, scratched and looked like it was falling apart. The TV remote was missing the power button and had to be turned on and off with a pen tip. Ihe remote worked only part of the time even though I tried my own batteries. The bed was old and had no support. On the bright side, the AC worked very well. I went for breakfast in the morning and only found mini muffins on the counter. I gave up on trying to communicate any further. I felt it was just better to leave. They do note on the internet that the pool is closed for updating, however the view from the parking lot makes it look like it is a storage area.
