Baymont by Wyndham Savannah South - Hotel in Savannah - 393 Canebrake Rd, USA

First impression was great. The lobby looked very clean. Our room looked very clean and bright. We got a great deal for our one night stay through Priceline. The only complaints my son and I had was that the AC had probably not been cleaned in a long time. Every time it started, there was a strong musty smell. It wasn't until the next morning when my son took his shower that he noticed that evidence of mold growing was on the ceiling above the tub/shower area and there was mold growing down the seams of the shower wall. I did report both things to the desk when checking out. I was disappointed in that there was no hair dryer in the room which is unusual for hotels these days. I don't usually pack a hair dryer any more so l just let my hair dry naturally. Also, although not a really big deal, there were 2 hot cups for coffee or tea but no drinking cups so we needed to rinse out the hot cups when using them for drinking a beverage. I read on the hotel site where people said there were homeless people sleeping around the hotel and that there were bugs in the rooms. We did not see any homeless people sleeping around the hotel and never saw a bug or roach. Hopefully they will correct what I reported. I would probably give it another try if I was going to Savannah again.

Absolutely horrible. Unsafe, shady, dirty, smelly, unpleasant and unhelpful staff, and the AC and clock didn’t work. And those were the briefly listed issues. Upon checking into the room, we could tell someone had come in and put “clean” towels and made the beds. But there was hair in the shower (walls, floor, shower curtain), hair on the floor around the toilet and under the toilet seat, and dirt on the side of the sink. There was hair on one of the pillows, and the towels had stains on them. I requested fresh pillows and let the front desk know of the dirty bathroom, and she handed me extra wash cloths and said “thanks for letting me know”. We ended up cleaning it ourselves, because it was a very late night check in with kids and we couldn’t go elsewhere. I didn’t even take pics because I was too busy trying not to make it a nightmare situation for my kids. The next morning, I talked to the front desk (a new lady was working), and she said “I’ll make a note of it”. No refund or even offer to have someone come in and clean it over again. The AC never worked. The room was stuck at 74* with only the fan function working, so sleeping was very uncomfortable, and the hotel itself (hallways, lobby, etc.) was hot and stuffy. Men were sitting out at the pool fully clothed (not swimming), smoking and made it their personal hangout, so I didn’t feel comfortable taking my kids to the pool. At night, there were police cars with sirens and lights responding to issues in the neighboring parking lot, and drugged up individuals tweaking along the main road outside the parking lot. I complained about all of the hotel-related issues, and the response was always “I’ll make a note of it”, or “thanks for letting me know”. And finally, when paying for the room at check-in, I was told the total was a certain amount, which included tax. The card machine stopped working during payment and she had to reboot it. When it was time to try again, I stupidly put my card in the machine before confirming the amount again. After the payment cleared, I asked what that final amount was, and she said it was an additional $30 than I was told before “due to tax”, but that was supposed to have already been factored in. When I got the final receipt at check-out the next morning, and it turned out I was charged $15 more than that! So $45 more than the original amount I was told, all under random fees and taxes. When I asked why it was even more, the front desk clerk said “yeah, that’s our fees and taxes”. Do NOT bring your family here. 0/10.

I booked for a one nights stay. Upon arriving the outside appearance was good. When we got our room and got off the elevator on the 3rd floor, it felt like the heater was on and smelled like someone was cooking seafood. It wasn’t a pleasant Combination to smell. Our first room had big stains on the sheets, totally gross!! We switched rooms and the second room had moldy bathroom walls. There was no ventilation in the bathroom, the fan didn’t work. We slept without cover because the air conditioner barely kept the room cool. It was a night I’m glad is over. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone and definitely wouldn’t stay again.

Positive: The price drew me to this hotel. Looked great on line. The lobby looked clean and tidy. Check-in was very fast. Negative: AC had musty smell when it turned on. Needs a big cleaning. Son noticed mold on ceiling of tub/shower area and on the walls of the shower. Both issues were reported to desk on checkout

Check in was great. A lot of homeless drug users around motel. Pool was partially green. Had issues with room that I just wanted to report not complain on and was met with very poor guest service. The guy kept trying to talk over me. Was told they don’t change rooms when I wasn’t asking to change rooms, just alerting them of issues for the next guest. Very poor customer service besides Ms. Betty who was amazing. Cleanliness of room was iffy. Would not recommend and will not stay at this specific motel again.

Terrible hotel! DO NOT STAY HERE ||We decided to stay at this hotel for a night to rest from our exhausting road trip. ||Unfortunately, it turned out to be a terrible experience. The smell in the HALL and room was extremely bad—if you know what I mean, you know how unbearable it was. ||The bed sheets were stained, there were bugs in the bathroom, and we found hairs in the bathtub. The entire room was disgusting. |On top of that, there was noise throughout the night with people slamming doors and talking loudly. It was an awful experience, and we will never stay here again. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

The lady at the front desk was delightful and accommodating to our needs. I'm not going to suggest this is NOT a place for women alone, the lady behind the counter had 3 in glass in front of her and a bunch of cameras. That didn't help me feel safe, because she probably was capable of calling the police. It would take time for them to arrive, enough said. The room was well, the good thing was it didn't have bugs, it wasn't clean.i should have left but it was really late when we arrived and we had 1 night, leaving early in the morning. I closed the curtains, they were filthy (sticky), there was visible sauce on them, dust in the corner of the wall, counters and lights were slimy. The phone hasn't been wiped in years, yellow stuff stuck all over it. The bathroom was ok. The floors were slimy. The bedding and towels were white and looked clean. I know you can't control others but it creeped me out to have 5 guys, happen to be Mexican, standing at the entrance drinking beer the whole time I was unloading and parking my vehicle. The only thing that did make it okay was they never addressed me, nor did they seem to be interested in what I was doing.

Positive: Ms. Betty. Negative: The pool was partially green. There was trash around the night stand. There were hairs in the bathroom floor. The tub had to be cleaned before we could use it. I expressed my concerns to an employee and he just tried to over talk me.
