Baymont by Wyndham Newark I-95 at University of Delaware - Hotel in Newark - 630 S College Ave, USA

The pros: right across the street from UDEL Stadium, "free" cookies, water and snacks in lobby, the bed was comfortable, the room was quiet and seemed clean. The cons: the room was run down, both lamp shades on the bedside lamps were broken and in bad shape, the breakfast eggs were cold, not even luke warm, just cold...and wet...and shaped like little pancakes. I assume they were frozen. The bacon was not great, either, and I love bacon. I decided to play it safe and grab a banana and my husband grabbed some packaged breakfast danish (tip - pick up breakfast sandwiches from DD or somewhere else, store in minifridge and heat them up in the room microwave). They did have a waffle maker so if you are someone who likes waffles, or is ok with some fruit and yogurt, then maybe it won't be an issue for you. ||My biggest complaint was with the rate. We paid $830 for 2 nights at a two start hotel and did so because of the location. BUT, the week of our arrival the rates for the same exact room dropped to $613 for 2 nights. The hotel refused to adjust our rate even though there were still rooms available at the lower rate when we checked in and if we cancelled and re-booked we'd lose one nights cost so that didn't make sense either. They told us there was nothing they could do because we paid "event prices" and that it was all based on supply and demand. I get that - I really do, but they had rooms (more than one) left and the fact that they refused to adjust the rate for a current guest is pretty awful customer service. ||If I had to do it again, I would pay more to stay at the Homewood Suites or Embassy Suites next door.

Positive: Staff actually cleaned the room and replaced/provided clean towels when the sign was left off of the door. I travel a lot for work, and this is the first time I have experienced this in years. Absolutely thrilleed to not have to call in for fresh towels. Negative: Smells like smoke in the hallway. Smoking area is too close to the door.

great room and great price while traveling back on a 14 hour ride home from vacation. clean room comfortable bed and friendly staff. needed to stop for a little sleep. place was perfect with a TGIFriday a 2 min walk for dinner. great room for the price

Decent hotel overall. They serve cookies at front desk occasionally! Could use some hot breakfast as they have the serving dish on the counter but unused and empty. Okay wifi but disconnects sometimes. Hotel prices also get crazy at times.

Clean rooms, shower was clean too, sparkling in my opinion. Friendly receptionists, Thin walls so you can hear your noisy neighbors but you will eventually sleep like a baby. Just the hall way carpets need a deep clean. Otherwise i shall return.

I was greeted with a smile and warm cookie by the staff. The staff that I interacted with were very friendly and helpful. Gave me recommendations for supper and shopping too. My room was clean and worth the money I paid. My check out was easy.

0 STARS… Be wary if you book with this hotel. I booked a year in advance for my son’s UD graduation. I called 2 times to confirm and on the day of check in the front desk worker told me it was canceled, complete lie. I asked for a manager and no one was on site until Sunday. Another lie, she was awful, rude and dismissive. My family and I had to scramble on finding a hotel, which obviously was impossible. Horrible, don’t find yourself in a situation like that and book elsewhere.

Ana at the front desk was kind and helpful! She was able to get us a room a little earlier than expected and we appreciated it. We will definitely be staying here again.
