Baymont by Wyndham Bessemer - Featured Reviews (42)
So, I was a little nervous about this place because of all the really night-marish reviews. However, it's not bad. We just needed a place that's clean and close to highway, on our way to Louisiana. The bathroom and bed were clean. Big stain on the sofa (so I just didn't sit on it). Front desk staff was very friendly. Typical hotel breakfast, good for a grab and go. The room is spacious, with a coffee maker, a brand new microwave, and a mini fridge with a freezer. The place is currently being renovated, so there were signs of construction, especially in the parking lot.
My wife and I stayed at this hotel in Aug 2024. This was the worst hotel I ever stayed at in my 40 yr of travel. The room was heavily perfumed to mask the moldy smell. The carpet floor was sticky, the bathroom fixtures were rusted, large portions of the bathroom drywall was rotten, soft and moldy, door was delaminating, bed had no support and funiture was woren out. They charged me over $130 per night to stay here. Avoid this place if you value your health.
The staff were great, especially the lady who runs the breakfast! I'm sorry to have missed her name.
We were originally given a room that had not been cleaned but were switched, luckily, to another one on the same floor. That room looked clean on the surface, but I am from the hotel service industry so I know how to clean a hotel room. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.
The staff need trained on detailed cleaning.
I have no doubt these raving reviews are paid for by the hotel. The first red flag was the mildew smell coming from our air conditioner. We called the front desk to fix the issue and all they did was spray air freshener in it to attempt to mask the smell. Within a few hours it started smelling again. There was mold all in the bathroom on the ceiling and around the tub. We had no toilet paper in our room. The tv stand was so molded it was falling apart. Mold in the carpet. The entire hotel smelled like weed probably from the amount of guests who paraded around with it outside and up and down the hall ways and elevator. It was so bad I had to get my kids to hold their breath on the elevator. The breakfast was a joke. They only cooked enough for 6-8 at a time and would only start making more when they ran out. So it was either wait 20 minutes for burnt food or eat dry cereal. Save yourself the trouble and spend the extra $20 for a clean room you can actually be in and not worry about the health of your family. The only good thing I can say is there was a lady at the front desk who was extremely pleasant when we had interactions. The rest of the staff, especially the breakfast attendant and housekeepers were extremely rude and nasty. We will never be back.
The hotel is incredibly clean, and the staff goes above and beyond to provide exceptional service. I was particularly impressed by their attention to detail. The location is also convenient, being situated very close to the police station and a variety of restaurants, making it a great choice for future stays.
It was under construction while we were there, but it didn't hurt the experience at all. Everything was mostly clean. The a/c in the room was kinda coming off the wall and I could see through it to the outside. It took a while to cool the room because of that. The beds were firm. The lady who checked us in wasn't rude, but didn't say much. There were lots of food options around and we felt very safe. The woman who helped with the breakfast was super kind.
Stayed here for the University of Alabama graduation. Customer service from staff was great! Very friendly. The room was fine, and the bathroom tub could use an update, but for the price I paid compared to staying in Tuscaloosa, I was very happy. Only was there to sleep. I did have a hot breakfast buffet every morning. Area right off the interstate, many other hotels in area. felt safe but also took precautions, didn't leave any valuables in the car.
Me and my husband was only there for a weekend. The room had a bad odor. We was there when they was remodeling. They use someone else's pictures which I didn't like. Also the hallway had a very bad smell. The tub was broken the light in the bathroom was broken it kept blinking.. We will never stay at this hotel again
Stopped here for the night after driving all day from Houston. This weary traveler got the best greeting from Shelby who checked me in. What a pleasant young lady. The room was nice and the AC was running. This is a big deal since it was 100 degrees
Staff is super nice. Was having trouble getting in the pool with my 4 year old
who was excited to go swimming on vacation. Front desk lady went out her way to get a hold of the maintenance guys to let us in. Rooms clean and breakfast was great, wi

We had 9 folks racing, aged 13 to 74, and 5 of us did the VR and both were outstanding. If I had to pick, I'd pick the cars though.. just too much fun.
All of the staff were super nice.

Cars were fast.
