We were vendors at the Christmas Saturdays event. The Bastrop County Museum & Visitor's Center was nearby and offered restroom access to whomever. While going in and out, I had the opportunity to meet the lovely ladies who work there. Truly kind people. I also took advantage and looked at the artwork from local artists. We have so many gifted artists in Bastrop County. A visit to the Museum would be thoroughly enjoyable for anyone. I highly recommend it. And say hi to whomever is working that day. I promise you that you will be glad you did.
This is a well curated local museum with tons of local history crammed into a compact space. The kids loved the scavenger hunt and it was challenging enough to keep them engaged and interested in the history.
We had a docent led tour of the Bastrop Museum and it was awesome! We learned so much about the history of Texas and Bastrop itself in a very engaging storytelling experience by someone with an amazing Texas heritage!
Very informative, interesting and fun place to visit. There is so much history in Bastrop that I was unaware of. The volunteers here made it an extremely pleasant experience!
Everyone at the Visitors Center was pleasant and helpful. We did a docent guided tour of the museum. The docent was friendly and knowledgeable. We learned a lot about Texas history and really enjoyed our time at the museum.
This is an amazingly professional and interesting museum. Much more than I would expect in a town the size of Bastrop. If you're nearby, it is well worth the visit.

I've lived in Bastrop for almost 12 years now, and I learn something new every time I visit. They have great "contests" for kids, provide a well-researched historical view, and host interesting revolving exhibits. In addition, the staff are always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I know, you'd think that would be a given, but it isn't always. I know I can walk in any day they're open and have a fun conversation with whoever is there.

The Texas Reptile Zoo is a hidden gem in Bastrop! The facility is family owned and operated. The owners are very friendly, informative and engaged with their guests. I was especially impressed by the high level of animal activity in each exhibit!!

This place is GREAT! Another reviewer said it has "mismatched" tables and chairs, but that was not true today. It's a small business, and a good portion of their trade is takeout, so there are only a limited number of tables and chairs.

Wow! What a fun place! A friend and I met for breakfast at 8 and by the time we left it felt like most of Bastrop was there and rightfully so. We had Migas, grits, eggs, home style potatoes, biscuits, basically the works to try out a breakfast place.
