Bassett House Inn - Featured Reviews (6)
Our family stayed at this Inn one weekend this summer and one weekend last summer. It is not fancy but it is clean. There is abundant parking and Michael, the owner, provides a beach pass. You can bring your pets. There is air conditioning and it is conveniently located. It is not inexpensive but much more affordable than most, if not all of the other Inns in the area. Plus, my experience has been that Michael does not require a three night minimum as many Inns in the area do. The area is beautiful and the only time we spend at the Inn is to shower and sleep. For those purposes, this Inn is more than adequate. We would stay again.
Last weekend I sailed with my three kids and one of their friends between Gardiners Island and Shelter Island. Everything was perfect: the temperature, the wind, the sunset. We suddenly had a major problem with the sailboat and things went from fantastic to horrible in a few seconds. Thanks God nobody got hurt, but I was stranded on the water with four kids. We were rescued by some nice people on a motor boat which brought us to East Hampton. One couple was especially helpful and found the Bassett House Inn for us, which still had some openings. At this time we were slowly approaching midnight, but Michael Bassett did not mind and received all of us with open arms. The same evening and the next morning I had to arrange towing the boat, find transportation, keep the kids busy, talk to the insurance, you name it. Every step of the way Michael Bassett just helped and I am very appreciative for that. The man has his heart at the right place. I very much recommend the Bassett House Inn and his owner, Michael Bassett. Respectfully, Michael R.
Worst B & B!!! Dirty. Dirty. Dirty. Antiquated facility. No staff anywhere! Many other places to stay out east! Go somewhere else. Not here! Bassett house should’ve been closed down years ago. Listen to the other reviewers and find somewhere else to enjoy!
I had a most enjoyable time staying at the Bassett House. Among the best locations in East Hampton -- Convenient to everything. The innkeeper is most agreeable. This is a fabulouse place if you have a dog. The facility has a very expensive, large back yard that has a number of chaise lounges and is as comfortable as it gets both for a place to relax and let your pet run free.
We had a wonderful time at The Basset House during our summer visit. The Bed and Breakfast is charming and the host, Michael was wonderful. ||||This Bed and Breakfast is in a great location also, close to Main Street and the East Hampton airport. I would stay there again!
Boyfriend and I booked this place since it allows small dogs, and the location is convenient. I had a bad feeling as soon as we pulled into the driveway, the house and the yard look shabby and unkempt. What a dump! You realize that as soon as you enter and see a dirty rug leading up the stairs. The room was dark and dirty, dump air, squeaky bed, greasy fingerprints on the nightstand, bed linen that are too shabby to comprehend sleeping on, paper thin towels, yuck. We left 5 minutes after checking in, I literally cried at the thought of having to sleep there. We paid over $300 for this, the owner offered to show us another room, but did not offer to reimburse us even though he saw that we were shocked and disappointed. The good reviews on the website must be a fraud. Do not make the mistake we did, do not even consider this place. It should be closed for sanitary reasons, it's hard to comprehend such a dump exists in East Hamptons.
Don't make the mistake we made, the owner insisted to be paid before we went to the room. When we arrived at our room is smelled and had an overall feeling of not being clean. We ended up going to another hotel without getting any type of refund, it was that dirty. There are much better choices in the Hamptons.
The Bassett House Inn is a very quaint and charming B&B in the most beautiful community in the United States. Mr. Michael Bassett is very friendly and accommodating. If you're in East Hampton, NY, this is the place to stay. Very close to Main Beach.||||Joe Guadagno,||Long Island, NY
Neighborhood-y gathering spot that almost transplants you to a Fort Greene/Cobble Hill cafe (likely the same crowds). Delicious coffee from Variety and pastries from Pain dâAvignon. Itâs a coffeeshop, general store and also with a shop in the bac
Our first non-home meal in 4 COVID months and we chose Chinese! The phone ordering was pleasant and knowledgeable, the socially distanced pick up was well thought out and efficient. The food was spectacular. We had egg rolls, fried meat dumplings,
5 stars because all of the food was such high quality and super fresh. Ambiance is lovely with nice spacing between tables so you don't feel squished. Our server was delightful and attentive. Honestly my only complaint is the French fries are too thi
