I loved this little place. A disabled veteran, rock hounder owns this place. Wonderful collection of geodes, thunder eggs (which I’d never heard of), and lots of other rocks. Reasonably priced considering what and where they’re from. Stop by and visit this little rock house gem
Christopher runs this place, it is a small shop full of beautiful geodes and thunder eggs. He is very knowledgeable and great to talk to. Stop in and look, buy, and learn. These are thunder eggs I purchased. Christopher is a disabled veteran you should stop in chat with him and make a purchase of a pretty geode or thunder egg.
If you wanna see rocks in all states from direct-from-the-mine to cut and polished, then the Basin Range Volcanics Geolapidary Museum in Deming, New Mexico is the place to be. Do not expect to see a two-story building nor a map guide nor an information desk when you reach the museum. The small dilapidated-looking house is located in the middle of a desert and isolated, close to the entrance of the Rockhound State Park. I missed it the first time I was there as my GPS could not find its exact location. I only realized that I was hundreds of meters past my destination when I saw a sign that said I am would be entering the Rockhound State Park. A quick u-turn and a few minutes of slow driving led me to a sign “Rock Shop.” It is a little house, indeed! But full of beautifully-colored, shining rocks. Geodes, they are called, rocks of sedimentary origin that are formed by chemical precipitation. His name is Christopher. The guy who manages the place. He is so cool and friendly!
Very informative! On the outside there are lots of geos and thundereggs! When we went there is a roadrunner that made her nest in a window. Scared the buggers out of me when we accidentally disturbed her! On the inside there are lots of polished rocks that are absolutely beautiful and for sale! This is worth a stop if you are in the area!
Small little place with lots of geodes and thunder eggs for sale. Most of the museum pieces were moved to the museum in town, just the ones for sale are left. Shopkeeper is a riot, and knows everything about the rocks in his collection. I'd call this a quick stop more than a "museum"
Such a fun stop, definitely worth it! The man in charge was very kind and knowledgeable. Lots of cool locally mined rocks. Geodes and other stones were a great price.
This place is great! Christopher is super knowledgeable and a really nice guy :) And the collection is very reasonably priced! Definitely make sure to stop by and check it out if you are driving by :)
Chris is amazingly knowledgeable, and he has the most beautiful specimens of Thunder Egg Agates in the world!!! I will be visiting this place often💚💚💚💚💚💚
