Barrera's Fried Chicken - Fried chicken takeaway in Robstown - 105 S 3rd St, USA

Looking for a place to stop for lunch in our way home from SPI to SA, I read about this tiny place in Robstown that was featured on Texas Eats. Giant chicken strips with creamy chicken gravy? Yes please! We called ahead about 20 mins out and our order was ready for takeout when we arrived, piping hot and fresh. My husband and I should’ve split an order - it comes with 4 massive strips and fries. We could each only eat two, even though we mostly skipped the two rolls and fries - which were basic frozen fries doused in over-salty seasoning. I deducted one star for the fries, and the chicken was a bit salty as well. Still worth a stop if you are in the area and craving mass quantities of tasty and inexpensive chicken!

We were driving around looking for a food truck that was highly rated in the area, we drove from corpus, and just to find out it was closed. We drove on and ran into Barrera’s fried chicken ! Let me tell you ! It was the best fried chicken I’ve had in a very long time ! The best drive I’ve ever made ! Couldn’t ask for anything better! Very good!

Chicken was moist and came with a nice crust. Once you get past the crust, the meat underneath lacked flavor. I do like their little spice rub that they garnish their chicken and fries with. Seating is near non existent, which is fine, as you can always eat in your car in the HEB parking lot across the street. 3.7/5

Saw this on Texas Bucket list. Very humble establishment located in the heart of Robstown just a bit off of 77. Super nice staff and pretty good chicken. Ordered a 6 piece mixed with fries and gravy. Chicken was cooked perfectly, was hot and tasty. Just a tad over seasoned for my taste buds but it was not a bad visit. Seasoned fries hit the spot as well. Definitely be back when in the neighborhood, but I will probably ask for easy on the seasoning.

In town for business and heard nothing but good things about this spot. Must admit, they met all expectations as my shrimp and fries were crispy, and my chicken was season well. A must try in the area and have earned my "Certified Mad Good " rating

I'm not a big fan of fried chicken, but I do like fried livers. I saw this place on a YouTube channel and since I was in the area decided to give it a try. I ordered a 2 piece chicken and a small liver meal with the gravy on top. I'll honestly say the fries with the gravy and seasoning were my favorite thing. I can see myself stopping by just for a basket of fries with gravy. They use the yellow chicken gravy, with an option of having it on top or on the side. The livers were fresh and tender, but I felt were lacking a bit flavor wise. The fried chicken was crispy the skin was good. A bit salty, but the meat was still juicy and tender. The batter had a red tint to it. Probably a spice that was added, as it had a little kick. Was worth the stop.. prices were really affordable.

I always visit this place when I visit my mom in Robstown. They have the best tasting chicken anywhere! The fries are addictive too with the special seasoning that they sprinkle liberally on both the chicken and fries! Mmmm good!

This is a real hole in the wall place with the BEST fried chicken I have ever had in my life.. You have to order at the window or call it in. They don't serve drinks but there's a convenient store near by. They have some picnic tables to sit at. Your taste buds are going to love you. And I normally get sick when eating fried chicken, Not Theirs.. didn't have any issues.
