Booked the resort through RCI on an exchange and we're completely satisfied. Units are in great shape and comfortable for 2 adults, or small family of 4. We had great weather to enjoy everything Blackhills have to offer. Be prepared to do a lot of driving. The Badlands is 130 miles, Mt Rushmore is about 1.25 hours away. Be sure to explore Spearfish Canyon which is close by. Our building (Vista) had a decent pool are with a very small pool and a nice hot tub for soaking the aches of a day's exploring away. There is also a nice sun deck with gas grills if you've time to cook in. The fall colors were just beginning mid-Sept but would be great by the end of September. I highly recommend Barefoot Resort and a visit to the Blackhills.
I was pleased with the accommodations at Barefoot Condominiums. We did a lot of driving but saw all of the iconic South Dakota parks and monuments. Farthest drive was to the Badlands but well worth it. The condo itself was very nice with updated kitchen, bathrooms and flooring. We did get some groceries from Lynn’s Dakotamart in Lead which was fine. We also ate at the Stampmill in Lead which was good. My tip is to pack a collapsible cooler and bring a lunch if you are visiting places like Devils Tower and Mount Rushmore. It is well worth walking out to the scenic overlook at the resort to see the night sky.
Great place to stay. Clean, quiet, and great view looking out over the valley. Great kitchen with everything you need to make your meals. Also, nice pool, hot tub, and sauna too. You won't be disappointed.
Didn't see any mention of the trucks hauling dirt at the gold mining right next door. Was quite on Sunday but week days and Saturday there was lots of activity. Loved the view from the patio. Ours was a three bedroom with 2 located on the main level. They were small so we put suitcases in one room and us in the other. Bathroom had little counter space. Loved the small grocery store located at check in. Lots of things that made sense in timeshare living (single sticks of butter, small size cereal boxes, etc.)
Easy access. Great staff and accommodation across the board. Wildlife is abundant around the area during the winter season. It's a perfect location for any snow skier for Peak Mountain. A suggestion for off Winter travelers, get yourself a Styrofoam cooler for your daily travels for drinks, etc.
Had a great stay in a 3BR unit in the Summit View section. Fit the 6 of us perfectly. Fully stocked with everything you need. Staff was great. NOTE: These units do not have A/C as they are winter ski resort units but ours had fans in every bedroom and a large fan in the family room to pull in the cool evening air. We stayed when temps were unusually hot and we were still comfortable. Would go back for sure!
We enjoyed our stay and visit to the Deadwood area. It was our first time at this resort and we found it to be a nice comfortable unit that had everything we needed. Definitely need a vehicle to get around the area.
Stayed a week as a RCI exchange. Overall excellent as has been the norm for us with RCI. Barefoot is a ski resort and our stay was in the off season so not at all crowded. Being off the beaten path and away from the development of the Lead-Deadwood area but offering easy access to many western SD and eastern WY attractions made it ideal for us.
We rented UTVs for a day. Could not have been a better experience. Staff was friendly, helpful, and personable. Pickup was flawless and return was quick. The machines were in fantastic shape, very well maintained. This was the highlight of
On a moto it's a near perfect ride, especially if you can avoid the traffic. If you are in a car lots of opportunities for hikes from easy to a workout.
The absolute best juiciest most flavorful Burger I have ever had. Service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere was incredible! So many things to look at in a rustic environment next to a River. There was swag to buy, seating outside and plenty o

Absolutely amazing. Breakfast is exactly what you expect. Yummy, fresh, and big portions. Phil was a friendly waitress that did a great job. Beautiful area and a great restaurant to hit on a scenic cruise.
