We absolutely loved our stay here! My husband and I were here for 4 nights and had a wonderful time. The hosts were incredibly kind, helpful, and responsive to our every need. The rooms were very clean, super comfortable, and totally charming. It's a short 2 blocks from a beach entrance and walking distance to many tasty restaurants. The breakfasts are delicious and generously served!!! You literally wake up to the smell of breakfast being made in a hot skillet - wow!!! We came here to relax and loved the wide wrap-around porch and upstairs balcony with plenty of rocking chairs and couches. 10/10 experience. While we'd love to keep this place a treasured secret, the team and hosts deserve all the praise in the world for creating something truly magical. Thank you, Rich & Sharon, for a lovely stay ❤️

Rich and his wife Sharon were wonderful hosts. The home, built is the 1800's is lovely and accommodating. We felt right at home and would certainly stay at the Barclay Cottage again. I cant forget t mention how amazing the breakfasts that Rich cooked each morning were!!! He takes great pride in his preparation and presentation. It definitely gets 5 star rating from us. Rich and Sharon define what we believe to be true Southern hospitality. The delectable breakfasts were a reflection of their love for what they do. The cozy inn is off the beaten VB path and a wonderful retreat. We walked everywhere after over indulging in the fabulous home made breakfasts and restaurants. We can't say enough about how wonderful the Barclay is! Thank you, Rich and Sharon!

Loved my time spent at the Barclay B&B during a quick weekend get-away and will definitely go back next year. The bikes for boardwalk riding was a favorite activity, but the gourmet breakfasts each morning was a highlight and amazing start to each day. Very convenient to the beach, shopping, restaurants, everything you want at the beach. The hosts are so kind and easy to talk to, I felt welcome and so at peace I didn't want to leave. Highly recommend this B&B for an amazing experience.

It was my first bed and breakfast experience!!! Highly recommended the place , Sheron and Rich make sure you feel right at home. Clean, cute cottage, great access to beach, breakfasts are awesome, gourmet and healthy food, if you have dietary restrictions they have alternatives for you. I will definitely go back. The hosts were awesome 🤩. So enjoyed the conversations and visit. The house has a wonderful ambiance. The touches of a shell 🐚 for a spoon holder were so special. Breakfast there was so well thought out ~ courses that really made the stay perfect.

My wife and I spent a week here for business. But we also had time to go see some of the sites. Virginia Beach is great and the greater area is one of the most historically-significant areas in the US. We loved it all. The Bed and Breakfast was great. Rich and Sharon have transformed this home into a quaint beach-style inn. The rooms were clean and comfortable and access to amenities (sites, restaurants, the beach, etc.) was plentiful. But the best part of the experience was the service and interaction from the owners. They are wonderful and friendly people. They pay attention to detail. And those breakfasts were gourmet. They went above and beyond and if I could go higher than 5 stars, I would. My wife and I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in the area and if/when we come back next year for the same business trip, we already know where we'll be staying.

Everything about this place is wonderful. Rich and Marie are great people and the kindest of hosts, and as locals have such great recommendations. Beautiful rooms and so conveniently located too. And a creative yummy breakfast every morning. 100/10 recommend.
