The owner takes pride in her craft and you can really tell this through the work that she does and the product she puts out. I'm obsessed with all the macarons, French silk tart, fruit tarts, quiche, and cheesecake. The staff is friendly and helpful! It's very exciting to see where they started and where they are expanding. I'm so happy to have been able to find a bakery that I'd travel from any distance to come get!
Macarons are great! Chocolate mouse cake is also great! The carrot cake wasn’t very impressive but overall really good pastries. Pricing is a bit high but it’s a small business so I get it. Will be returning!!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (they deserve SOOOO much more than just 5) Authentic French sweets and treats! So much to try, and all so wonderfully made! I will be by, often! Keep up the good work! 👍 *** Update *** (and LONG overdue) Over the last 2 years I have made on average of one visit per week, many weeks two or more. The authentic French pastries that Bao and her amazing staff craft and create are a true highlight of the Valparaiso business community. As one review put it, "You owe it to yourself to give her a try!" And I couldn't agree more. I set out initially to get something new that I hadn't tried before on EVERY visit, and in the 100+ trips and stops I've been able to accomplish that probably 90% of the time. I no doubt have my favorites and there are 1 or 2 things that aren't my "cup of espresso" but it is rare. Do not be confused when you visit, Bao's Pastry is a pastry shop, NOT a bakery. You will not find doughnuts, but you will find wonderful artisan French bread varieties and the most delectable desserts, macarons and puff pastries imaginable! You will also find something new every time you visit, I can pretty much guarantee you that.
Worth the hour 🚙 drive! Creative, delicious and reasonable💲prices. Authentic 🇫🇷 French patisserie goodies, quiche, and don't forget the ☕ coffee. Lavender & 🍋 lemon torte tastes as good as it looks. The 🥕 carrot cake is moist and flavorful with just the right amount of sweetness. Chocolate 🍰 cake and cheesecake are tasty also.
A cute, smaller shop in the middle of down town! Wasn't too expensive and had a great selection of fresh pasteries 😍 I really enjoyed being able to try some unique deserts I've never had before! The dark berry tart was so good, and the Tiramisu Cup + Creme Brule were just as good as I've dreamed of. I can't wait to come back and try more delicious snacks from this location! It is a little small, so you may have to wait outside during the busier times, but otherwise absolutely no complaints!!
I tried the pastry with the Nutella, my older daughter had the round blue/black berries tart (along with 3 macarons), my younger daughter had the chocolate cheesecake. They were so beautiful that I had to take a picture. That Nutella pastry was to die for. I had to break my diet plan and give up dinner to eat it, and I have zero regrets for that wonderful food experience! Worth it!
My husband and I always try to stop at Bao's when we are in Valparaiso. We were out late and never thought they would be open. It was on a Saturday night about 9:30 pm. They were open and we were able to get some yummy pastries. One of the owners waited on me and I knew she had to be tired, but she was still so welcoming and helpful.
Just simply phenomenal. You don't get this level of quality, attention to detail, and unique kind of offering in small towns. We are so lucky to have BAO in Valpo. The croissants, the mousse cakes, the fruit tarts, and more. You will not be disappointed - skip going to a big city of flying to Paris - this is your ticket to pastry delight!
Iâve been to fluid about 10+ times now, I know small/local places have a reputation for not having consistency but fluid is a hit every single time. Every drink every time has been consistently good. Some of the best coffee Iâve ever had and the
Can't even express how much I love The Press! Such a precious bookstore and coffee shop! Warm and inviting. The staff are the kindest people. Their coffee is on a whole other level! It's the best coffee in town! Hands down! I'm so grateful to live a
My family and I moved here from Kentucky a little over a year ago. Once I heard about Valplayso, I had to take my kids there to check it out. It was the cutest and most entertaining park we've ever been to. I will continue to take my kids here!
The biggest University chapel in the United States. It is a very calm and quite place to sit and meditate. They have different services available for those who want to attend worship services... it is one of its kind in the States and a good place to
I didnât know that this small restaurant existed until a friend recommended that I come here for supper. Itâs part of a small and quiet strip mall near the railroad tracks and doesnât stand out much from the road. However, the food here is of s
A really nice gallery. It's very eclectic, going from early 19th Century to Contemporary. Lots of small galleries of the main room with great surprises around each corner. Look for the Childe Hassan, Georgia O'Keeffe, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol as
Any time we can find a space that tells us a bit more about the new location we happen to be visiting, we try our best to stop there. The PoCo Museum is free and worth the stop. You should plan to spend an hour or two there to really get a feel for t
A very Beautiful place to visit. It makes you feel like a Kid again with All the skillful designed Trains and the History that goes with it! It also has very nice trails to walk for hiking or just to be out in nature and you can also bring your horse
This is a great place to go for a walk or hike! I enjoy coming here to fish the lake, although it is a heavily pressured lake, it's still fun! Also, they have a few playgrounds for the small children that are decent.
