Banana Bungalow Maui Hostel - Hostel in Wailuku - 310 N Market St, USA

Ok, let’s start off with this, it is a hostel, not a resort, booking this you should already know that. The staff was super friendly, helpful and responsive. Although we didn’t do the free tours, I think that is an absolutely awesome idea and everyone who came back looked like they had a great time, my wife and I just had a separate agenda. The backyard was a good fun time for unwinding at the end of the day to have a couple beers play some board games. The staff was super good about the 10pm quiet hours. Maui is very open and definitely needs a good visit!

You have to be a people person! Hannah greeted me and was super informative. They have activities and tours daily. I stayed in room 19 a spacious single bedroom. It does get pretty hot in there. There are two bathrooms on the 2nd floor so keep that in mind when wanting to shower. The earlier you shower the better. Walls are very thin so you’ll hear everything especially if you get a couple next to you. You’ll hear doors slamming and people’s conversations all night long even though their quiet hours start at 10pm. If you’re on a tight budget this is a great place. Parking is a hassle especially after 7pm. But I would book here again.

Truly enjoyed our stay here. The staff was very kind & helpful. The whole site was very clean. Often saw bathrooms being cleaned, etc. The tours were pretty amazing and made planning for our trip nice & easy. One of the things I loved most was that with so many visiting here from all over the world, it is place of intentional community with great diversity. And that is so needed today. Highly recommend Banana Bungalow Maui!!!

I stayed seven nights and will definitely return if/when I get back to Maui. Had a great experience. Staff was friendly (shoutouts Mason and Joel). Check-in/check-out was super fast. I traveled solo and had great roommates aside from a single night. Place has a low-key party cabin vibe (some bugs, no AC) which didn't bother me. I managed decent sleep every night with my only real complaint being some guests who seem to make no attempt at being quiet with their doors in the middle of the night/early morning. I could also see the kitchen closing 10pm-8am being troublesome, but I always packed my food/water for the next day's hike before bed, so it was never an issue. My mornings were packed so I only managed to do one of the tours but had a great time and others said the rest of the tours were equally fun. TLDR: Want a sterilized, quiet place? Not here. But if you want a chill place to unwind, play some games and chat to some fellow travelers, I had a great experience. The place is more than the sum of its parts.

One of the best hostel experiences I have had. All of the staff are so friendly and warm and we met such amazing people during our time there. Could not recommend this place enough. Special shoutout to Mason and Hannah who were the best tour guides and had so much knowledge on the island :) Love from Ireland <3

I had the most amazing stay here! The energy the staff and guests bring really highlighted my trip. Mikey is a ball of energy that will brighten up your days. Lara made my check in very easy and inviting. I will absolutely visit again.

This is the best hostel I’ve stayed at! The staff leads amazing tours and creates an amazing community within the hostel. I would recommend this hostel to any young adult looking to have fun and make friends! A special thank you to Laura, Mason, Hannah, and AJ for making this such an amazing experience.

Hostel is ok, not the cleanest, it is a place where young travellers go to have fun and party. You will hear a lot of people talk at night. If you want a clam environment, I would not recommend this hostel. Great service tho.
