Grand old place with outside patio and great old place inside. Historic features and old time Irish pub look. They also have banquet space and lots of room. The outside and some areas are dated and in need of repairs. But the food is actually good and drinks cold. There is plenty of parking on the street and large garage for Hollywood casino area. Their place has seen better times. But definitely still kicking for a great drinks and quick lunch.
We wanted to try somewhere different and this is in the perfect location in Aurora. Upon entry you have 3 options of where you want to eat, we chose to go left to eat. Our waiter was very kind, our drinks were nice (the ginger beer was the best one I’ve had yet) our food was full of flavor and DELICIOUS, the fries were PERFECTION extremely delicious and not pictured was my husbands burger that he said was very good, the manager came and made sure everything was up to par, we had a great experience. We will be back.
Wonderful restaurant near the Paramount Theater. The interior is really pretty. Lots if beautiful decor that adds to the Irish pub feel. The outdoor area was right next to the Fox River. I grew up in this town and the downtown area was pretty dumpy. The city has really done a great job cleaning up the area. It was truly pretty with planters everywhere. The stairs that lead to the river were closed as some if them were crumbling and not safe to use. The food was delicious. I had the fish and chips. The service was good. He was very busy and still managed to stop by the table a couple of times I will eat here again. I want to try other items as they looked wonderful when the wait staff brought them out.
Let's talk about that taco trio.... Genuinely delicious! Corned beef, fish and chicken! One of each made however you like it. I love the idea of the corned beef it was delish! The whole atmosphere was inviting and great!
Good Fish n chips. Pretty good Buffalo wings. Reuben was ok. Has a old Chicago style Irish pub feel to it. Jukebox not connected to other speakers so if you play music, you should sit close to the speaker. Can’t hear it by the bar. Clean. Friendly service.
Totally recommended, the place is beautiful, the ambientantion really looks like an Irish pub, the sight to the river is unique. All the food that i order was delicious as hell and i'm not exagerating, honestly i wasn't expectig the food to be that good. The prices might look a bit high but once people see the size of the portion, understand that the price is exactly what you pay for. 100% satisficed.
Needed to get out a try something other than burgers. Ballydoyle did not disappoint. Ordered shepherds pie, was very tasty, it was tomato based, reminded me of chili but tasted yummy. Hubby had fish n chips always a good stand by, not too greasy however they have changed their fries to the "coated" kind. Personally we are not fans of those kind of fries, I miss the "normal" fries. Also out of the beers we ordered so went to the standby Guinness.
I came early afternoon on a Sunday, not much of a crowd yet. Great drink options and the Rueben I had was pretty good. Good service. The bartender Gerald was very attentive. I will come back again.
