Our waitress Vicky shepherded us through the choices, making the "Service" and "Atmosphere" 5-star from the get-go.
I got Komplet Lepinja, my wife ordered Smoked Pork Shank (daily special) and my son chose Oxtail (also d.s.), finishing up with Balkan Taste cake. The food and drinks, along with Miss Vicky's continued service, pushed all star ratings to 6!
The $20 to $30 rating is only because my wife's and son's specials were a little more expensive than the standard menu item prices (but fully worth it for the taste) and taking into account the other things ordered (see receipt).
My wife's comment as we pulled away: "It didn't feel like a restaurant, it felt like we were at someone's home."
This place is darling, the food was truly delicious, the chicken had a really nice smoky flavor to it.
The homemade bread was too good.
Super friendly, highly recommend this spot.
To be clear my review is not about food, but rather attitude to customers. I bought two pieces of honey sheet cake yesterday. When opened box at home both were end/corner pieces. I understand that the shop needs to sell those too, but both?!? It was my first time in the shop and I’m not coming back…
My first visit to Balkan Taste. A restaurant with lots of table room. A Serbian atmosphere with delicious, ethnic great food. I had the oxtails which weren't on the menu. However, was recommended by the waiter. My food came, oxtails were boneless with a unique flavor, almost intoxicating, along with a plethora plate of grilled veggies. Of course, I couldn't eat all of it so a doggie bag was in order. All in all, Balkan Taste was a great experience and can't to visit again.
Very clean and nice place with excellent food, exceptional home made cakes with great selection and over all of that, very good courteous and friendly personal. We enjoyed surprise double birthday party we were invited to by our dear friend. Will come back soon. Keep up good work guys!
Well I discovered this restaurant on my way home from work this past Thursday as I was eating at my Bulgarian restaurant that I'm familiar with called Sophia grill. Well I made it as a bucket list to try and I am glad I did this because I was looking for something different and Eastern European cuisine is always interesting coming from eating to much of the popular ethnic food that I was getting tired of. One thing I noticed with these Eastern European restaurants as they don't give water when dining in. Anyways wanted something different than my usual popular mainstream ethic food and this was it. Well in comparison to Bulgarian they had much more variety. I started with the Balkan Serbian beef soup in which they also give bread and it was uniquely delicious well to me. It wasn't tomato base it was much more savory and gravy with the herbs in which you eat it with bread. The next dish was the Serbian Balkan sausage just called "Cevapeici with Kaymak" and it was also tasty too if not uniquely delicious. They put onions underneath as garnish and light spices. Ordered some mixed vegetables which was a good choice. It was zucchini and the sweet peppers and paprika that was grilled very delicious and savory. I also ordered another smoothie like drink both in strawberry first and in blueberry as a beverage to say don't give water. I like the blueberry more but the strawberry was good too since there's not too many blueberry beverages. I ended it up with the Balkan cake which was also delicious too in regards to the flavor it was like a cheesecake texture with strawberries and graham cracker bread as the base. After my low calorie diet for a month and a week in March I definitely will come back here and try some of the other specials they also have Balkan hamburgers Serbian style but I shall see next to Beef Stew with Mash Potatoes. Four out of five stars because they don't serve water. If they do it's bottle water and I did not want to pay. Somewhat expensive dinner at $50 I ordered worth of food alone but overall it was delicious
I went with a group of 10. First time there. I had my heart set on the stew but they were out of it. I shouldn't have worried. My 2nd choice was great. In fact, the consensus was excellent from everyone about the food. No one disliked their dish. Prices were very reasonable and I would definitely go again.
Stopped in on a whim and could not be more impressed! We told the server it was our first time here (yes, we’re still here and leaving this review now because it’s that good) and he gave us recommendations for what to order. Great choice! The taste was top notch, the serving sizes huge, and the bread never ending. Would recommend 10 outta 10!!
I first off have to say the extreme family like atmosphere, authentic feel, and kindness of the staff made me feel like I was eating in my own house. The food was excellent and their grill to cook the meats on worked without fail and was able to cook
Delicious, freshly prepared seafood!
I ordered the fried catfish dinner, which was 3 nice-sized pieces of cornbread battered catfish. Dirty rice was delicious and corn on the cob was good.
My wife ordered the small fried shrimp basket. Piping hot shr
Tried a new place at least for us. Atmosphere is cute and breakfasty. Service excellent. First the cappuccino and latte were not only excellent but very reasonably priced. I was actually shocked at how good the prices were. Then the honey biscuits we
