Beautiful views. Sunset from north to south is was amazing. Deer grazing just up skyline drive made for an absolutely dream like experience. Deep step down to a rock landing with sweeping views. Overlook was clear and well kept. No facilities. But def worth the stop.
Beautiful place to visit during sunset. I am not a fan of the $30 price tag to get into the park. I think that this should be re-evaluated based on operating cost. The only park rangers I saw there was at the entrance. Not saying they were slacking just not sure what the cost could be to let nature be.... Nature! There are several lookouts to catch the views which I definitely appreciated. Our 12 year old told us this is the first time she truly appreciated God's earth!! That alone is enough reason to come back every chance we get.
I go to the scenic overlooks and record a time lapse video of the sunset. In July, 7:50-8:00 is the recommended start time for filming and the last of the sun disappears over the mountain around 8:30 pm. Also close to the entrance off the main road. Enjoy.
From the Swift Run Gap Entrance Station, I traveled Skyline Drive, stopping at some incredible viewing locations. Baldface Mountain is one, where the elevation is 3325 feet.
