Went here with a five year old who really wanted yo make blue pancakes at the griddle table. Had to wait for one, but not very long. The food came very fast, and the colored pancake batters were ready immediately. We also had a one-year-old, and the griddle table made his antics a bit more anxiety-inducing. Probably would have been better if they were both a bit older.
If you’re looking for a unique local breakfast during your trip to Florida, this is the place for you! Hands down, they serve the best buttermilk pancakes I have ever had. The pancakes are the size of a dinner plate. I hope you’re hungry if you order the Shaq Stack. The coffee service is second to none. My cup was never empty or cold during our time at Backwater. And! What really makes this a unique establishment are the pancake griddle tables. The booths have built in pancake griddles where you can make your own custom pancakes. You can order traditionally as well. We will be coming back before our trip is over and referring all our friends to come when you visit Florida!
We had such fun here today! Service is the friendliest we’ve experienced in a while! Shout out to our server Sarah and the other lovely lady who greeted us and filled our waters (sorry we didn’t get her name!) The food was good and at decent price points. We loved it!
Fantastic food. Menu is a little different but don’t let that fool you. I had a great Cajun omelette with home fries, biscuit, and gravy. Oh my you have to try the gravy. Spicy just the Way I like it. The place is exceptionally clean. Great place to eat.
It's a great experience to dine in at Backwater. Backwater supports a family dining atmosphere and a must try to experience, the joys of making your own pancakes and have them just as they get off the griddle which is in front of you. The pancakes come with several toppings besides syrup which is of good quality. I recommend you try one of their Benedicts or other dishes, you will leave with smiles in your stomach, heart, and on your face.
What an experience! The food is phenomenal Breakfast.. Gator .. OJ .. beer.. ham .. fried green tomatoes... Buttermilk pancakes.. or lemon poppy/orange zest/Oreo... 😳 ... They have tons of normal breakfast and big honking potatoes they call home fries.. you can get grits or toast... They have sandwiches with shrimp.. veggies... More Gator . Tons of sides.. coffee. Coke. OJ or strawberry lemonade.. very in tune staff.. nice find. Thanks to the awesome stretch zone experience next door. Beautiful real crocodile/alligator skull chandelier.. 💞 gorgeous decor. My son and I went in for brunch. Well kept place. Clean. Amazingly friendly staff. It’s a bit pricey but the food is always so good. Today we did the griddle where you make your own pancakes. It’s great for kids.
Incredible place! I loved the lemon poppy seed pancakes and the bacon. The DIY pancake griddles are such a fun idea! The coffee was also wonderful, would highly recommend!
