Ayres Hotel Manhattan Beach/Hawthorne - Featured Reviews (1852)
Wonderful staff, beautiful hotel, very clean room. What really made this hotel exceptional though were the gracious staff. I'm a single mom with kids and was juggling a lot of luggage and responsibilities. Front desk did a favor and checked us in immediately so we could settle in and relax and also make ourselves ready for the shuttle to go to the beach. Pool was meticulously cleaned and we used the hot tub while waiting which was perfect. On checkout day, staff bussed us to the beach and mall and then encouraged us to go swimming again while we waited for our late night flight. Kids had so much fun and they really made us feel so welcome.
Adequate. Nice staff. Building has more character than a cookie-cutter hotel chain. Some negatives though: by the freeway and area not walkable. Far from beach and shuttle service infrequent and not as advertised. What we saved on the room we more than paid back in ride shares to and from the beach. Room was musty and only window faced out onto parking lot at street-level so not much for views or privacy. There was a constant electrical buzzing sound from outside. The mattress was old and sunk in and also seemed smaller than the king size that was advertised. Too many mirrors and they were warped so the effect was unsettling. Plus the lights flickered dramatically when turned on. Finally, no breakfast included. In sum, fine for a quick place to crash for a one night layover at LAX. But for a beach vacation, the value isn't there.
My family and I recently stayed at the Ayres Hotel Manhattan Beach / Hawthorne while visiting California for a beach volleyball tournament in Hermosa Beach. This hotel was really great. The decor is in an old European style and well-maintained. The rooms were very clean, modern, and quite large. The location was great, with easy access to the beach of about 10 minute drive. Also close proximity to LAX, which was helpful. Lots of airline cruise stay at this hotel, which certainly speaks volumes to the consistency of service they provide. The outdoor courtyard, elevated second level patio, and interior sitting rooms were all very comfortable and great places to do a little work and get away from everything else for a bit. The Wi-Fi was reliable and fast, and the room price was very competitive and a good value. The only item I might mention is that the pool is a bit underwhelming, so if you’re traveling with children and want a large/extravagant pool experience, this probably isn’t the hotel for you. I would stay here again in a heartbeat anytime I travel to this area of Los Angeles.
This is my second stay at this beautiful Ayres Hotel, and again I enjoyed it! My room was nicely decorated, super clean, and smelled fresh. King size bed was especially comfortable; I simply melted into it! Quite a spacious room, too! Lots of eateries are close by so I really appreciated the fridge and microwave to store/heat leftovers! Would be really nice, however, if the hotel offered their patrons at least one or two 'free' bottles of water since they don't offer complimentary breakfast like most other Ayres hotels offer. As well, most other Ayres hotels offer their patrons free parking. Twenty dollars a night is a bit much for unsecured parking. The one unfortunate thorn in my side I experienced at BOTH my stays is that the guests above me were not very mindful (or cared) that quests were below them! Seemed as though they were running a marathon all times of the day and night! Not cool. But... because my room was so comfy, I was able to focus less on their terrible inconsideration and more on my BEAUTIFUL ROOM! Should I stay at this lovely Ayres hotel again, I will DEFINITELY stay on the TOP FLOOR! This is the main reason for the Four Star rating.
BEAUTIFUL HOTEL. No other way to describe it. You'll feel like your at a palace or something like that. Beautiful paintings, sculptures, tapestries, bookshelves, amazing staircase and chandelier. We finished our honeymoon here and wished we would have stayed there the whole time. The rooms are classically decorated. We loved everything about it. Besides all the decor they provide great service. Jake was our front desk attendant and was amazing with us. We loved everything about it.
Our stay was exceptional. A truly beautiful quality hotel. Staff very helpful and accommodating. Enjoyed the spacious quiet room, comfortable bed, convenient parking and 12:00 checkout time.
Made our concert experience a real dream night.
This place is not the best Ayers hotel; in fact it might be the worst. We have stayed in many of the locations & have been extremely satisfied. This one: not so much.
1. You have to pay $20 to park in a parking lot that isn’t secure. The gates were always open.
2. The room is extremely dated. The TV is like a 40” (maybe).
3. There isn’t a free breakfast. I know, I should have checked but EVERY OTHER ONE I STAYED IN BEFORE HAD THIS AS A PERK!
4. There is a restaurant on the property but the prices were outrageous. This wasn’t a Michelin starred restaurant but the prices were.
Attention Ayers management. This hotel does not live up to your other site’s standards. MAKE SOME CHANGES, please? The 2 stars was me being generous because I love your chain. I will not be returning here.
Check in was smooth. My room lights had a flickering problem coming on plus hot water pressure was off. The maid service did not service room upon request. These things were fixed but should not have been an issue for such nice looking hotel. Statues, paintings, and pool area are magical. I overall liked the look of things.

Stayed here in 2019. Stayed again in 2023 and it's still on point. Tasteful decor, looks and smells clean. Nice spacious suites and common areas. Sofa bed mattress looked rather tattered, but room was perfect otherwise
I stayed here for 2 nights, my room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I did see a small bug on my last day there but with people cooking in the rooms there's bound to be bugs. The room has a small kitchen with a stove top, full fridge and microw
I reserved a 1 bedroom suite. Upon my arrival, I was informed that my room was not available. I was offered a studio suite. I was not pleased but at 8pm on a Friday night I didn't have many options so we took the room. On Saturday afternoon the manag
Went here for donuts one morning with the family and thought it was so good that we went again the next morning during our trip to L.A. the donuts were fresh and tasted great even the day after. The staff was very friendly and accommodating as well.
This was an accidental fine. I've always wanted to actually have someone's grandmother make me some Filipino food. Well I actually found a place this lady that runs this place. The food is delicious. It's what I imagined and then some and they do a r

Very good trail to have our girls ride their bike and tricycle! We brought our dog on a leash and flew a kite too. There's the freeway noise but it wasn't too bad. About as much noise as crashing waves at the beach. It actually made it feel like bein
