My husband and I had stayed at this location when it was Sonesta Suites. We had always enjoyed our stay. However, since the new ownership, it is not the same positive experience. There was a huge rust stain in the tub, the toilet paper dispenser had been removed from the wall and not replaced. But the towels were the worst! We had never seen such small bath towels in all of our years at any hotel anywhere. They were a little bit bigger than a hand towel. It was like child-size and the most ridiculous. The room smelled musty as well. The only positives were the pillows and the pool. I would not recommend this hotel. You're better off at Pier 4 or Watson's in Ocean City.

Stayed here several times over the years. Typically we love it. But since they changed the name they also changed the breakfast times without letting us know. No hot breakfast during the week was a major letdown. Had to wait almost an hour to check in even though we booked the room months in advance. The air conditioner in the room didn't work, during a heatwave no less. Pool was nice. Especially since it was a HEATWAVE! Rooms were fine. Could have been a touch cleaner, but overall it was okay. Love the location. Center of everywhere we go. Not sure if we'll give it another chance or not.

This place is misrepresented by the photos. Upon arrival it is clear it is an old property that is run down. The lobby is not welcoming and the person behind the desk was FaceTiming and did not get off for a few minutes while I was standing there. To clarify, I do not stay at fancy hotels but do like things to be clean. We checked in and went to our room. Screens are ripped, paint is peeling off every door/trim and there were piles of cigarette butts and trash in the stones in multiple places. The room was dirty, cobwebs everywhere, rust in the freezer shelves, closet, caulking to fill trim in the bathroom was gross and paint peeling off the bathroom door. The surface of everything had grime and the TV did not work. Location is good but that is about it. We didn’t eat there but from what I saw from the breakfast it was two hot trays and nothing else. One day they had no coffee. I don’t drink coffee but found that funny. Upon checkout I was looking for staff and walked all over to not find a single person. Honestly wanted to make sure I got charged accurately as this place seems not on point. Again I travel a lot and stay at Hilton chains like Tru and Hampton Inn and they are cheaper options and always clean, secure and have a good breakfast. This place has none of those things.

The woman who checked me in at the front desk was surly. I asked if any of the hotel was renovated and she informed me the hotel was closing after the summer. That likely explained why our room looked gross, to the point where I would not walk barefoot on the carpet. Housekeeping had clearly cleaned it but it was decrepit. Rust on the closet shelves, dirty lampshade, door to HVAC filled with dust (so anyone with allergies would have a hard time here—I kept sneezing).||Another reviewer mentioned small towels. Well, how about NO towels, just two washcloths. When I called the front desk to ask Housekeeping to bring some, the front desk woman informed me that Housekeeping was “very busy” and I could come get them myself. I was in a rush to get ready for a wedding and asked if they could be brought and two more times she told me to come get them myself. At most hotels, if Housekeeping neglected to leave towels they’d bring them as a courtesy, but this hotel clearly could have cared less.||The tub looked gross: They had glued on a white piece of plastic to hide rust and discoloration but some was still visible. Avis had slapped new paint onto the room (there was blue paint drizzled over the tub) but it was like putting lipstick on a pig. ||I went to the front desk and promptly checked out—driving two hours home at the end of the wedding that night was way more appealing than staying there. I recommend avoiding this sorry excuse for a hotel if you can and finding a place where the hotel cares about its guests and the quality of its rooms.

Definitely needs some TLC! Entrance door looked horrible. Once inside very spacious but carpets were very stained. Went to make breakfast next day, only ONE pot (large pot), no frying pan, no cooking utensils, just tongs! And for a place that technically could sleep 8 people there was only THREE FORKS 😳. Has a dishwasher but no detergent for it. On a positive side the beds were very comfortable and the shower pressure was good. Hopefully new owners will do some improvements. Management also needs to keep better track of when people check in & out. Had someone use a room key to enter our room when we still had another day before we check out.

It's sad this nice location has turned into a hotel disaster. We have been here twice in 3 years. This time, it was unacceptable. Everything you read is accurate, but we were fortunate that our stay wasn't as bad as other recent postings. The place is to be turned into some type of apartment housing in the future, so nobody is interested in maintenance or upkeep. There are issues too numerous to mention, but bring your sanitizing material if you come here. Yes on dirty air filters, carpets, paint stains along with hanging toilet paper dispensers. 3 forks and no teaspoons in a sparsely appointed kitchen. We cleaned everything upon entering with wipes. Unfortunately, Somers Point hasn't much for lodging that's appealing.

As a frequent traveler due to work, i have used Sonesta Suites which is now Avia on several trips. Over the last year, there seems to be an increasing number of issues with this property. Door locks not working, room cleanliness is superficial at best, smell of weed permeates the property, and on recent visit, A/c was non functioning. The room they gave me, however was somehow already occupied, and they had no other rooms available. I was left with no other option except to scramble around to find some place else in the middle of the night. Will not be retuning to this location.

The absolute worst and disgusting hotel experience of a lifetime. Was greeted by front desk lady who was on the phone with family . We waited for ten minutes before she said “oh are you checking in?” Checked into our “suite” which included bugs (of all kinds), bloody sheets , dirty plates , silverware and left over food from previous guest in refrigerator. The shower was coated in dirt and sand. The floors had dog pee spots all over the room. Found what appeared to be a pile of dirt in the corner of the room which actually turned out to be a dead frog. Rocks were in the pool. The back patio by the pool was infested with ants and roaches… went to pull out the extra bed was electrocuted by exposed wires under the bed.. room reeked of cigarettes and onions the entirety of our stay . Asked for extra towels for the bathroom the second day and was told we needed to wait four hours for extra towels. Complimentary breakfast included burnt eggs , old sausage , stale bagels and bug infested cereal. Watched a persons dog get attacked by another dog ….. the other dog ended up needing stitches. The worst of all was the front desk help , two women with attitudes miserable and unhappy to be doing their job. Felt bad for the male cleaning the pool and taking care of maintenance . He was the kindest most helpful person in the hotel. Man deserves a raise for dealing with such an atrocity of a hotel.DO NOT GET FOOLED BY PICTURES ON WEBSITE. Rooms are out dated and absolutely disgusting. I can’t believe this place hasn’t been closed for health code violations . The icing on the cake was the air condition that didn’t work in 90 degree weather. Owner truly needs to find another gig. Do not WASTE YOUR MONEY.
