Ava Haus Cabin - Bed & breakfast in Fredericksburg - 1447 Royal Oaks Ln, USA

The property is wonderful, only a few miles west of the main strip in Fredericksburg. There are 3 different places to stay on the property. My finance and I stayed in Ava's Suite, which is the main house on the property. It has 2 bedrooms with 3 beds and a very large living area as well as fully equipped bathroom separating them. The check in and check out process were seamless and we received a text a few days before check in outlining all of the details. The house was beautiful and the bed in the master bedroom was very soft and comfortable. There is a mini kitchenette in the hallway that has a fridge and even some wine glasses so you can pop open the bottle you purchased that day! :) The rates were cheaper than most in the area and we found availability on short notice when everything in town was booked and pricier. I'm so glad we found this place and I will DEFINITELY stay here again.

Perfect combination of old Texas living and modern amenities. Gracious and attentive hosts. Just two miles from heart of Fredericksburg. Ignore older reviews as they reflect the previous owner, who also happened to be named Patricia.. You will not regret staying in any of the 3 living areas available. We stayed 4 nights in the Dariy Barn and it was great. Specially the spacious front porch from which to watch the sunset over the surrounding hills.

This is a legitimate authentic 1800s German farmhouse, only a 5-minute drive from Main Street. It has two queen beds and a futon sofa. The farmhouse has been updated with modern amenities, but the modern things like the TV and microwave have been hidden inside the cabinets, so the farmhouse looks like it would have 150 years ago, which is very cool. It was easy to arrive late, and our host provided pastries for breakfast. Our only complaints are that the water pressure is low and that the shower head is precarious and fell while we were showering.

We stayed in the Garden Cottage, a separate little cottage next to the main home. Pros: I was afraid the cottage would be too small, but the room was very spacious with a king size bed, coffee area, small refrigerator and table with two chairs. The bath was large as well with a claw foot tub/shower combination. The room was stocked with coffee and fixings, instant oatmeal, yogurt and a locally made German coffeecake. There is a small television with satellite TV. The cottage is very cute and although it was on the 290, the road noise didn’t bother us. Cons: The home is for sale and I kind of got the feeling that Pattie has already mentally moved out. No one contacted me the day before with arrival instructions. The cupboard had one spoon, one fork, one dinner plate, two mismatched coffee cups, a few wine glasses and no water glasses. The bathroom is charming, but it needs updating because it isn’t very functional. The fixtures are old. The only outlet in the bathroom is low on the wall opposite the sink, making it difficult to use the hairdryer. If you want to charge a toothbrush, you would have to set it on the floor next to the toilet. If you’ve ever taken a shower in a claw foot tub, I don’t need to elaborate, except to say this tub is peeling and the plumbing is circa 1970. A reading chair would be really nice. There isn’t really any place to curl up with a book except on the bed. I don’t mean to be harsh because Ava Haus is a really, really cute place. I just think with a few tweeks it could be great.

We stayed in "the studio". Sleeps 4. Very nice. Quaint and clean inside. Comfortable bed, clean bathroom, nice towels. Within 2 miles of town, so very convenient. When you arrive, the owner has provided a Danish for brrakfast and stocked the fridge with yogurt and orange juice. Not much to do here, but pleasant stay. Only cons: from the outside, it is pretty rustic, needs some repairs. Bring your own soap, shampoo and stuff as that is not provided. The actual sign, "suite", to identify the building is only half readable.

With several cottage choices, my husband and I stayed in one of the smallest. The cabin is immaculately clean, well appointed with amenities including internet access and the interior is lovely. Breakfast is prompt and delicious. Parking is easily accessible and the location is quiet and cozy. The very busy staff maintains courtesy and personal attention. This place is a keeper!!

My wife and friends booked another stay at AVA HAUS to see if they wee truly are great as we thought they were when we were there last. NO DIFFERENCE!! They do everything RIGHT! We even set up a Wine tour of the dozens of Wineries in the area!!! We were briefed on scenic places close to Fredericksburg and fantastic "Hole in the Wall" places that the LOCALS visit!!! WOW!!! We just booked again this October ,because we LOVE IT there and it's SO AFFORDABLE for a retired TEACHER!!!

Perfect place to stay to capture the essence of Fredricksburg! Reasonably priced, close to town, sleeps 3 or 4 comfortably, luxurious linens and towels, complimentary snacks and stocked mini fridge, old historic cabin with living space to visit, beautiful patio and an additional fireplace patio!
