This was the first zoo trip my boyfriend has ever been on! He’s 26 but he was so amazed by all the close up animals. The animals looked healthy and active, as they could be. Their enclosures looked nice, we even met a chimp with a cheetah blanket, he was adorable! The bat house was really unique, I’ve been to a couple zoos in my life but never had an experience like that. The swampland exhibit was amazing too. I love how they educate people on the animals as well and provide information about their status as endangered or not. They inform visitors about a lot of charities and organizations around the world that are working to help the animals, and that’s the best reason to visit: your money isn’t just going towards keeping animals in the zoo, they have breeding programs for endangered animals and work with conservation groups to keep them alive in the wild too.
I really love going to this zoo. The membership is worth it! You get into events for free or at discounted prices. If you go just 2-4 times a year it makes up for the membership. The bathrooms are clean, the roads are well kept as well. There are some great displays of the animals. There are some small interactive stations sometimes. For instance to pet and learn about baby alligators. There's a petting zoo as well. Can't wait for the lion exhibit to be finished. They recently added a bat exhibit which is great, and two more play areas. There is a large play Area that will be near the lions. It is great. Has a long fun slide that adults can even go on (careful with little ones it's very fast). It has a water feature and rocks to climb on as well. The food options in the swamp exhibit are pretty good, and in the gift shop in the swamp there's a baby alligator exhibit. Follow the swamp trail all the way around! There is a very educational and fun exhibit about reptiles and insects. It's in a small building with a porch on front. Also don't forget the the large reptile house! It's actually under ground and off to the left of the sea lions down a ways. Lots of very cool and interesting amphibians and reptiles. Along the way there is a Komodo dragon! They also have a nocternal animal area.
Back at it again. We have a membership to the Audubon Zoo, Aquarium & Insecterium. I gotta say money well spent. Love how fun it can be. Today was a Labor Day and it rained before us getting there so they park emptied. Good 2 hours walk with my kid. If you plan in going more than twice a year. Get a membership.
The Audubon Zoo was extremely well designed and maintained. The animals habitats were spacious and the animals looked happy and active! The staff was extremely friendly and informative and the food was great.
One of the best zoo's I have been to. Can't wait for the Lions. There is excitement around every corner.
Spend a beautiful day in one of Nola’s most breathtaking neighborhoods. The Audubon Zoo is a world class exhibit and the back drop may be even more impressive. Spend a day Uptown visiting this great venue, then head down Magazine St for shopping, cocktails and great restaurants!
Incredible zoo with a lot of great exhibits. We had a blast. The wheelchair rentals also don't price-gauge like some places try to, which was nice since I'd hurt my ankle earlier that day and really wasn't looking forward to walking around everywhere. It was definitely worth it to get the Audubon package. Even if you only do 2 of the 3 attractions, it's worth it!
A great place for kids too see animals. The cool zoo is a really nice touch to the zoo for kids to run around and cool off in the water. They also have monkey hill where kids can play. The animals range from African safari animals, tropical birds, Asian mammals, to reptiles. The zoo is always improving their exhibits and expanding them to make the animals more comfortable.
