Auburn Place Hotel & Suites - Hotel in Cape Girardeau - 3265 William St, USA

Over the past 25 years, my family has stayed at this hotel almost yearly on our way to Mississippi. It became a tradition that we all looked forward to. That ended this week. We spent one night with our kids in an adjoining room. At 1:30am someone knocked on our door. We did not answer but called the front desk at which point I was told there were homeless staying in the hotel. She told me she would make sure they didn’t come back. We couldn’t sleep for the next 2 hours. The following morning we were joined by many of these individuals at breakfast. It was a bit unnerving for all of us. I honestly have no problem with the hotel having compassion on a cold night but I would have liked the opportunity to decide if I wanted to stay there. We will not return.

We've stayed here twice and been very pleased. Very clean. Good breakfast in a lovely atrium dining area. Great for families to enjoy and chat or play games

Located in a good spot for travellers. The workers were very friendly, and our room was nice and clean. The pool was awesome; it had a little pool that was maybe 1.5 feet that was sort of like a shelf attached to the big pool with a small divider between them. It was great for letting my kids be in the small one while I was in the big one.

Check in was fast and friendly. The room was extremely clean. The breakfast in the morning had great variety and the hot food was out and lots of overall choices available. I needed to check out a few minutes later and staff was super accommodating. The hotel is in easy walking distance to numerous restaurants. Located right off the interstate highway. Tons of shopping nearby as well. Wonderful hotel at a great value

Nice petite queen suite. Breakfast is good. Just don’t get an inner room. At no fault to the hotel because they do have signs posted but every morning there was at least one group of early birds to the breakfast area that ignored the signs and woke me up every morning during the posted quiet time.

This was a VERY disappointing stay for my dad and I as we were there for one of our families funeral services. Upon checking in after driving 9 hours, my dad was rudely assisted by a lady that was on staff at the front desk (we arrived after 11:55 pm). I waited in the car for my dad as I noticed this woman NOT being fully engaged with my dad and NO eye contact whatsoever. Her mannerisms appeared to show that she was not in the mood to serve him, give him his room that he reserved, and had a bad attitude. My dad came out of the lobby very frustrated and was told that he would have to pay an extra $168 to check into the rooms he had reserved for our cousins funeral. My dad told me that the woman at the desk gave off vibes that she was racist and was basically trying to get him to leave and go away so she wouldn't have to deal with him. He was told to come back and check in after 3 pm the next day! Thankfully, one of our cousins who had an extra room, allowed us to stay with him after hearing what happened. The next morning, around 6:30 am, my dad went to the front desk to speak with someone about what transpired. The woman that was on shift apologetically took care of my dad, was fully engaged in conversation, and showed empathy for the horrible experience. God showed up in the mist of the situation and we were blessed without having to pay for our room. Thank you to the on shift personnel who tried to correct the problem. I leave saying this, I pray this is not normal behavior from your staff. I suggest providing proper training on work ethics and moral for ALL employees. This treatment my dad dealt with at 12 pm was UNACCEPTABLE and DISTASTEFUL!!!!

Pool was extremely dirty and needed to be cleaned. Hair balls clung to the walls that had been there for days. Room never got new towels until we had to lay the dirty ones outside the room. Sign in the room stated all we had to do is leave them on the floor in the room to get fresh ones. Hotel needs to be updated as well. Pool is starting to crumble. Pool tables barely worked.

It's an older hotel but I enjoy it when staying in the area with my kids. There is a lot to keep them entertained and I like the location. Also the price is great.
