This is a place where you feel both pampered and at home. It feels like what it is: a slice of heaven, the real Maine with all its glorious beauty and understated elegance. This was our honeymoon, and we loved it! The complimentary Breakfast was full of gourmet goodies: figs, cashew granola, home-baked blueberry coffee cake to name a few. The meals in the Dining Room were graced with the original exquisite hand-painted wallpaper and with spectacular water views that set the atmosphere for our delicious food and sumptuous drinks. We just loved the balcony in our room and sat there to enjoy our panoramic view and sip champagne. Who can ask for anything more?

We were all so comfortable here! We loved the topsider cottage, with amazing views of the harbor - we could watch the seals in the harbor from our bed! The kids shared a futon comfortably which fit nicely in the room with the entry and kitchenette. The larger room had the bed, a closet and full bath - which could use an update, but was fine for us. |The location is awesome! Very easy to drive in to Acadia, and very close to Northeast Harbor with good restaurants and where we took a great boat trip. The Azalea Gardens and Thuya Preservation are wonderful and right across the street. ||The hotel pool and giant chess set were a hit with the kids, as was the breakfast. The flower arrangements in the main lobby were beautiful. It was charming and comfortable, and pet-friendly! We all very much enjoyed it!

Booked the Asticou on the recommendation of a friend, noting that if you wanted the real Maine feel this was a perfect spot. Yes, it is a bit old, but given its age, it’s in amazing shape. Rooms are a bit small but clean and great beds. Also, this is an amazing location. Bar Harbor is great, but overrun. Northeast is amazing and I will stay there every time! Above all the service was amazing. The staff was super helpful and very nice. The bartender Kip was one of the best employees I have ever met. A perfect combination of friendly, funny, and helpful. He helped make it a wonderful vacation. Do whatever he recommends!

I booked this place based on the location to Acadia National Park and also something that wasn’t over the top expensive since were road tripping with our two kids to multiple destinations. I honestly have no idea why some people gave it such bad reviews! I was contemplating between giving it 4 to 5 stars since I really only had one complaint. First off, the hotel is over 140 years old. With that said, it’s going to be old! There are going to be things that aren’t perfect, but I loved the old feel and it felt how I imagined being in Maine would be. We had a one bedroom suite and it was perfect size for our kids. There as no air conditioner it they did provide box fans. I’m assuming this is normal for Maine. The water pressure was great and the shower was hot! The view from the Inn is absolutely beautiful and overlooking the Harbor. Breakfast is included which was a huge plus for us and we did enjoy an evening dinner at the restaurant. No complaints and the food was great. The food was extremely expensive but traveling the east coast I was realizing these prices are normal for the area, and tourist location. I loved having dinner outside overlooking the harbor. My only real complaint is the pool area. The pool is great and was so refreshing after a day of hiking, it the upkeep on the pool is lacking. Around the pool needs power washed and weeds pulled. There were weeds all over the pool area. I saw the works cleaning and mopping the indoor Inn multiple times a day, but they need to focus on the pool area. Other than that the service was great. Everyone was friendly, kind and attentive. I also loved the it was on the Northeast side of the Harbor, close to Acadia NP and Bar Harbor, but still a few miles away from the Bar Harbor and set in a more quiet area of the area. We absolutely loved our first time in Maine!

The property is an amazing location on the East Harbor, close to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Great potential as a big old lodge. Very comfortable beds but generally uncomfortable rooms and bathrooms. Needs some “heart”. And definitely needs an emergency generator for at least the water pump and the kitchen for times like the one we just experienced after a bad storm. Generally no prep for safety or comfort of guests.

The room was not cleaned well enough prior to arrival. There was literally dirt and black specs on the floor that we tracked around (in the bed, bathroom, etc). There were bugs all over the room because the windows don’t close properly. The lack of AC was appalling and not advertised. While the fan was a nice gesture, it did nothing to cool down the room. The Wifi was spotty at best. I understand the experience is to unplug, but after a day of hiking outdoors, it’s nice to come back, go into an air conditioned room, and decompress on social media/watch a tv show or movie on a laptop. None of that was possible unfortunately. The view was beautiful, the free breakfast was great, and the concierge was helpful, but that’s about it.

We had dinner at the restaurant. Lovely cocktails and the pop overs are to die for. We started with Abby as our server and, with the shift change, seamlessly switched to Wade. Highly recommend for the service and the VIEWS!

Room was very dated (‘70’s) kind of motel quality but the cost was as if we were in a 5 star luxury hotel. Only 2 out of 3 lightbulbs in the bathroom work. Has a lot of potential with proper updates. Gas station quality coffee.

We hiked up Acadia mountain then found this little gem in downtown Northeast Harbor. The waitress was so sweet and attentive. They have gluten free option for sandwiches and the pizza. We got the seafood pizza, lobster quesadilla, and chicken wings.
