Asilomar Hotel and Conference Grounds - Featured Reviews (2351)
Beds were very comfortable and room was spacious. Breakfast was a wonderful experience - lots of good food, plus we met several very interesting people at our table. I loved being able to walk to the beach to watch the sunset. Only frustration was their wifi wasn't working in our area the first night.
The grounds are walking distance to the beach, they have a nice cafe and shop. The social hall always has a nice fire going. Just be aware that the price you see online is not accurate. Ours said $139 a night; however, when we arrived we were charged $203 a night, plus $23 taxes, plus state park fee, plus a $50 deposit (none of which were disclosed prior to booking and against Senate Bill 478, the honest pricing bill). Our room was clean, but the carpets were very stained, the glass sliding door was broken and the curtains did not close all the way. They say the pool is heated but it is not. We stayed in Embers and the phone to the front desk was broken and the light bulbs in the hallway were missing. We did buy a $42/person dinner only to find out we were sitting with the foreign exchange housekeepers. I learned that the hotel uses these young people to "clean" whole providing them room and board. Nice kids, but if I wanted to sit with the help, I would have just worked a shift in exchange for the free dinner.
If you plan to be out exploring the beautiful area. Then this place is not bad, just make sure you call and ask them for the correct price and fees. I'm sure they will soon comply with the SB 478 which went into effect July 1, 2024 (despite our stay being July 7, 2024). We asked that the manager Samantha honor the price we were quoted at the time of booking but she said she would do it at check out and then was not available. Dishonest pricing, even another employee acknowledged it was "deceptive."
I’m here for an annual retreat and the best part of this facility is the location. If you’re looking for basic accommodations and are comfortable with a few cob webs here and there it’s a lovely spot. I do think the rooms could use a deep cleaning and a remodel, but if you’re looking for a clean bed and shower Asilomar rooms will suffice. It’s in a park so I’m assuming there’s no budget for updates. The staff are always helpful! This part of California is Devine!
This hotel is great for getting away. It was clean, it was quiet, and it was safe...those are my top priorities when staying at a hotel. The rooms are rustic and have a cabin feel to them. The rooms are a bit dated but I think that is what also gives it its appeal. My room didn't have a TV which was cool because the whole point is to be outside. The boardwalk what to the beach, and the beach itself, is what really sold it for me. The sand at this beach is really soft and nice and the boardwalk was nice to be on. It was also pretty cool to see deer just walking along on the property.
Parking could be an issue given that each building has its own small parking area which beachgoers may also use to park if they want to chance it (I did on one of the days). Overall, it is a great hotel and I would stay here again.
Please read all reviews carefully before staying here! The grounds are lovely and the location is sublime but the rooms have not been updated since 1972 and are quite austere. There are no televisions in the rooms so beware of that. The bed was actually decent, surprisingly. There's plentiful parking and there are a couple of food options on property.
My stay at the Asilomar Hotel was fine but a different experience than staying in a standard hotel.||It is rustic with no AC (not always needed). It was a little difficult finding my room because I was directed to park in a different parking lot than the one adjacent to my room. (The facility is spread out over a large park like setting).||I needed an iron and while the room did not have one, the staff brought me one shortly after I called for one.||There was a small amount of ants encountered in the bathroom one day but remember the “park-like” setting.||The facility offers much for naturalists and folks who want to escape from the regular day to day. Not having a tv was welcome.||Most importantly, the room prices don’t change drastically when a large event comes to town which was the draw for me.
This place has not been remodel for years the room smell like old wet carpet ,in fact when we got there the carpet in the room was wet and we were not able to take off our shoes without getting our socks wet.
We check in a 4:00 p.m. but when we get to the room it was not properly clean we have to request for towels and for someone to come and pick up
Previews guess property so they can place it and lost and found .
Bedrooms don't have phone so when you call front desk your call will be send to 1-800 automatic system so you can leave a message so even if you leave messages they won't return your call, if you want something done you really have to go walk in the lobby front desk to do your request,
And in the morning to check out system is to leave your keys in a little basket on top of the front desk,
I really have to find someone around and request a person so they can print me a receipt I don't know I think it's a very odd , old and funny system,
It was a quiet experience everything look like the time stop since 1960
If you looking for the experience of back to the past this is the place.
if you looking for a place where you can quick clean up after spending the whole day on the beach you'll be fine.
Historical hotel and conference center with lots of character and charm. My family has been coming here since I was a kid and I absolutely love this place. It's location and grounds make it a gem. It's walkable to the beach and full of history. Almost feels like summer camp. The rooms are historic and a little older so it feels like the type of hotel rooms you get at national parks. Love taking a walk from our room to the coast and watching the sunset on the beach. Truly unique hotel experience and full of nostalgia and memories.

The rooms were smaller than expected. But if you're intending to be out the whole day
This restaurant was a rather choice in urgency. We arrived quite late in Monterey thus started late on food hunting. We didn't want to drive far so we chose the one with the most guests. We got decent food in big portions at fair prices. If you are n
Great little B&B that is centrally located in Pacific Grove. Walking distance to cannery row, the aquarium and the monarch butterfly sanctuary.
The rooms were clean and everything worked well (for such an old house). We had no problems. There is a ni
A wonderful place to sit and reflect. The crashing waves are always intriguing. There is a path between several benches in the area. A great place to enjoy while on a coastal walk or bike ride.
First time experiencing Maxâs grill and the food was out of this world! Definitely going to be a repeat customer whenever we pass through Pacific Grove/Monterey. Absolutely amazing customer service, beautiful and cozy atmosphere. 10/10 would recomm
Staff was friendly. Room had plenty of space and was remarkably quiet. Enjoyed the gas fireplace. Best part was walking to the beach. Pacific Growth is a cute town and close to everything you would want to see or do in the area. We would stay again.
