My girlfriend and I stayed here last weekend for a weekend away. We were overjoyed with our experience at Armistead Cottage. Charles provided us a warm welcome and gave us great recommendations for the area. Our room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast Charles made for us was better than anything we could’ve gotten downtown, plus some great stories and laughs while we enjoyed it. And I can’t avoid mentioning the carrot room. The carrot room holds the most impressive collection of anything I have ever seen in my life. It made the experience one of a kind. Thank you Charles for the accommodations and laughs!

The most wonderful experience staying here with Charles and Tanya. My husband and I have never felt more at home than we did here. The rooms are clean, the location is perfectly walkable to the Cliff walk and to the main part of town, and the breakfasts were delicious. Most of all, you feel the love in the house the moment you walk in. We would come back in a heartbeat, and loved every minute of our stay here! Thank you to the hosts!!

We really hit a home run finding this place. Charles will not steer you wrong. All his recommendations were spot on. He’s also a really good host. Loved hearing his stories of previous careers and a life well lived. His & Tonya’s breakfasts are very good. They were able to work with my gluten allergy too. The house is wonderful. You see the porch and it’s a star. Wonderful place to start the day or wind down after exciting day. Every time I went into the carrot room it made me smile. Each time I found something new and interesting. If I’m being picky, the bed we had was a bit creaky but comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was less than ideal. Neither of these were enough to make this worth a worry. We’d definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone. The cool thing is there are only three rooms so not a ton of people coming and going. It makes for small conversations during breakfast.

I just returned from spending three glorious nights at the Armistead Cottage. I highly recommend it. The bed was comfortable and the Carrot Room is something that must be seen to believe. The Innkeeper, Charles, was so welcoming and gracious. We spent three glorious nights there and from the peaceful front porch to the delicious breakfast each day, everything was just perfect. It is located in a quiet residential area about a 6 or 7 minute drive to Thames Street and the Mansions.

Charles met us as we pulled into the drive and immediately made us feel welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed having a cup of tea on the front porch before breakfast and then Charles’ great breakfasts. His depth of knowledge about things to do and places to eat in Newport really made our visit one of our best vacations. The cottage is well maintained and kept spotless. We especially liked the convenient location and being able to walk to downtown. After a full day of activity, the front porch was a great place to relax in the evening with lots of birds singing and almost no traffic on the street. We probably won’t get back to Newport until next year but are looking forward to another visit.

Ramona and Charles were such gracious hosts. We were greeted with a map of Newport, ideas of fun things to do in town, and a tour of the house. We got to see the carrot museum and all of the amazing stained glass artwork throughout the home as well. The porch is a great place to sit, relax, and listen to the birds. Breakfast was absolutely incredible. Food was very very good. Charles also allowed us to park at the property after check out so we can do the cliff walks nearby. I highly recommend armistead cottage to others!

We had the pleasure of staying at this lovely B&B for 2 nights last week. We were warmly greeted by Charles, the innkeeper, who immediately made us feel very welcomed and showed us around. There is a delightful front porch with several comfortable places to sit and read, enjoy a cup of tea or just listen to the birds. |Inside there was a lovely living room, gorgeous dining room and a little kitchenette where there was a refrigerator stocked with various sodas and bottles of water. And quite a unique collection of carrot everything!!|Up a flight of stairs to the three guest rooms where we found our lovely 4 poster king bed, good size bathroom and lots of closet space with extra pillows and blankets (if needed).|A delicious breakfast was made and served by Charles and Tanya (his helper). Charles asked about food allergies before we arrived and everything was perfect! One morning he made grilled peaches with just a hint of nutmeg and cinnamon, followed by 2 kinds of brioche and then one morning scrambled eggs with toast and artfully arranged strawberries and blueberries as well as coffee, tea and juice! The following morning he served grilled bananas, I had blueberry yogurt and a frittata. |The B&B also has plenty of parking included in the room rate.|Not a far walk from the famous cliff walk and an easy drive into the center of town and the beaches. |Charles could not have been more gracious, kind and helpful.|A delightful stay in a beautiful home!

I stayed here at the Armistead cottage in November 2021. It was by complete chance that we found our way to the Armistead, because my boyfriend and I had initially reserved a stay elsewhere in Newport. However, the same day we were meant to check in to the other location we received notice that our reservation was canceled. Nonetheless, thank god it was because staying at the Armistead cottage was one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had. I’m still in awe of the uniqueness of the house. But what really stuck out, and what I still find myself reflecting on, is just how pleasant and amazing our host Charles was. We felt so so welcomed, and were touched by the sheer kindness Charles and his assistant had. Everything was simply astounding. All of the meals, amenities, and most of all, the people. This experience will stay with me, and I hope to visit again sometime soon. If you’re thinking about visiting Newport, the Armistead is the perfect place to stay!
