Aqua Hotel - Resort hotel in Fort Lauderdale - 531 Breakers Ave, USA

Great location, just a block from the beach! Friendliest hotel staff I've ever met! Room was clean. We checked in early after getting back from a cruise and checked out late the following day. Kids loved the pools, super convenient. Location was great for food, small market and bakery a block away. We loved it and are planning our next trip back!

We really enjoyed our stay at Aqua. Maggie was simply incredible. Seriously, I have never encountered a more welcoming and helpful hotel manager…she is the best. Our room was clean and comfortable. The decor at the hotel is so nice. There is an outdoor courtyard area that is so pretty and relaxing. My daughter said it is like “an adorable zen garden”. There are 3 pools…the one by our room was heated and very nice. There is a hot tub and a jacuzzi tub as well. If we are in Fort Lauderdale again we would absolutely stay here.

Aqua Hotel for very nice and affordable. Room was clean and comfortable. There a two very clean pools. One is salt water. One is fresh water. The walk to the beach is right around 5 minutes. Restaurants and shops 10 mins. You cannot go wrong at the Aqua Hotel.

We have been coming here for years and we still like this place and it’s special charm, thanks to Maggie above all! It is so much nicer than the faceless big hotels at the front row. And a great concept of the North Beach Village with several other cool hotels and cafe and restaurant and bar in the area. Great love to detail, only the gyms next door could enjoy som attention. The area is a must for mid century modern fans!

I am a return customer. This is my 4th time at Aqua Hotel. They had an issue with no hot water so we were moved to a 1 bedroom suite on the other side of the property across from the courtyard that had hot water, which was an upgrade from our original room. The grounds are clean and pretty with the lights and outside seating. If you need anything you get it fast. It’s close to the beach and restaurants. However, when we got home to review our receipts we notice we did not receive much of a discount for our inconveniences. The onsite laundry one of the amenities was disastrous the wash did not wring out our wet clothes they were soaked we followed the instructions on how to use the machine we ended up paying twice to wash and dry which took way over 4 hours. We could have used that time at the beach. There were minor aesthetic issues with our room nothing major but you are paying your money and you suppose to get what you pay for so our expectations are the room should be on par or better than where we live. Despite it all we had a great time you can’t be mad being in beautiful weather.

For a quick weekend getaway it was okay. The room was constantly damp and smelled like wet beach towel. There were small nats/bugs flying around too. The damp environment made my allergies flare up the whole vacation. Bed was uncomfortable and pillows awful. The towels they provided were so worn out/old and thin. The room was big and offered a small kitchenette too keep drinks cold. Bathroom was just okay. Walk in closet helped with storage. All my clothes smelled like beach. One major issue I had was security. Anyone is free to come off the streets and walk around property/ use amenities or be up in rooms. Not as safe as the luxury high-rises I normally stay in. At night, there were no staff members around and you feel like you're on your own. No staff to help with check out. You kind of just leave and text them. More AIRBNB feel. Location was convenient. Probably wouldn't stay again.

Pros - Location is very close to the beach, safe area, cute /romantic grounds with nice places to eat nearby, good for a one-or two-night stay, pleasant and helpful staff Cons - Room requires serious update/freshening up. The bathroom was uncomfortably tiny, showed years of wear and tear and a small space with a curtain in front could use a better more modern design.

Let's start with the good - the people working there are some of the nicest people you'll ever run into. ||Now with the challenges - |1) When we arrived at our room it smelled like mildew. We were told it was normal since it was recently raining hence why there was a dehumidifier in the closet within the room. The interesting thing is we had to plug it in. We thought after it stopped raining the smell would go away. We had to run it 5 days (24 hours / day) to tolerate the smell. We shared our concerns on day 2 and again was told it was normal. |2) The shower was tiled incorrectly. There was no slope so ultimately we constantly stood in 2 inches of water while showering. Again they offered to send Engineering into fix it but short of them retiling the whole thing there's no way to fix. If I'm a betting man, the people who get this room (1205) in the future - this will be a standing issue.|3) The TV was slightly bigger than a computer monitor. Not a huge deal but it didn't fit the room.|4) The towels were basically hand-towels. Not even close enough to a true bath towel or even the ones provided for the pool - again hand-towels.|5) Wifi inconsistent where you couldn't watch a movie at night without it constantly pausing. ||Ultimately this place along with the others they own on the same street are motels where they slapped a little paint on the walls and did some rough improvements so they could charge more. ||For those thinking I'm a bit critical - maybe I am but for the pricing I expected it to be a bit better. The owners need to invest in this property. Just across the street are the Conrad & Four Seasons. I know - not the same category but remarkably different and oh by the way, their hotels did not smell like mildew as we walked through them. ||Fort Lauderdale is a pretty cool place to go to and we'll be back but we will either spring for the extra money and stay at one of the nicer hotels or we'll shorten our trip by a day to stay in one of the nicer places.
