Aqua Breeze Inn - Motel in Santa Cruz - 204 Second St, USA

Very basic and affordable motel across the parking lot of the boardwalk. We were on the 3rd floor and parked in the back, which only meant one flight of stairs up. Staff was very friendly and our double queen room was comfortable. A mini fridge and microwave are always a plus.

Being across the street from the Boardwalk, beach, and a short walk to the wharf was a plus. Also, it was the least expensive option we were able to find that would accommodate our family of 5 on short notice (booked about 3 weeks prior). Staff was polite and helpful. The accommodations though were not so good. You can feel the wire springs on the beds. Overall conditions of the walls, floors, windows, ceiling, bathroom showed a lot of poorly installation & repaired damage. Electrical, plumbing, appliances worked fine and we all slept well, but the place really needs a detailed remodel.

Great place to stay! Walking distance to the boardwalk, beach and wharf. Rooms were clean, had a fridge and microwave. No elevator so taking ice chest to 3rd floor was not easy. Toilet ran randomly throughout the night and bathroom could use some updating, but all in all I would definitely recommend!

We love the aqua breeze! We are a large family and have been coming to this hotel since my kids were little. We do a boardwalk trip every year and this hotel is the most convenient for us. I feel safe letting my young teen kids walk back and forth from the boardwalk on their own. The rooms are clean and have everything we need. The hotel is full of families and patrons of the boardwalk. It’s pretty quiet …just excited kids running around but that’s pretty much expected as everyone staying there have kids excited to be on vacation. The prices aren’t cheap which is fine because you are paying mostly for the location. And we all know what kind of people stay at those cheap motels… not something I want around my kids anyway. We love the aqua breeze!!!!!

Loved staying this little place! The location couldn't get better; It's directly across from the boardwalk, so we were able to walk over and didn't have to pay parking. Very affordable compared to other places in the area. Great service; very warm and welcoming. You can tell they are family-oriented. The rooms are cozy, and the water is HOT. It was a great experience overall, especially having just stayed at a popular hotel 2 nights prior where the service was terrible. Just goes to show that big names aren't everything! I recommend staying here the next time you visit Santa Cruz; we definitely will!

Pros: Clean room, in-room fridge and microwave, we slept comfortably. LOCATION, so easy to walk to boardwalk. Free parking. Cons: No elevators and there are 3 levels. Room nextdoor had noisy people (we just turned the TV up). We didn't report to staff, it was really late and we didn't want to cause trouble. Staff we interacted with were friendly. It's a basic motel, but for the price.... can't beat location. Parking lot is very small, but we were told there was additional parking behind the building....we stayed parked up on check in, so wasn't an issue. Beds were fine, there was an area to hang our clothes, bathroom was clean, TV offered a lot of channels. We had two adults, two teen girls, and we booked for one night. It was great to check in, park there for free, then walk over to boardwalk right across the street.... parking at the boardwalk would be $20. The motel asks for a $100 security deposit upon check in...you can choose to pay cash, and have it instantly refunded upon check out. I'd feel comfortable staying here again.

Very nice spot to stay over and exp the beach boardwalk because it's only a few mins walk towards the beach. The rooms were somewhat comfy cause they needed an update on the spring mattress, but the service was great. If you order delivery, it shouldn't be hard for the driver to look for your room number. A/C works great as well as the heater. The showers were clean and remodeled.

My younger daughter has stayed here twice and didn't mind it. I didn't want to pay for an expensive place for one night and decided to try it out. I initially paid for early check in but didn't like the room in the dark across from a noisy washer. I was able to change my room and left my car while I waited. The motel is in short walking distance to the boardwalk which I really liked. No it is not fancy and very basic. There is coffee etc. that you pick up in the lobby. Our heat worked. The refrigerator also worked. We didn't use the microwave but it was nice that it was included. The one thing I really disliked were the towels which were small and felt like drying with sandpaper. I have stayed in Santa Cruz many times and it is expensive. This was a reasonable place with the basics and parking close to the boardwalk. I would stay here again.
