I was looking for a different place other than the Tony Ds and Pauls Pasta. I can't even review this yet because I don't have the time to say how perfect this place and meals were, we had been to the area many times and we've never discovered this place! The price for the portions are incredible. My husband and I split the things we got and the filet could easily feed 2 people. It was PERFECTION. The pasta, salad and garlic bread are divine. Go here.
Anthony J’s Bistro could be the best kept secret in Mystic. Whoops, I probably shouldn’t have said that. It’s not a very big restaurant but it has great charm. Its atmosphere is quiet and intimate with great food and a great staff. Our waiter was Joe and he attended to our every need, from taking pictures (of wine bottle labels no less) to supporting our pace of dining, which was leisurely. We started with the world famous garlic bread which was devoured instantly. We ordered one garden salad which we split three ways and we were completely satisfied. The men had the crispy duck over a bed of risotto (we passed on the baby spinach, but I’m sure it would have been excellent for those spinach eaters). It also comes with raspberry sauce which we asked to be on the side to ensure maximum crispy for the duck. The duck was perfectly cooked and did not disappoint. The other entree was the chicken puttanesca which included a southern Italian sauce that is a briny collaboration of anchovies, olives, and capers within a chunky tomato base. A perfect blend of flavors with no fishy taste at all. I recommend Anthony J’s if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the downtown Mystic restaurants for a more secluded setting with great food and great service.
Only giving two stars because the service was good. This was the worst dining experience I’ve had in a very long time. I’m always hesitant to go anywhere that overcharges for a bowl of pasta but I heard good things about this place so we went. My carbonara came out and the sauce was broken as you can see in the photo. This is supposed to be a creamy Alfredo sauce. Upon seeing it and hearing my complaint, the server didn’t hesitate to take it away and sent it back to the kitchen. The dish came back out five minutes later. I appreciated the effort to get it back out quickly, but I could tell the butter was drained and the dish was quickly tossed in just heavy cream. There was no flavor whatsoever. Only the taste of heavy cream. I didn’t complain again because who complains twice? I paid my overpriced bill and left extremely disappointed. Will not be returning again. The worst part of overpaying for bad food is the missed opportunity to have had a much better meal elsewhere. The garlic bread was ok.
Great vibes here, and even better food. Outdoor patio is a chill spot. Heaters outside for the cool nights. Service was great, quick, and friendly, but only two parties when we ate here.
Went here for dinner with my bachelorette party. The food was very good! The drinks were good and well made. The staff was friendly and checked on us often. The atmosphere is very nice and comfortable.
This place is really romantic, cozy and a great place to dine. I was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance because it looked much nicer in person than the photos depicted. We sat outside on the side patio as recommended by another reviewer, and it was perfect. I ordered Lava Rock Teriyaki Steak which was so amazingly good. It comes out raw on a 650° rock and you cook it to your liking. It cooks really fast, you just flip it once or twice. It gives off a little bit of smoke for the first minute but then it mostly goes away. Because of the smoke (I assume), it is noted as being *only available at the outdoor seating* .. so that’s another reason to take the patio. Service was really fast and on point. It’s also centrally located downtown so you can easily roam the area afterwords and get to know Mystic better. Everything was just great all around. I would love to go back again.
My family has been going to Anthony J's Bistro for 30 years. Quant little restaurant. On this visit a friend and I arrived at an off hour. Between lunch and dinner. The bartender was also our server. She was pleasant and engaging. Food was good but not what I was used to at this establishment. I blame it on Covid. Will be back in the spring and will update this review.
Love this little place, it's so cozy and unique inside and the food is always delicious! Great service from our waitress as well, all in all a really great experience.
We had shrimp fried rice and cauliflower tikla marsala. Really good. The chef cooks to order so the food is fresh, the carrots still with a little crunch, the vegetables all still tasty, the rice cooked perfectly, nothing soggy from being reheated.
We had an AMAZING experience! I booked online and had some questions so called ahead. The staff were very helpful and didnât seem bothered by my calling. When we did the run through and even throughout the course all of the staff were helpful to my
Our 1st stay was in the Valiant Room-so cute, dockside & paired to look like the inside of a ship- we loved it. Last week, We stayed in the Kathleen Suite & it was spacious with all the extras . It was 1st floor , which we prefer with a comply bed( b
Breakfast here was an absolute treat. I opted for the crab and asparagus eggs benedict, which were fantastic, however the real star of the show were the pancakes. They were some of the most delicious and fluffy pancakes I've ever had. Make sure to tr
