Dan, and his crew of employees at KOA Hogback, were possibly the friendliest, and most helpful campground crew that I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. From the moment we showed up we were greeted with smiles, and were offered helpful hands with the vehicle issues that we were having. The team even assisted getting our camper put onto our site, while our vehicle was out of commission. The KOA company must have good hearts, as multiple times during our stay, there were (no pressure) fundraisers, for terminally ill children. These included 50/50 raffles, and pancake breakfasts. It definitely warms the heart. During the entire duration of our stay, the family was never lacking things to do. From swimming, to arts and crafts, and even live music, the campground is definitely a step above the rest. It was a pleasure camping at the KOA Hogback, and I already have my next trip there scheduled.
Where to Start. The kampground is gorgeous! Yes lots of seasonal, but also nightly sites and cabins. We stayed in a cabin. Immediately reminded me of our home in Alaska. Our cabin had a full size freezer and fridge, stove top, and 2 basin sink along with dishes, towel and rag and dish soap. The small sofa was pretty comfortable too. Our patio area had a fire pit, patio table and chairs along with what appeared to be a propane grill (no propane bottles out, obviously for safety of kampers, staff, and the premises. I am positive if i wanted to grill, the staff would have the propane available). The beds were nice too. I truly enjoyed the floor radiator heaters AND a ceiling fan, there was a "window unit" AC as well. Had plenty of room to set up the pack n play for my infant. Granted, it blocked off the far side of the bed, but it didn't bother me. If anything, I felt it was specifically designed for that purpose. TVs had remotes and they worked. Everything was in proper working order and had absolutely zero issues. The squeaky doors...is good if you're sleeping with a toddler who tries to be sneaky, built in toddler snitch system if you will. Was the squeaky door a deal breaker...absolutely not! In fact, I'd book that cabin again! ||Whomever in housekeeping that cleaned, prepared, and flipped it to get the cabin ready for us...you did an outstanding job! The towels were clean and fresh. And I thoroughly enjoy their trying to do their part for the environment. I will reuse a towel, as you're literally drying yourself off after a shower or bath. And if the front desk was closed, I could always wash/dry them myself. Maybe I'm just a little self sufficient with a few brain cells that give off a spark. ||The staff, especially the front desk lead. She's amazing! Super friendly, positive, and eager to help. She made sure everything was ready to go and ensured that we knew contact information should we need it after hours. Had no reason to talk to the GM this time, but I did see him making his rounds through the kampground this morning well before 0900. That requires a great work ethic, dedication to the premises/kampers/and staff. Leading by example, being visible to everyone. ||I didn't need maintenance for anything, as everything was already in prime working order; however, I'm sure if I needed them, they would have been on it! ||I know the amount of hard work and long hours that goes into running a campground, handling employees, campers, ensuring activities, and much more. It's exhausting and I wish more people would act more human towards the HUMANS running this kampground. They have to prioritize things and sometimes, waiting 5 minutes for the pool to open is not the highest priority for say a water main leak (think, my friends!). As a medic, if I had multiple patients...I did quick triage first....if you were breathing sufficiently on your own and not bleeding out and not trying to be a smurf, I labeled you least priority and would come back around. It's nothing personal, but it helps things move fast. ||I want to thank the staff for their hard work. I may just have to look into a seasonal site and bring my own rig!!!!|
Booked here last minute trying to flee a nearby campground. They were very accommodating, and offered everything we were escaping. Safety, cleanliness, and a friendly environment. Lazy river was fun (bring a tube), and an amazing inflatable floating obstacle course! Very hospitable hosts! Would definitely recommend if traveling through the area!
Nice campground. Clean, safe - part of the grounds is gated (one section isn't) lots of workers who will address concerns & needs. Plenty to do where you don't have to leave the campground - lazy river is nice, lake with beach and inflatables, you can rent pantoon boat for the day. The camp sites are large and the cabins were nice. My only complaint would be the number of seasonal sites. Sometimes when there are so many seasonal sites it starts to feel more like a mobile home park vs. a campground.
This is our first time visiting this KOA. They do have some really great amenities, but for being a holiday I did expect a little more. They do have golf cart rentals which is nice, however the price is not. The pool was gross, although .. they did say it was the last weekend it was open so maybe they slacked off on it knowing it would be closing. I didn’t allow my kids to swim. Some employees we interacted with were as kind or kinder than you could hope for and some were just not. I was in the RV parking at the front entrance.. neighbors weren’t great, parking spaces were basic just like an RV park, there wasn’t a shower room/ restroom close by which was a bummer. They offer wifi but it’s hot or miss. Which suprised me. There wasn’t anything that really stood out about our stay. My kids were hurt by other kids on the playground .. like a 100 pound 15 year old boy kicked my 60 pound 10 year old and really hurt her. The play grounds are nice. The jump thing is nice. However it mostly felt like an overpriced RV park. It is towards the end of the season and maybe that’s why we didn’t have a great time. It’s not a place that any of us are saying omg we can’t wait to go back.. but we will probably give it another try next summer when the kids would be able to enjoy the pool and lake. I would not stay in the rv park part again personally, however that’s because we just don’t like the vibe. People are grumpy around here. After reading several reviews it actually seems that the pool has been pretty rough for a while, and the staff is typically rude aside from an older man .. which is probably the same man that was very kind to me. Any responses have all been very half hearted if any, and that’s all I’ll expect. Now that I know this experience is actually typical, we will likely not return. There are many great KOAs not too far away as well as other campground options with similar amenities for less. There is absolutely potential here, and it’s very sad that it’s not being capitalized on. Do something to motivate your staff.. ultimately if they were treated great the park would probably be in better shape, and they wouldn’t come off as hating their jobs.
I recently had the pleasure of spending some quality time with my family at KOA Hogback Lake in Indiana, and I must say, it was an absolute delight! As a seasonal camper, I was thrilled to discover the numerous perks and attractions this campground has to offer. First and foremost, KOA Hogback Lake is currently undergoing renovations, which is fantastic news for all campers. The management is dedicated to improving the facilities and enhancing the overall camping experience. It's wonderful to see them investing in making this place even better! Speaking of experiences, this has been my first year at KOA Hogback Lake, and I can confidently say that it has exceeded all my expectations. With three energetic kids in tow, I wanted to ensure there were plenty of activities to keep them entertained, and this place didn't disappoint. One major advantage of this campground is that you have the option to bring your own golf cart and boat, albeit with a small fee. This flexibility allows families like mine to explore the beautiful surroundings at our own pace, making every day an adventure. The affordability of this option is also a huge plus, especially for families on a budget. One of the standout features of KOA Hogback Lake is its pristine and well-maintained facilities. Unlike many other KOA campsites, this one is paved, providing a smooth and convenient camping experience. The beautiful pool, which is drained and cleaned daily, offers a refreshing oasis on hot summer days. It's truly a joy to relax and cool off in such a clean and inviting pool. Saturday is undoubtedly the highlight of the week here at KOA Hogback Lake, as it is designated as the activity day. The campground organizes a wide range of engaging and fun-filled activities for campers of all ages. From arts and crafts to sports competitions, there's something for everyone to enjoy. It's a fantastic opportunity to meet other families and create lasting memories together. Let's not forget about the lake itself! KOA Hogback Lake boasts an exciting obstacle course that adds an extra element of adventure to your stay. Whether you're up for some friendly competition or simply want to challenge yourself, the obstacle course provides endless hours of entertainment for kids and adults alike. In conclusion, KOA Hogback Lake in Indiana is an absolute gem for families seeking an affordable, enjoyable, and memorable camping experience. With ongoing renovations, a paved campground, a pristine pool, engaging activities, and a thrilling obstacle course, this place truly has it all. I highly recommend it and look forward to returning for many more years of family bonding and adventure!
Staff is very helpful and professional. Had a great time on one of the rental pontoon. Reasonably priced especially for the 24 hrrental time. They also sell bait which saved a drive into town. The inflatable play area on the water looks amazing plenty of room for lots of children. Be aware though very limited 4g service and wifi does not work well.
Absolutely hands down the best campsite we ever had! When we arrived there was a booking issue and the staff was beyond helpful and even drove us through the resort to make sure the site they wanted to set us up with would adequately accommodate our size unit. Beautiful establishment and well mantained! The campsites overlook a story book pond with adorable cabins. The pool side rental units are soooo cute they look like little country style beach houses! People who want to enjoy a resort style camping experience would love them! The RV sites are spacious and wooded so even in the heat of the afternoon we were provided well needed shade. The pool was sparkling and the additional lake and beach were very clean. They had Christmas in July when we arrived and the Grinch greeted the kids with glow sticks and the movie playing on a big screen in the beautiful new barn. The kids loved the multiple playgrounds with one being built and we can't wait to come back for the future Zipline! The park inside the pool was a huge hit and we loved how many options for new and experienced swimmers there were in a compact space. Splash pad, lazy river, zero depth entry, they had it all. One of the staff RON was very sweet, he came to clean up the site and stopped to wish us luck on our adventures and even offered some very helpful travel tips. Our family will definitely be returning and bringing more family and friends to enjoy the campsite. Thanks Angola we loved it!

Iâve been going to this church for many years now. It is my favorite church to learn and grow in the faith. I appreciate all who make it such a great experience. God is leading this church to proclaim the good news for all!
We originally purchased a bike for our daughter at the local bike shop near our home in Ohio. It was way too big for her, so, we drove 1.5 hours to Angola, IN to get the bike she wanted in her size. Libby was very helpful on the phone, making sure
The best Game Store in Indiana. So happy the started doing Warhammer! The store owner cares a lot about the community which is super refreshing to see.
The staff from check-in to custodial were very friendly, professional & efficient as they all "went the extra mile" to make the stay very comfortable. The room and facilities were nicely laid-out and the cleanliness of the environment was readily not
We took our grandkids to see a movie. The place is clean and the seats are comfortable. The line was fairly long when we went to get tickets and our popcorn and drinks. Their prices are good compared to the bigger theaters.
Great links at a great price! I enjoy playing here individually and in scrambles. They also have a very nice Pro-Shop; they replaced the grip on my driver the same day!
Our favorite library for all ages. Nice new area for children. With activities set up for them to do. They also have different age children's program's and comfort dogs that come in and visit
You need to know to pull around and hold onto your order number after you pay, which is different, but not necessarily bad. They fry burgers in butter, so naturally it fits right into the Midwest, and they're pretty damn good.
It's seriously just a room but has awesome sound and lighting. Honestly, it's one of the best local venues to see a show. Security is kind of stringent. Don't think I can keep a gun or knife under my hat, but apparently, in their realm, you can. Mayb
