Anchor Motel - Featured Reviews (199)
I’m not really sure how best to review this hotel. We came on Fourth of July weekend so the price was very high and the quality just wasn’t that great. Yes, they have a very small pool, parking, fridge/microwave, and ac in the rooms but the rooms just weren’t great. Our room was super small which was fine since we didn’t need much space and didn’t spend much time there. The quality of the beds was truly horrible though. It was extremely hard and every time I moved it squeaked making it impossible for both of us to sleep both nights. The towels were really thin and cheap quality. The hotel is also located by the fire station so we were woken up by sirens as well (not the hotels fault of course but something to be aware of). I mean overall, they had what we needed it just wasn’t the best quality for the holiday price. Maybe it’s more worth it on a normal night.
Location was ideal- 1 block from the boardwalk and beach! Motel is owned by a very sweet family who gave me great recommendations and wonderful hospitality. The room was very simple but super cozy, clean, the A/C worked great and the water pressure in the shower was wonderful. Can’t wait to come back and I’ve already recommended the place to several friends! Thanks again for a great stay!
I have stayed in many hotels and motels. Depending on the stay I might stay in whatever fits from a 2 star to 4 star resort- not too many 5 stars. I have stayed at Travelodge many times, but also spent a week in a penthouse in Vegas. My point is I don't have high expectations, but expect what I pay for, what is advertised, and to be treated with respect. This place is a run down motel you would find in a slum. The door led right to the street. Best of all, the parking is non-existent. We parked in a spot and parked a little on the the very small sidewalk, the women that works here BERATED- I am not exaggerating she was absolutely disrespectful to both of us - we walked in to ask for ice and they said to go buy it at 7-11 and yelled at us for "parking my car over into one of her spots" It was the side walk- how can you own the sidewalk? She made us move the car a block away to what seemed to be an abandoned house's driveway. Later that night, someone was parked on the sidewalk- so she told them that was a spot. No Ice, no parking and the room is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad. The blanket was 50 years old and as thin as a paper towel. All night someone walked up and back and up and back and it was VERY loud so I got like 2 hours sleep for my 13 hour drive back to Chicago- the point of a hotel is to sleep and we even went back at 9 PM to get extra sleep. I never write reviews but after my 13 hour drive I mustered the energy to write this to save others the pain of staying here. The whole experience felt like a bait-and-switch; the photos online are staged- one is literally photoshopped to show a part of the MOTEL that does not exist., because what we walked into was nothing short of a horror show. Plus when I went to leave no one was in the office and I had a 13 hour drive. There are no swipes, just an old key that you have to return- my neighbor left hers in the door all night and there were a group of guys that appeared to be gang members hanging out all night. I was told to leave my key in an opened mailbox- wow that is not safe. I wouldn’t wish this place on my worst enemy."
Terrible room experience would not recommend. Toilet wouldn't fit a midget. Pool was cloudy and cold. Smelled like cheese on top floor or something moldy. White stains on bed sheets disgusting my father had to sleep on floor. My mother wad having neck spasms. And the beds were like laying on a Fred Flintstones bed. Don't give these people your money.
Thank you very much for staying with us. We appreciate your business. Without guest like yours we would not survive. If you have time please write few words on Google review. I am attaching the link below. If Michelle can write one also would be great. Thanks and see you soon. JD and Family
Positive: the staff was super accommodating. The location is close to beach and walkable to the entire town. Based on a 2 star hotel, this motel fits the profile of clean and friendly staff. Negative: ""
Checked in at 8 and left at 9. All we needed was a place to sleep before checking into another seaside property. FYA Beds are super firm and when we asked where the ice machine was we were redirected to 711. When we tried to reserve a room from our PC software was updated in our browser from there booking site telling us that we had a virus. The source company is sorg.co.in. There were articles on line that directed on how to remove. If you are going to book use your phone as they are more secure. The only things positive that I can add is that the room/bathroom were clean and it is close to the boardwalk. I would not personally stay here for longer than we did.
Outstanding experience! Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, clean room, comfortable beds, great location; no complaints whatsoever. Thanks for a great weekend!
Wonderful motel! Clean rooms, great service, great pool, beach badges provided (motel is one block to the beach). My husband and me stayed for a few days with our 3 and 4 year old boys. We had a wonderful time. George was so nice and helped us bring
The cleaning smell in the hallway is strong, but not as strong in the rooms. AC is loud, but effective! Rooms were great, loved having a mini fridge available. Can't beat the location!! We'll definitely be back.
Went on a nice trip with my buddy Justin and my other friend Andrea we had a great time visiting the boardwalk and some old shops we haven't been in in over 6 years i was disappointed that most of the stores were closed bc it was before memorial day
This amazing place on the Jersey Shore is definitely the best place to be in the spring and summer months. They have everything, games, rides, attractions, restaurants, fishing, crabbing, water park, gorgeous views, fireworks, live music, festivals,
First time at Golden Gate and it will not be my last. So much flavor packed into their dishes- clearly these were made with love. Fast. Affordable. Friendly. If you are in the Mike for Chinese, go no further than Golden Gate Express. ððð
