Very nice room (Captain's Quarters). Great view of the river and a nice quiet atmosphere. The room could have a little cleaner and it could use a new shower curtain. Overall highly recommended.
I love this place! I recently lost everything in my life. I have been homeless now for a while and it's nice to stay somewhere nice from time to time. Rooms are so clean, front desk is very nice. I have to thank god for putting a roof over my head sometimes. Thank you and thank God. I also like the names of the rooms. I stay sometimes at Houghton lake and they have it set up nice like your at Houghton lake.
Basic, no thrills hotel that does the trick. Dog friendly, which is nice. Easy to get to with plenty of parking.
When I write hotel reviews, I do it through the lens of a traveler and as someone with a decade in hospitality management under her belt. I worked my way up from front desk to sales and marketing director and general manager, and served as state board member representing hotels in a major hotel brand) and managed both independent and franchised hotels. The Anchor Inn is a phenomenal hotel. In Michigan and out west you find family owned gems and this is one of them. We were warmly greeted by Corey. The check in process was seamless, he was a delight to speak with, and brought us additional items when requested. He answered all our questions regarding the property and area, and did so with a genuine smile you could see on his face and hear in his voice.. The rooms are clean and maintained. The beds amd pillows are very comfortable, if I had to guess, medium firm with toppers. I slept very well. The room was immaculately clean, though dated, and the furnishings were appropriate to the size of the room and furnishings, we well as the hotels theme, without being kitchy. I LOVE the the doors are numbered and also named after Michigan waterways. Such a memorable touch! The television had satellite service, so there were more channels than anyone really needs, and the wifi was fast and steady. The bathroom has a walk in shower, the water pressure was adequate, and the hot water was hot! The location was perfect for my dad's and my sturgeon trip out of Algonac. The river is across the street, meaning the air was fresh and the views walking the property are relaxing. The property is clearly well maintained and I felt very safe and welcomed to stroll around. I prefer exterior corridors for fire safety, ease of loading/unloading, etc. We had a chair right outside the door and picnic tables. Each room had an enclosed ash tray outside it. At no point was I bothered by the smell of smoke or did I see a single piece of trash or cigarette butt anywhere. The common areas outside are well lit, the massive anchor and wood boat ties with the hotels theme and local history beautifully, and there were even rockicking chairsin front of the lobby! Everything about the hotel is warm and welcoming! I will absolutely return to this hotel and suggest anyone coming to this area to stay at The Anchor Inn. It was a big part of making my dad's and my fishing trip special.
A wonderful place to stay. and the staff was very helpful.and it was a great two weeks there . Thank you for everything you did for me. The room was very clean.
It's very clean employees are kind and helpful. The location is great close to restaurants and the water. Ideal for the family or just a night away. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
Good place to stay. Friendly staff and good location.
Very deceiving pictures. Rooms are not what they appear to be in the room. They still charged my card when we called and said we were not staying. Online says one pet room which we reserved and they even called on Friday to confirm and when we arrived room was wrong there were multiple dogs running with no Leach plus they wanted to charge for a fold up bed when there were supposed to be two beds. Extremely disappointed.
