Beautiful at sunset. Has bathrooms, plenty of free parking. There was music coming from lava lava club restaurant when it got dark. Two malls up the road to go shopping, and get eats and drinks. Definitely going back to make a whole day and night of it!
Beautiful and Busy
Easily accessible with public parking, restrooms, and shower, this is a great swimming and sunning beach. Nearby protected traditional fish ponds offer an opportunity to learn more about Hawaiian fish raising techniques still in use.
One of the best sand beaches in Big Island. The beach is gorgeous and it is family friendly as well. There is also a free parking lot not too far away.
Amazing beach with palm trees and shade. Very close to the parking lot, with bathrooms and showers. We saw a sea turtle bobbing around in the ocean. Some folks were snorky, but it was kind of murky the day we went. This beach is near lots of places to eat and shop, so we spent the better part of the day in the area. Definitely would go back!
Beach: 3/5
Snorkeling: N/A
Amenities: Rental Shop, Beach Chairs
Specials: Cultural Significance, Turtles, Sunsets
The sand on the Waikoloa side is rough, but there are trees and beach chairs. The sand on the A'Bay side is nicer, but with very little shade. The surf is generally low, ironically except for the day we considered snorkeling. You can't really play in the waves, and there are much better beachs nearby for that (Hapuna, Mauna Kea)
There is not a public bathroom, but there is a rental shop easily available.
The best thing here are the cultural artifacts. On a 15m walk you have the fish ponds, some heiroglyphs and a preserved house. I found this to be much better than Lapakahi State Historical Park, and in about half the time.
There are supposed to be turtles, but we missed them. I read that the best spot is just south of the Bay in the afternoon. The sunset was very nice, but we came in January and the sun was a little too far south for a good picture.
There is no entrance fee and parking with a short (<5 m) walk. There are about 40 parking spots from this entrance (Kolea Kai Circle, across from the little water fall). We never saw more than a handful of cars.

We spent a day at this beach during our week in Kona and were so glad we did. Loved everything about it: soft sand, waves that are just right for swimming, quiet family-type crowd, easy parking, nice facilities. We didn't try snorkeling, because we were too busy seeing sea turtles all over. They were swimming around us and sometimes lying up on the sand. You can walk down the beach in either direction for interesting sights: fish ponds to the north and lava rock coves south. Walk to adjacent Waikoloa Beach (north) for a beach shack with sales and rentals of beach gear, and tours.
Highly recommend Anaeho'omalu Beach! And it doesn't hurt that Lava Lava Beach Club is next door for drinks/dinner after the beach. Cheers~
nice beach with decent snorkeling. I don't know if it is because I went during low tie or something but the water seem less clear then when I was at the 49 black sand beach just north of here the previous afternoon. There's also less concentration of fish. However I did came across a sea turtle feeding in the water so that was great.
This is a great beach for toddlers! Plenty of parking, bathrooms are clean and convenient. Good shade provided by beautiful palm trees, sea turtles and swimming is fun for all ages. You can walk to the tide pools to observe fishes. It’s a great option for a beach day!

Hereâs what you need to know: this is what small family business is all about. Wow! Amazing Filipino flavors out of a small stall in a humble food court in Kona, BIG Island, HI. This is a true hole-in-the wall great find. So fresh and perfectly sea
First I'll say, it's worth coming here. So come here!
Second, I dont like giving 5 stars unless the food is so amazing, perfectly seasoned, with no complaints at all. But I have to say this place deserves it. I also have to say we have eaten out q

We have visited the Big Island and Hilton resort many times just to view the dolphins. This year our kids were the perfect age to jump in the water and get a 1:1 dolphin experience. Even though they were in a group with another family it didnât det

Amongst the high end jewelry shops and clothing boutiques you will find some nice eateries, a coffee shop, ice cream parlor and a candy store. There is even a randomly placed motorcycle dealership. And yes, there is a general store that sells liquors

A nice restaurant with good pub food. All the usual Hawaiian food. Indoor and outdoor tables. Easy parking. The crusty Mahi Mahi sandwich is excellent; just a light crust.
