Amazing stay with my family. My 3 kids enjoyed lot in big swimming pool and new Hot Tub. Breakfast was nice also with lots of choices. Price was very reasonable compared to other properties in Town. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely back to this motel when we visit my son at University of Iowa.

Clean, well run and maintained hotel with courteous staff. The lovely pool and hot tub were the perfect temperature. The hotel is off the interstate, but very quiet. Only suggestion would be to add fresh fruit for breakfast. Affordable price. Would stay again.

Horrible customer service. Had two jacuzzi rooms. One of the rooms the door didn't even latch, wouldn't lock. The other room the jacuzzi jets wouldn't work. Called the manager for a refund and they basically told me it wasn't their problem. This has happened to me and my family twice now. The hotel will even block your number when you try to get a refund. Crazy. An hour later they call me and offer to give me 25 dollars when our room plus extra 100$ they took out for "just in case" cost 850$. How unacceptable. Never going to an American Inn again. Would rather sleep in my car.

Great customer care and great hospitality. I always stay here when I come for work. Highly recommend to everyone if you are looking best customer service and clean room. They have best pool and Hot tub.

Room was very nice. Pool area isvery clean. Staff is very helpful too. We will always come here when we in Ames. Location! Location! Location! Close to freeway. I30 and I35. Feels like home.

High price for below average stay. Young lady working the desk was very polite and the pool/hot tub area was great for kids. Room and bathroom was not very clean, dirty and hairs on bed. Was over charged $25 more per night and the man I talked to refused to change. Instead, he told my other people pay $299-$399 per night at other hotels so the charge of $199 is very fair. I would avoid!

The owners and their families, including children, had taken over the entire lobby. There were no seats or spaces for guests to use in the lobby. The toilet clogged in our room, but the staff did not fix it. Instead, they handed me a plunger in a wet plastic bag and asked me to bring it back after I unclogged the toilet myself. The toilet clearly had issues and it clogged again. We got the same treatment from the staff the second time as well. Upon check-in, the staff made us believe they needed our booking.com reference and PIN. They used our information to cancel our booking and re-book us through their own system. This way, they didn't have to give a cut to booking.com, and made us lose the points we would have earned. We did not agree to this.||||Overall, it was an astonishingly bad experience when I think about it. The hotel did not take responsibility for their multiple plumbing issues, they did not provide acceptable accommodations in the lobby, and they defrauded us to lose the points we would have earned towards their own gain. I am usually forgiving of failures in operation, because people usually try hard. But this is a failure in values and the hotel's overall attitude towards its mission.

Our stay at AmericInn in Ames was terrible. Management should be fired. (1) Water in our room was not hot when we arrived nor the next morning at 7:30 AM, and we told the desk manager. “OK, she said, just wait and it will be hot”. At 8:00, we called again and was told the same thing, adding that she’d tell the motel’s manager. At 8:20 AM, we repeated our complaint that there was still no hot water and she repeated her assurance that the water would soon be hot. At 8:30, the same story, and we were told that she’d locate the manager and he’d fix things. Finally, the manager called 15 minutes later and he said he’d fix things, noting that checkout was at 10. We asked to be moved to another room, or to be able to use a shower in another room. “Oh no, we can’t do that”, the manager said. So, off to breakfast we went without a shower. (2) At exactly 9:00 AM on Sunday, with a line-up of motel guests in the breakfast area waiting to get coffee, juice, and a few of the meager scraps of breakfast provided, the desk manager announced that breakfast was over. Within 3 minutes, the coffee machine was shut off, the refrigerator door was locked, and all remaining food, etc. were removed. Back to our room, where there still was no hot water. (3) The deadbolt to our room was broken. The bathtub drain was clogged. In disgust, we walked out of AmericInn in Ames, vowing never to return to AmericInn.
