Americas Best Value Inn Story City - Hotel in Story City - 1520 Broad St, USA

We were just passing through and needed a place to sleep for the night. This place is pretty beat-up and in need of a major refresh, but at $55 a night, you can't complain too much. There is something wrong with the beds here. We stayed in a 2 queen room and both mattresses are either way past their useful life or someone tried to poorly refurbish them. When you lay on the beds here, you sink waaayyy down into them and it's extremely uncomfortable. They just don't feel like a mattress should and I'm really not that picky on mattresses. If there's one thing a motel should offer above all else, it's a comfy bed.

Looks like a decent place to stay. The Mexican restaurant is pretty good too.

Positive: Very clean room, quiet at night Negative: Went out to lobby on Sat. a.m. and quiet was interrupted by female owner yelling at male owner for 20 minutes straight. He then left with another male, came back a short time later and she yelled some more. Disrupted otherwise quiet b-fast area. Etc Negative: ""

Lighting needs to be improved, especially at the vanity. Shower water doesn't get hot enough. Sink doesn't seem to produce any hot water, even after leaving it run for a few minutes. Room was clean and comfortable which is the most important, good stay, I would definitely stay here again if in the area.

For how cold its been, the room was a nice, clean and WARM relief. No smell and decor was a nice touch. Beds were comfy and I slept very well. No price hikes due to Christmas holiday. For the price you can't beat this place. Will be stopping again on the route!

Absolutely disgusting. Smoke stained walls and smoke detectors covered with plastic.

New owner/manager in January 2018. Probably would have not stayed there if we would have judge it from the outside but new owner is in the process of completely updating this older motel. Large rooms, new beds, new large flat screen TV, microwave and mini-fridge for under $70 on a weekend was a great deal. Very clean. Also a great little Mexican restaurant attached to one end of the motel. Only gave it a 4 because updates are still in progress otherwise would have been a 5.
