Americas Best Value Inn Smithfield - Hotel in Smithfield - 197 Mallard Rd, USA

I have not stayed here recently but I do recall that I never gave this place the credit they were owed. I was living between days in hotels and my car years back through some hard times. This one was decently priced and the employees were always wonderful. It’s not the fanciest, but you get a decent stay for the price you pay. There was breakfast and the workers were so nice. Even down to the room cleaners. I’m doing better and have no reason to stay here again, but I always recommend Americas Best when people are traveling in town.

**Edit:** The wet spot on the mattress was NOT substantial and would've dried by the time housekeeping finished cleaning. We mopped and swept the floor to keep the room clean ourselves. I have worked in hospitality my entire life; I know how to manage and run motels and hotels; I have also done housekeeping alongside that. I have several years experience in both aspects. The man behind the desk also tried to instigate arguments with my autistic younger brother and disabled stepfather. He was very rude from the second day we got there. Also had to deal with neighbours smoking illegal substances and had to deal with neighbours banging on the walls the entire night until photos fell off the wall while we slept and hit us in the head. My four year old nephew was playing outside one day and the man came over and yelled that he needed to shut up because he was being loud (he is FOUR YEARS OLD AND HAS ADHD). The housekeeper and the manager never once offered to replace what they broke. DO NOT STAY HERE!! If you rent weekly, it's mandatory that you must let the maid come in twice a week to clean the room while you're out; she broke one of our ashtrays and never said anything to us about it. The rooms had bedbugs and always carried a musty smell. Cleaned the room before leaving and didn't get our security deposit back because one of the towels we used to clean had a spot on it. And the bed was wet after someone showered and sat on it. Money-grubbing and was never planning on giving our deposit back.

Rooms are very clean and nice! The staff is super helpful! I have nothing but good things to say about my stay! I would definitely recommend everyone to give American Best Value a chance!

The older man was not nice..He threaten to call cops because my bf parked his dump truck behind me y car with plenty of room to get around plus it was not busy at all..Not many ppl there..breakfast consist of bread, waffle, and pancakes to put in toaster..milk and OJ was in a mini fridge..spots on ceiling and tub that was gross.. customer services was terrible..was planning to stay a month or so but I will moving once my week is up..they will prob fine a way to keep my $80 deposit

The pillows and blankets had holes and were flat the fridge leaked all over our floor and the staff are very rude . Ice machine was broken . We paid for two nights and never got clean sheets or decent towels everything had holes in them.......

Positive: The staff was really nice. Negative: Rooms where outdated and ran down need a serious upgrade. Was told we had a non smoking room but all you smelled was smoke. Negative: ""

The location of this place is PERFECT. When it is late evening and pulling off the interstate, in search of fast, affordable lodging accommodations, this place glows! After such a glowing feeling of relief, check-in was smooth and almost a value at 75.00! Their sanitation report displayed a 98 score! However, there are plenty of posted memos that there are no reimbursements and that housekeeping must be able to enter every day. (Brain says ...value.... 98 sanitation score and that we are tired) We entered our room, and immediately, the smell of stale cigarette smoke (ex cigarette smoker here) was very, very prominent. We took out our disinfectant spray and sprayed everything. (We should have run! ....even though there are no reimbursements)the room was disgusting, and the amount of dirty stuff on the walls was horrifying. The furniture and bedding are appalling and dont lift the matters cover as it looks like it might have been used by the hour! As, I text this, I am embarrassed for staying there and then texting about it. Disgusting! I will never stay at America best value inn again! Ever.

Checked in on 08/12 at 9:40 p.m. The A/C wasn't working and no lights. Soon as I walked in, you can feel the humidity in the room. Took a shower and ate my food on the bed. Finally got the A/C to work. Lied in the bed to try to sleep. Bed was itchy and felt something was crawling on my skin. Noises of moaning were load from another room through the walls. Left the room at 10:30 p.m. and went to front window to complain stating all this. Woman said no refund policy. I was never told this when I checked in. Just sign paper and gave me room key. Attempted chargeback to my credit card company. They lied and said I checked out at 2 a.m. That's a huge lie. I was already heading North and in Maryland at the time. Do not stay here. Bunch of liars and I'm out $80 for a piece of trash motel. Less than 1 hour stayed there for a rip off.
