I am a widow and was travelling alone. I felt very safe here. This is an older hotel, but as it is now under the Wyndham label maybe they will be doing some updates soon. The rooms, halls and doors are very tired, but the rooms are large enough and clean. Everything functions. As their ad makes clear, this hotel has no elevators, and there are lots of stairs even to reach to hotel lobby to sign in. |I had requested a room on the back of the hotel to be away from the traffic noise, and near the handicapped entrance on the 2nd level. The room satisfied both of these. Getting to my room however, I had to negotiate a paved slope to reach the handicapped entrance, which is below the parking lot. It was not the "level entrance" as I had been told. I had to be very careful not to fall while pulling my suitcase up and down the incline. Fortunately there was a handrail. |The pool on the lower level was full sized. The pool decor had a certain old-fashioned charm. Although it was summer, very few people were in the pool, so I had a nice long swim after a long day on the road. The pool was clean. There is a lovely outdoor patio right off the indoor pool, and a screened door to access it. But once again the patio chairs and tables were old. |The included breakfast was good. The waffles were a hit especially with children, but fruit, yogurt, bagels and cream cheese, and hot and cold cereal were available. The staff on the front desk and in the breakfast room could not have been nicer and more accommodating.|My only complaint is that the entrance hallway to the pool area had very sharp hard plastic honeycomb mats all along, likely to prevent slips on the wet surface, but they really hurt my feet and I couldn't walk on them. So I had to lay towels down on top of them all the way in and out, which was a waste of pool towels but the only way I could get in and out to the pool. They should put something else down on that floor, not those awful sharp edged mats.

First and foremost, the staff is extremely friendly and nice.  That is one thing this hotel does have going for it.  However, if you read the other reviews, you'll see a pattern.  Extremely misleading with their information. We were told right away at check in that the hot tub was out of order.  We were also told that it was recently that the pipe burst, but seeing other reviews, we're sitting at almost 6 months.  The hot tub is in the same area as the Suana, so no Sauna either. The swimming pool was NOT heated.  My wife and I stepped in and turned right around.  Ridiculously cold.  The kids tried for a bit but even my son thought it was too cold. We paid extra for a "walk-out balcony."  There was no balcony.  It was a concrete slab outside out room, that people must mistake for a sidewalk, because we ended up closing the curtains as people kept walking by our room outside door and looking it. There is a sign at the bottom of the stairs that says they have a "game room / vending."  There was a Mountain Dew vending machine.  That's it.  No games. That stuff alone is extremely upsetting with the price that we paid. As for the hotel room itself, it was fine.  The bathroom door wouldn't close without good force, which I did tell the front desk.  She figured something happened with the new carpet and said she'd have maintenance look at it. Overall, we were pretty disappointed with the overall experience.  Definitely looking at a different location next time.

Hotel under construction. NO SAUNA, NO GAME ROOM, NO LAUNDRY, NO HOT TUB all out of order. THE POOL IS NOT heated and was ice cold left the pool with numb hands and toes. Booked for pool and hot tub and was disappointed they were out of order. Very budget friendly for last minute plans. Enjoyed the night, beds are comfortable and had enough pillows. The breakfast was very basic. Not much variety. Only thing fresh is waffles. The TV remote and channels were difficult to navigate and didn't match channel list. TV was pretty small. Parking is plentiful and very accessible. We really enjoyed the back deck with beautiful view(I would suggest relocating two tall trees that block the view a little or remove and replant elsewhere). Some of the updated rooms are nice. Even with minor complaints we will stay again.

Echoing others, staff was friendly! The pool area had an excess amount of dirt on the floors. I’m guessing other guests had worn their shoes inside that area. With that the pool area was not well maintained, and the pool was not heated making it too cold to swim. The other amenities such as the hot tub were out of order. The hotel had a bad smell throughout, they did mention they were light on housekeepers. For the price I did not find my stay worth it.

The biggest drawback was no elevator. Three stories with no elevator. The second story had a ramp to it. The rooms had undergone some remodeling, which was nice, but the price was very high compared to the other three hotels we stayed in Labor Day Weekend. There were still areas in the room that had missing paint, repaired plaster, etc. All the old room junk (mattresses, chairs, etc.) was laying out in plain site and it looked like they had been there a while.

This place was recently purchased by Baymont and has already received some room updates. Our room was clean and decorated nicely. The new LED mirror and beautiful countertop and sink were very nice. It is conveniently located next to a gas station and convenience store. I would recommend and stay here again!

This is a 2 star hotel with outrages prices. The only good thing is that it is clean. The entrance is really bad with steps going down to the lobby. There is a ramp at the end of the building. We were able to open the windows to let some fresh air in.||Besides the upgrades (new beds & carpet) this is a very noisy hotel. We could hear the people in the room above us and in the hallways (above us too) walking/running around. The remote has some kind of yellow goo on it, thank goodness I brought my Lysol wipes. The carpet seemed new and a fresh coat of paint helped but the bathroom was outdated and strangely arranged. ||Breakfast was standard 2 star. ||The prices of hotels in Duluth are outrages, so this was good enough for a 1 night stay. This was the most expensive hotel in our 14 day road trip that we stayed at and the worse. Thank goodness we'll not be coming back anytime soon.

This hotel had the most reasonable rate for a last-minute booking, on a Saturday night in Duluth. Right around $200…not cheap, but nothing in Duluth is. Check in desk is down a set of stairs from the parking lot. Not handicap accessible, but perhaps driving down to the side entrance one could wheel in that way. Not an issue for me, just be aware of it. |I drive an EV so I wanted to plug in if possible. Desk staff said to go ahead and use the outlet on a post right at the parking lot. A bit later when I tried to it, there was no juice. Went back in to try to sort that out, but the desk clerk had stepped away, with a note that they’d be back shortly. I was tired and didn’t want to wait so I skipped the overnight charging. Bummer. |Rooms that face Lake Superior will get a nice breeze off the lake if you open the window. And by nice, I mean cooooooool. It is Lake Superior!|Next morning we had breakfast in their lounge area. Food was basic; hard boiled eggs, cereal, fruit, coffee, a few pastries. Better than nothing and it served as fuel for the morning. I went to check out and same thing, no desk staff. I guess it was just unfortunate timing on my part. |The room was comfy with new carpeting and mattresses due to the coming changeover to a Baymont branded hotel. Bed was comfy and we slept well. The only downsides were two things: the hot and cold lines were reversed on the bathroom sink, so you’d get the opposite of where you set the handle. That’s a 5-minute fix with one wrench. Also the bathroom door was very sticky and didn’t latch. They need to fix that. Otherwise, perfectly fine room, and we did sleep just fine.|I would certainly stay there again if I was on a tighter budget.

We had an incredible stay and loved that it was in the heart of the Lincoln Park neighborhood - there were lots of shopping and breweries within close walking distance. The room itself was amazing, very spacious and stylish and we felt right at home.
