American Inn - Motel in Columbia - 1337 Garner Ln #208, USA

Horrible. I could hear the people above us use the restroom and talk. There were many stains on the couch and lampshades, one of the lamps was just decoration, it wasn’t plugged in or even by an outlet. The comforter had burn holes and smelled like cigarettes, even though it was a tobacco-free room, the laundromat/ice area was disgusting, the furniture was old and run down, and it was in a neighborhood that made me feel very uncomfortable. We tried to cancel our hotels.com reservation but they would not give us a refund. Would not go again.

I made a reservation, roughly 6 weeks ago, and asked for a first floor room, due to my back pain. NEVER heard from them, even though, when I booked through Hotels dot com, I did request a first floor room, and as I always say, if there is a problem, let me know ASAP. Well, they let me know they couldn't accommodate my needs, with less than a week from my reservation date. Really nice, huh ?? So, I scrambled, found a better motel, and get this, for less money, than this place. I've been travelling a lot, north to south, and always go through Columbia. I will never consider booking with these people again. If it takes 5 weeks, to realize you cannot accommodate, perhaps you're in the wrong business.

The room I stayed in smelled so strong of cigarettes I almost threw up, not even kidding. There were stains all over the seat and carpet, the floors didn't look clean, and the bathroom was questionable. The bed was comfy and seemed clean. In the middle of the night, the phone rang multiple times waking me up, just to add to the bad experience. The only reason I didn't ask for a different room is I figure they were all the same and I was exhausted from driving 14 hours non-stop. I would not stay here again.

Just about one year ago, we made a reservation at Regency Inn, used to be called OYO Columbia or something like that. When we got to the hotel, the East Indian owner literally kicked us out of the hotel, claiming he is the new owner, he won't take any previous reservation. Yes indeed we made reservation on hotels dot com. We became homeless instantly even though I reserved and prepaid for it. The owner was so barbaric, not a human of any kind. However the owner of next-door American Inn was very nice and understanding, even allowing us to use their phone to contact hotels dot com. At last the phone call didn't get through, and I paid a reasonable price to stay here at American Inn. Compared to Regency Inn barbaric behaviour, we sought shelter at this motel. I forgot to thank the owner of American Inn.

First room #308, when we hung a small amount of clothes, the rack fell off one side of the wall The microwave interior was filthy. We moved to different room # 309, it had no power to electric outlet, the knob in shower fell off. My husband is disabled vet, I had requested a 1st. floor room but ended up on 3rd. floor. The hotel was not fully booked, both rooms were not very clean. Although the beds were not up to par they were at least somewhat comfortable... on a scale of 1- 10, it would be a 4.5. I would not recommend this unless it's your last dime!

Went to stay for one night and place was pitiful with no return. HAIR strands in the bed, BEARD SHAVINGS on the pillows, the bathroom door never shut and toilet was shaky. Writing on walls, cigarette burns in sheets, and let’s not forget the LUMPS of hair strands in the bed with refusal for return with disappointing customer service within a concerning dangerous area of town.

King room was mostly clean, blood stains on shower curtain. the ceiling looked like it could use some attention but otherwise it was a price appropriate room. Only Pizza hut delivers here at this point in time.

My room smelled like a sigar hall. If you stay more then one night you can come out with some breathing complications. The door chain has been taken off. The bathroom is worse then throws in gas stations. None of the laps turned on. And there is no outlet by the bed. I charged my phone overnight on the sink area. Towels have stains if you look closely. And the toilet seat is older than I am. The lamps are stained as well. (Not sure how that is even possible) please spend an extra 20$ and stay some where livable. From a photo afar it doesn't seem so bad but close up is terrible. I posed photos.
