American Inn & Suites - Motel in Des Moines - 5626 Douglas Ave, USA

It's a run down place. Definitely not 5 star let alone 3 star. Room we saw was.... unappealing. Water pressure not strong. Bed mattress was definitely not firm. Under the bed..need to vacuum or mop....behind the toilet was dirty. We decided not to stay and went elsewhere.

Entire place reeks of cigarette smoke. Your nose might get used to the acrid smell, but your brain won’t. My wife and I asked to switch rooms because the first one had so much accumulated carbon monoxide that we both woke up in the morning with pounding headaches. They moved us to another room that smelt less like cigarette smoke, but smelled more like mold growing on the wall next to the A/C unit. Black mold. No wonder they installed plexiglass separating you and management at the front desk. Perfect get away for ex-cons, active criminals and drug addicts. Really though, no one should be THIS hard on their luck to stay at a dungeon like this. The Des Moines Health Department needs to condemn this place. Absolutely disgusting.

Female manger rude and stuck up refused a room because she claimed she needed all ids for the adults even though room was only going in one persons name worst place over ever stopped at wouldn't let anyone i know rent from this place. Terrible customer service would give it no stars but not possible just terrible lobby stunk and everything

Well I didn't think we would be here long. But this place is great. The people that work here can seem rude or mean but their just doing their job and as long as you are following the rules and being respectful they will bend over backwards for you. I really like this place comfort really is important to me and they make me feel comfortable here. I'd like to thank the people that work here for being cool and understanding keep keeping it real your awesome 🤩

Elizabeth is rude,disrespectful and the worse example of management I ever saw. Rooms stink,lobby smells like cigarettes and urine. Residents are dope heads and dirty. I'd rather sleep in a dumpster!

We were driving from CO to WI and needed a hotel to rest for the night. We called at 10:00 p.m. to ask for a room and we were quickly accommodated. Arriving 45 min later, we entered a very clean room (my most important quality of any hotel) and had an exceptional sleep night. Quiet room, comfy bed, and most of all CLEAN. We left at 6 a.m. so we couldn't enjoy the amenities this hotel offers. For this price, everything that we needed was there. Thank you American Inn & Suites!

When I first arrived here the lobby smelled and I was really thinking twice about it but once I got to my room opened the windows and turned on the ceiling fan and cleaned the room real good and checked the mattress for bed bugs which there was none it is really a good place to stay just mind your own business and pay your rent and you will be good prices for everything is really a good deal it’s a cozy little place to stay I would recommend this place it just needs a little TLC

Staff very rude and disrespectful ..Beware extended stay you will not receive your $200 deposit back. They will make every excuse why your room was dirty. Refuse to give business license number to report to better business bureau. You have to provide your own toilet paper cleaning supplies..theres no trash can no clean sheets.Beds have bedbugs and stained. Horrible place .Definitely not family friendly. Even if you clean your room your deposit will be taken.
