Such a great place to stay! Cora was fantastic, she was totally understanding when I had to call ahead and tell her we would be arriving after check-in, and she was just overall very nice. The room was great, very comfortable bed and a cute aesthetic. Plus there was a delicious diner right in the parking lot that we stopped at for breakfast! The entire inn was really cute, we were honestly disappointed that we only were staying the one night. We will definitely be coming back.

I couldn't talk highly enough. This place and the owners was so wonderful. I'd go bk to their Inn every time I go to MI. The room and building was fabulous. They truly are great ppl and would do anything to make ur stay more comfortable. We came up on my birthday (July 23rd 2023) to take our jeep out on the sand dunes for the 1st time ever seeing MI and was able to check in a day early on short notice and had to end up leaving a day early, but without a doubt the place was wonderful with great ppl. Can't put a price on comfort and friendly ppl. I always check our beds and such and the lady never got offended when I done it right infront of her, she encouraged me....lol.....they rly care about their business and it truly shows. Truly great ppl, always greeted us in the halls and outside and in passing. If ur in the area, you must stop in for a stay. I highly recommend. Elizabeth and Christopher Bryant Richmond, KY

Thank you to the owners for their hospitality! I felt so at home and cozy. Exceptionally clean rooms and building. They put a lot of love and labor in here and it shows! As soon as she knew we drank coffee during the day there was always a pot on and that was so thoughtful. Made sure we had all the things we needed. I will stay here again and can’t wait to come back :)

The owner and his girlfriend seem to take care of this whole place on their own. I give them credit for running a tight ship and keeping things peaceful. That was a great change from other local hotels. The hotel main areas are very clean and tidy, and our room was pretty clean (bathroom felt like it needed a good scour on the tile floors and washing down the baseboards). The room was fine except for two big things - it smelled *very* musty in the room and it killed my allergies all weekend. Also, the mattress was horribly uncomfortable - it just felt very cheap. Other than those few things, everything was fine.

We actually stayed here twice in one week, and both times we had exceptionally clean rooms, comfortable beds, and it's not far from the dunes/beaches. Great value for your money. Friendly, dedicated staff. Will definitely stay here again when in the area.

We were doing a circle tour of Lake Michigan and stayed here for one night. We were going to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes the next day so we wanted to stay close. This was the only hotel that I could find with rooms. I felt like the price was very high for this hotel. The girl at the front desk was not very friendly at all. The ice machine is turned off due to COVID. There is no elevator. It is only 2 floors so it wasn’t an issue for us but if you do have an issue carrying luggage up stairs beware. We arrived around 7 or so and started looking for dinner. There is a restaurant right next door but it closes at 7. The only thing close by that was open was McDonalds. Ugh. The next morning we did go to the restaurant next door for breakfast and it was very good. I would definitely look elsewhere if ever in the area again.

3rd time staying at American Inn. New owners. Rooms still very clean and very quiet - away from the crowds, but still fairly quick drive to the dunes. Person at the front desk was very welcoming and nice. I hope the new owners will keep the same feel as the previous owners. Prices were higher than we paid the past 2 years at this time, and we felt it was high for the amenities. Noticed no flowers in the planters...previous owners took pride in these little touches :)

My family and I arrived at the American Host Inn late in the evening without a reservation. We were greeted by the owner and immediately felt at home. Our room was clean, well decorated, and comfortable. The ac in the room worked perfectly. The mini fridge was convenient and appreciated. Located close the the expressway and near a couple of restaurants out was easy to grab a bit of breakfast and get back on the road.||We will stay again.||P.S. About a week after our stay we received a Thank You post card from the owners. It was a nice gesture that I really appreciated.
