Overall, we had a good stay at Amelia Hotel at the Beach. The location is great! The beach, as well as a public access, are right across the street. The room was dated, but clean. As other's have posted, we too had problems with the AC in our room. When we called the front desk they said to try turning it off and then back on. This included shutting off the thermostat and unplugging the blower from the wall. This did not always produce immediate results. We had to do that everyday for the four days we were there. Sometimes multiple times a day. The outlet the blower/handler was plugged into sparked every time it was touched. Not a safe situation and that is why I am only giving three stars. We should not have had to deal with maintenance issues while on our vacation. Other than the AC we found the establishment to have what we needed with the exception of somewhere to hang wet clothing/towels in the room. The shower did not even have a towel bar in it to hang our wet suits. Being a beach hotel you need something to hang your wet gear on to dry. Some cheap, stand-up towel racks would do the trick. The daily breakfast was good. It was real, fresh-cooked food. Not your typical muffins, hard-boiled eggs etc wrapped in plastic. We were pleased with the breakfast being included. The pool was enjoyable. The hotel even provided pool towels if you ask for them. They had an adequate number of room trolleys for luggage. We did not have to search for one. The hotel itself had decent sound-proofing between rooms, with the exception of the rude people who would let their room doors slam repeatedly at night. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Check-in was quick and without any problems. We were able to check-in an hour early. After our 6.5 hour drive to get there, this was appreciated. Hotels that nit-pick check-in times are so annoying. If they repaired the AC problems, I would definitely stay here again.

I wish I could post the video I took. Beware of mold in the entire room of 229. My husband let the front desk girl know of the amount of mold that was present, she offered to change our rooms, to which my husband asked "can you tell me there won't be mold in there too?" She could not. It's not her fault at all. I went and bought bleach to spray down the moldy windowsill, in the wall vent and on the ceiling in the bathroom. The room phone didn't work, the sink in the bathroom had a leak (which was reported). Maybe we just got the worst room on the property. I booked through Expedia and contacted them about a refund. The rep called the hotel to see about a refund for me, and that request was denied by management. Maybe I should send them my bill for the clorox and my time spent cleaning.

The stay was very comfortable. Rooms were clean. Shower water was hot. Breakfast in the morning was excellent. Staff was very friendly. You're not right on the beach. It is a nice short walk to it. Definitely will stay again.

We came to Amelia with high hopes to have a great weekend getaway. Sadly, this is not what we got when it came to the hotel. The lobby is nice. Smelled good and had a throw back beachy feel. The hallway to the room was also clean and smelled fresh but the moment we stepped into the room, everything changed. The A/C was not working. It was 80 degrees and really really humid and smelled like stale air. We were able to get the A/C on and hoped for the best. Shortly after we noticed a brown liquid oozing from the crown moulding in the corner of the room. The floor was also very dirty and there was mold in the grout between the shower tiles. After spending the night (because it was too late for us to leave that night) we also noticed what looked like a large blood stain on the bed sheet. This was it for us. Thankfully they refunded us in full and on our way back home. The property overall needs help or they may need more cleaning staff that needs some quality checking behind them. Sad we had to cut our stay so short.

Our stay was fine. It was a great location. Room was big but there was too much empty space that could have used a small table. No carpet but the floors were NOT clean. walked around in socks for a little bit and they were black, so nope, not clean. From the moment we walked into our room we had a strong pungent odor of marijuana and garlic. It was bizarre, could smell it in the bathroom and from the air conditioner. We were on the 2nd floor and the entire end of the floor where we were reeked of it. Other people commented to us as well. Paint in bathroom ceiling over the tub was peeling and trying to cover up water damage. Twice in one day the fire alarm went off. Wow, crazy loud, front desk said they were aware. Fire Dept came both times very quickly, turns out (after the 2nd time) one of the fireman told us it was caused by one of those room misters in the hallway that was place right next to a smoke detector. Not smart. He even mentioned how the whole hotel reeked of marijuana. Beds were hard and pillows were not comfy. And it's not a cheap hotel either. I understand it's old but it needs some updating. The paint on our window ledge in our room was also peeling very badly. Not good. We will not stay here again. Not for the price point.

Overall the property was nice. Told the front desk we had an issue with the window leaking, so bad that the water was under the floorboards and when you walked over it, it would seep up through the floorboards... nothing was done. The faucet and the toilet never stopped running which made it hard to sleep. The AC would randomly shut off and we had to power it off and back on. We also heard a clicking noise which drove us nuts the first two nights. Come to find out it was the speaker on the phone clicking. We had to unplug that. No one seemed to care at the front desk. Also the cleaning staff skipped over our room every day for 4 days. The only staff that was really friendly, attentive and nice where the ones serving breakfast in the morning. Nice place, but they need to listen to their guest when they have issues.

Best thing about this establishment will be the location. Service very rude and rooms are definitely not worth $269.00 a night. BEWARE, all the bad reviews of the rooms are true, mold smell, mold in showers and definitely not kept up, sorry to say we will not be using them again.

Check in was easy but everything declined after that. I could smell the stale air as soon as I walked in the room. It looks like there was a leak in the ceiling and they just painted over it. The chair sits right under where the leak was and looks like it got wet but they decided not to remove it. While inspecting the bed I noticed all the stains. Asked the front desk staff about getting the mattress cover replaced and she said she could give me a clean one but I would have to change it myself. It was a king bed so how was I supposed to lift the mattress?! She gave me three sheets instead. I covered the pillows with one and laid on top of the other two. The wash clothes and towels were also dirty. I have really bad asthma so moldy had me coughing all night. They were full so they couldn’t move my room. I had to sleep with the sheet over my head just to breathe. The next morning the guy at the front desk was able to assist me with canceling the remainder of my reservation. Beware of room 128!!!
