Beautiful, restored home with lots information and memorabilia about Amelia and her legacy. The house is kept super cool, so if you get cold easily bring a coat or sweater. My 6 year old enjoyed the scavenger hunt/bingo that they provided an because she was able to find everything she got three prices at the end. The staff were very friendly and informative. Not very busy first thing in the morning on a Saturday. Tickets were very reasonable. Spent about an hour exploring the home.

Such a cool piece of history to learn about. Construction of Amelia Earhart's birthplace and childhood home, located at 223 N. Terrace, initially began in 1861. The wood-frame, Gothic Revival cottage is perched high on the west bank of the scenic Missouri River. Amelia was born in the home on July 24, 1897, to Edwin Stanton Earhart and Amy Otis Earhart. Despite living in many different cities, Amelia considered Atchison her hometown, having spent more of her life in the Otis home than anywhere else. The Amelia Earhart Birthplace represents the most tangible remaining link with the famous female aviator. Dr. Eugene J. Bribach of Atchison, contributed $100,000 to The Ninety-Nines, an International Organization of Women Pilots (to which Amelia not only belonged but also served as their inaugural president) to assist with the purchase and maintenance of the home. WHAT IS OUR MISSION? To preserve the history of Amelia Earhart To honor and recognize the contributions women have made in aeronautics To educate and relate these histories and courageous exploits through local and online exhibits, activities, and events DEDICATION We, the Ninety-Nines, Inc., and the citizens of Atchison, Kansas dedicate the Amelia Earhart Birthplace to this generation and future generations as a museum. We will continue to restore and preserve the home to the period when Amelia lived here, and to portray her life and those of other women aviators.

Excellent museum in Amelia Earhart’s grandparents’ beautiful home. Go see it! But they keep it really cold in there—bring a sweater.✈️💕

The welcome to the museum was friendly and informative. The tour was self guided and they had a scavenger hunt for kids. My nieces really enjoyed it. The museum was interesting, organized and fun.

This was a really great experience and so informative. The house itself is amazing to see and feels like a step back in time. There is a lot of information on Amelia and her life as well as mention of her family and how her hometown of Atchison and her family life helped shape the Woman she became. The QR codes for audio your was an unexpected and enjoyed addition allowing us to explore at our own pace and the ladies working on Saturday July 2nd were outstanding and informative.

With an inspiring evening view looking eastward across the muddy Missouri River and an expansive floodplain agricultural zone, Amelia Earhart‘s birthplace is a sight to behold. Perched high atop, a western Bluff, this well preserved home features stained glass windows on its western flank. I visited the home while traveling northward on the Glacial Hills Scenic Byway in the far north east corner of the state of Kansas. President Abraham Lincoln had visited this stretch of land in one of his campaigns, stopping at Leavenworth, Atchison, and Troy, in what would prove to be a history making western foray. Touring the grounds and surveying the Majestic view of the Missouri left me feeling nostalgic, and somehow strangely at home in this once bustling Rivertown, on the cusp of greatness.

I will always be grateful to Jenny on 12/5 who went out of her way to recognize that a blanket in the lost-and-found was the beloved blanket of our son. He's had it since he was a newborn and we didn't even consider that we had left it in the lobby
