We just spent the weekend at Amazing Grace Bed and Breakfast. Alicia is the perfect bed and breakfast host. We loved visiting with her as much as we loved her delicious food and charming house. My husband and I brought our daughter and two of her friends to Cornell for a college visit. All three teenage girls loved the experience. Our bedrooms were cozy, the bathroom was clean and spacious, and the breakfast room with the warm fire also made for a comfortable sitting room where Alicia was kind enough to bring us tea in the afternoon. We also met and fed the beautiful horses out back. We enjoyed our stay so much that hopefully we will stay there again even if none of the girls goes to Cornell!

Alicia was a great hostess. She incorporates her knowledge and interest in the outdoors into her food and B&B. She served us a type of mushroom that was ABSOLUTELY delicious. If you're not that brave, there were plenty of eggs, fruit, yogurt, etc. Our room with 2 beds was small and cozy but not uncomfortably so. There was a friendly cat to visit with if you like animals, but if you're not an animal person, don't worry, it's not in-your-face. Alicia also has goats and chickens nearby, so this is definitely not geared toward city slickers who aren't into outdoorsy stuff. If you like the outdoors and trying new things, stay here!

The hostess was so wonderful that I would have stayed a week if I could have. My room was warm, clean, and just beautiful. If you are a reader, there are books. If you collect antiques, you will enjoy. She had large, thick towels laid out. The bathroom was so clean and ornate. The hostess offered me snacks in the evening! Her cooking was impeccable, with fruit and coffee, and her own free-range organic eggs, local venison, greens, and herbs. The setting is on beautiful land, with a pond, two horses, and chickens. If you want, you can go cross country skiing with her and feed the horses. If you are looking for just a place to sleep, go to the Super 8. If you want engaging conversation, to feel connected and nurtured, and to be surrounded by beauty, nature, and relaxation, this is your place.

If you're open to a bit of magic or spirit or serendipity, and value really engaging with life and people and the outdoors, then Alicia and Amazing Grace are for you. She's sharing her home and her spirit with you, and both her land and her spirit are lovely. If you just need an efficient place to sleep, pick a motel, but if you can dawdle a little and are up for something a little different, try Alicia. I guarantee beauty and interesting ideas.||||Others have mentioned the breakfasts: indeed, they are incredible - fresh, generous, original, and beautiful - a pleasure to all the senses. I'll include a few pictures.

This was a fantastical experience in a place set apart from the day-to-day activities of the college town. Nestled in the beautiful countryside and surrounded by nature, with 2 friendly horses and a magical hostess. We had a beautiful breakfast with eggs right from the hens, fresh berries and local meats. At night we enjoyed a bon fire and sing along! It was a fun getaway and an unexpected treat. Great place for those who appreciate art and beauty. Rustic and loaded with antiques and mementos in every nook and corner.

Charming home in a beautiful rural setting. The property includes a lovely pond and gardens. The host treated us like family, introducing my children to her horses and other farm animals. She's an excellent cook who doesn't skimp on the quality of the ingredients, and served a hearty breakfast of organic and local foods, including eggs from from her own chickens.

Beautiful. Came with my friend for a wedding. A great stay. Utterly charming and unique. Fire flies in the trees and the fields, horses, a swimming pond and a lovely host. A total delight. Our host even drove us to our wedding which was 20mins away and picked us up afterwards. The house is from the 19th century, full of comfy beds, old books and beautiful paintings.

First the Good: ||||There were beautiful horses and endearing baby squirrels and a dog and a robin's nest and our kids picked two eggs from the chicken coop. There was a bonfire ready to light near the house, if you like that kind of stuff. I do. The location is acceptably close to Ithaca and Cornell but somewhat further removed from the wine trails.||||Then the Bad:||||At check-in, the owner strongly recommended that we change our booked "Artist Suite" to "the house up the road" so that we would "have more space" (we later realized it was because her friends/family were coming over). We were very tired after a long road trip, and anxious to continue to our trip destinations, so we naively accepted this last-second change with only a brief walk-through of the "house", and drove off without even unloading the car.||||The "house" is a tiny 2-BR walk-up with plywood floors, an old electric stove and an old refrigerator. Sheets did not smell fresh. No key to front door was provided so we "would not lose it and lock ourselves out".||||The owner pointed out some cooking implements and showed us some basics in the refrigerator. It did not yet occur to us that we were responsible for our own breakfast at this B&B. This became very clear when we found a bag of bagels on the kitchen table upon our return in the evening. ||||And finally the Ugly:||||In the morning, after our kids ate the top three bagels from the bag, I reached for one myself and discovered green mold all over it (see photos attached).||||The moldy coffeemaker with some previous occupant's moldy coffee gounds made the moldy bagels seem freshly baked by comparison (see photos attached). We used the french press to make some coffee from the stale beans, provided. I fried up some eggs. Did not trust the baggie of coldcuts. From a previous occupant, perhaps?||||The bathroom was unacceptable. The shower stall had vice-grip pliers serving as the cold water knob and chunks of dirt on the shower floor. The toilet was stained. (see photos attached). ||||The owner seemed preoccupied with her friends/family visitors. We had to ask for the WiFi password three times on three occasions before we got it. We froze at night (it dipped into the fifties). The existence of a space heater was revealed on day two, just before we left.||||We booked for two nights. Departed after one.||||We are not a finicky family. We can camp out in a tent if need be, but for $225 a night this left us feeling upset and taken advantage of.||||My wife called the owner the next day to voice our discontent. The owner apologized. ||||This review is not intended to be mean spirited but to supply an honest account and save someone else the anguish.||||A Super 8 motel + five petting zoo tickets will work out much cheaper, cleaner, and with fewer bad feelings.
