Alta Rd. Trailhead Rock Island Trail - Hiking area in Peoria - -2938, 2918 W Alta Ln, USA

This trail is decent for what it is. Rail to trail so you can take a straight shot through many towns. But it’s sort of flat and one note. There are plenty of other cool trails to check out. Like white bread but you just want multigrain.

The trail is nice, and this particular trail head is a great place to park. First off, the parking lot is big. You should never have an issue parking. Secondly, there is an outhouse here as well. And now there's a covered picnic table.

Lots of parking, restrooms, and the trail through the city is in very good condition and blacktopped. Heading out of the city is more gravel but in better shape than most other trails with an occasional rough spot. Lots of trail space and restrooms, spots to look at animals, sit, or picnic along the trail.

First time visiting/biking this trail. Came across a couple snakes on the trail. Made a stop at Trefzger's Bakery...delicious!

Beautiful trail...Good for walking, running, biking, walking dogs etc...Lot of wild flowers on both sides of the trail... Especially during evening time sounds of birds, crickets and the flashing lights of fireflies add to the ambience of the trail.

These trails are really nice. We are new the area and it was great exploring this trails today. There is peaceful walking in a newly developed neighborhood as well as more active trails for bikers, runners and walkers. There is a nice mix of nature walking where you are in the city but it doesn’t feel like it. Good place to check out.

If you want to get in some exercise somewhere nature-ish but not desolate this is a great place. There are homes on either side down to a little farther than Wilhelm north, so if you're alone you always feel pretty safe. Gets a little dessolate further than that or if you're going the southern direction, unless it's a busy day, but the southern direction is paved and the northern direction is dirt. Really love the RIT and this is a great place to catch it.

Beautiful path, wide and long, surrounded by nature, good for running, walking dogs, biking, etc. Not a paved path though, so keep that in mind. Also, almost always has lots of people on it, so not a place to go if you’re trying to be alone.
