Great burgers. And several types of burgers. I experienced the best sweet potato fires ever. Comes with brown sugar topping—skip the topping g to enjoy the fries. Be sure to know what size fries you’re getting. Large fries is a meal!! On my places to stop when I’m in chapel Hill again
Went there with high expectations after reading all the comments, but the food was average. The fries were good, but the burger could be bigger and better. The staff was really good and gelpful. Overall, it was a decent experience
Wow. Eating a Melly Mel with Cheerwine brought me straight back to undergrad with Al’s being a weekly indulgence back then. The taste and quality have not changed. The staff is wonderful too. Melly Mel isn’t fried anymore though, which makes me a little sad. If you have a pup in the car, don’t worry about stopping by. Al’s is very dog friendly with various spots to enjoy the burgers outside. There’s a reason why Al’s is a Chapel Hill staple- it’s the one place I recommend to people visiting from out of town.
I’ve been going to Al’s for years. And normally it’s excellent. However, my most recent visit was very disappointing. Normally, they ask how you want your burger cooked but the past couple of times they haven’t. This time I forgot to tell them and when we got home the burgers were basically seared raw beefy. It’s hard to believe that’s the default so it’s a double fail in my opinion. If you don’t ask your customer how they want the burger cooked you should at least default to medium well.
Not sure if this is related to the new ownership but I’ll definitely think twice before eating at Al’s again.
Edit: I’ve added back a star because, although I prefer medium - the beef was high quality and being rare didn’t affect the taste adversely. It was definitely NOT just a “little pink” - the outside was seared but the interior was uncooked.
The Burgers are Awesome. Cooked the way you want it. I had the Classic burger My daughter had Shawns bacon cheddar burger. Everything was fresh and delicious. The sweet potato fries were Awesomely Great the crinkle cut fries where Great. Score this place a 10
They are nonchalantly Rude ! when it comes to handling refunds on orders they made a mistake on.
This had to be one of my worst experiences I’ve ever had being a student in the Chapel Hill community .
(Saturday Dec 9 . 2023 between
3:40 & 4:00pm.) I came In after ordering 25 mins ahead to purchase my order which I asked to be

“I got no tomatoes & after taking a bite I soon noticed it was still not fully cooked”.
Which destroyed my overall appetite!.

Was Still hoping to repurchase after receiving refund.
But I was verbally assaulted, by the same woman supposed to have been the lead manager on shift .
In the process of receiving an owed refund, I was told “you are the reason businesses get shut down” her lacking some Good customer service experience!
As I was left no choice but to press play & began recording to voice over my opinion. Responding very respectfully & calm to the blatant disrespect & harassing comment.
I am very disappointed, left with nothing I came for . Try at your own risk . hopefully receiving a better experience than I did.
Really an excellent burger place. The burgers are $8.5 and up, which is very expensive even in Chapel Hill, but they are of a higher quality than competing, cheaper burger joints. So it's probably appropriate. Their milkshakes are mostly just Maple View ice cream, which is excellent, so I recommend the chocolate. I've found both of the cashiers there to be very friendly.
First time eating here.. Friendly staff.
Very cute, cozy outdoors set up. Burger was fresh but small. Fries were nice and crisp/fresh but seasoning was different than we are used to.

Epic 100 year-old drug store on Franklin. Scores of students, locals and visitors flock here for diner classics for breakfast or lunch.
The triple deckers and burgers are the things to grab IMO. Next time weâre in CH weâll give breakfast a try.
Elevated burgers in a college town burger joint. The beef is flavorful not too salt you and the patties are thick. Cooked accurately. The veggies are fresh and crisp. Bison is an option. They have lots of options for building your own burger as well
I canât say enough good about FBY. Since starting classes last October, Iâve experienced significant improvements in my strength & flexibility, and my overall stress level is noticeably reduced. In every class, instructors guide students to find
We took advantage of the beautiful weather one Saturday and drove 2.5 hours to the farm.
We paid general admission and got a pumpkin to carve with the goats.
The farm is small, organized, clean and very well cared for. They truly care about the anima
What a wonderful place! I obtained the required permit online before my visit from the reserve's website. There are two parking areas, a southern one by Parker Preserve and a northern access point behind the golf course. The northern access point req

I could not begin to give enough praise to the SECU family house in this paragraph. My husband and I spent 55 days there. We couldnât have done this without this awesome place. The staff really makes you feel at home and as comfortable as possible.
