We had an unbelievably wonderful experience at the Alexander Mansion. Richard was an incredibly welcoming and kind host. Staying in the Mansion felt like staying in a museum, and we enjoyed Richard telling us about the house's history. We ended up doing some hiking and going out to dinner (Richard had some wonderful recommendations) but he has board games, a library full of books, wine, coffee/tea if people wish to hang out at the house. Every course of the breakfast was unbelievably good, ending with ice cream sundaes. All the other couples we ate breakfast with were incredibly friendly. We really wish we had stayed a second night. We will absolutely be back- thank you for such an amazing stay!
Richard’s meticulously restored 1886 bed and breakfast mansion is a dream from another era. From the moment you step inside, you're transported to a world of Victorian opulence and grace. The mansion itself is a masterpiece of architectural preservation, with ornate woodwork, period-appropriate furnishings, and the remarkable centerpiece, a beautifully preserved stuffed peacock that makes you feel like you've stepped into a time machine. The true jewel in the crown of this splendid mansion is Richard's dedication to ensuring a memorable experience for his guests. His warm and gracious hospitality is second to none. From the moment you check in, you feel like a cherished guest in his home. Richard's knowledge of the mansion's history adds an extra layer of depth to your stay, making it not just a vacation but an educational journey back in time. And then there's the breakfast - a culinary delight, expertly prepared and elegantly presented. The four-course breakfast served in a sumptuous dining room, is a symphony of flavors and presentation. Each dish is carefully curated, beautifully plated, and you'll savor every bite. What truly distinguishes this bed and breakfast is Richard's unwavering commitment to excellence. He goes the extra mile to ensure that every guest enjoys a memorable and luxurious stay. For those with an adventurous spirit, his local recommendations add an extra layer of excitement to the experience. Conversely, for those who prefer to unwind in the mansion, Richard offers a nightly wine social, providing the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy the Victorian ambiance. I eagerly anticipate my next visit to this hidden gem, where the past and present harmonize seamlessly.
We loved our stay at the Alexander Mansion! Richard was such a pleasant host and really makes each guest feel like royalty! From the delicious and very thoughtful breakfast, to the wonderful and historically informative conversation, we had the best time! We would highly recommend it!
Fabulous B & B with wonderful service and care from the owner. We were greeted and offered a beverage while he toured the other guests through the Mansion and to there room, which they had arrived before us. When Richard returned, we talked some, he gave us great ideas and places for dinner. We then toured the Mansion and were shown to our room. LOVED the D.C. Alexander Suite with the adjoining sun-room. Large spacious room but still cozy. Over 100+ heat index and room was cool and comfortable. Very clean and lots of attention to detail. Had 2 bottles of water in the room which was really nice. Breakfast was delicious and very filling!!! Bought a souvenir mug to remember our stay as we enjoyed our time there. Loved the screened in porch around the Mansion as a great place to enjoy morning coffee or read a book.
This place is truly remarkable. It is by far the best place you can stay in and enjoy your vacation. Richard is a great host to everyone, greets everybody by himself, and ensures you feel at home. He also has quite the book collection, which, if you love books like I do, you will only fall in love with and appreciate. The cook is also very talented, and the breakfast is worth dying for. We sadly only stayed one night but will for sure come back again to catch up with Richard.
Richard created a memorable experience for us from the moment we arrived until we left. A five course breakfast that was absolutely delicious! He gave us a tour of the home and explained the history. Some special treats!! We have stayed in several B&Bs and this was at the top of the list. We will be back again. Wonderful job of restoring the home. Thank you Richard for sharing your home with us!

The trails are well maintained and very lovely. We went early in the morning and were met with a mostly empty area which was nice. There are some spots that can be dangerous but overall it was a good hike. And the views were amazing. Plan at least an
You have to visit this plays for some delicious Japanese food. Staff at the restaurant was extremely kind and helpful. We had our one year old son with us and she was so nice to him (gave him something that her kid likes.) Our kid liked it as well. B
We were searching for a place to eat after taking a river cruise and we were happy to find this place open before 4:00, as many local restaurants are not. The first thing we noticed when we walked in was the amazing aroma. We ordered at the counter f
Ice cream was okay, clean shop and staff worked fast. I had a scoop of the Superman which I didnât like and I had a scoop of the cherry flavor which was basic. I heard their shakes are good though.
This has become my new favorite State Park. On the bluffs so you have hardly any mosquitoes. Very quiet and the bathhouse is new and clean. The views are amazing and the hikes are all very manageable.
My boyfriend brought me here when we first started dating and weâve gone frequently since â¥ï¸! Itâs turned into my favourite restaurant, and Iâm going to be grieving the loss of this place no longer being nearby when I move to the city later
This place is a trip. I went to Winona with no intentions of going to the polish museum, but when we walked by and it was free admission we said "why not?" It is really cool because it isn't like a traditional museum. Everything is out in the open, n
