First off, it was clean and safe. I received a text with directions to check in, and that went smoothly. The room did not have air conditioning. Evidently none of the rooms with 2 queen beds have AC. It was hot here, and the box fan provided didn’t cut it. The office never appeared to be open to ask for additional fans. Our bed frame was broken and unstable as well. The pool and hot tub are empty, and it’s peak summer. Overall, for a winter stay maybe it would be fine, but I wouldn’t stay in the summer again.
Good Until The Wheels Came Off. We actually really wanted to like this place and initially did. It's old style Tahoe with a good vibe. The king bed was very comfortable and the room was a good size. The courtyard has lots of sitting areas under the trees and plenty of games. It's affordable and close to the beach. The management is responsive but off-site (more on that later). We decided to live with the bathroom sink that took forever to drain. The privacy curtains when closed for privacy at night, block the AC, making the room warmer than we liked. We played with the curtains and used a belt to partially remedy. A quick solution would be to have the curtains shortened to drop just below the window sill and the above the AC, giving privacy and cool air. Back to the off-site management. On our second night a large group decided to blow through the 9pm quiet hour and kept the party going until 11pm. It was annoying as we like our sleep. Because it's an old building it was as if they were in our room. We contacted management and they did respond quickly and indicated they would send a text to other guests they thought might be the group making all the noise. We don't think it worked but the group finally shut it down at 11pm. We are sure management wasn't please about the noise but not having an on-site manager meant there was no way to change the problem. Then on the following morning, no hot water. We don't know if it was just all gone (we got up late) or something broke overnight. We likely won't return and we're disappointed we couldn't love it as much as we wanted too.
I cannot say enough great things about Sam the manager at Alder Inn. I have to frequently book rooms for employees and used to book through a booking website until the day I had to call to add an extra room. Ever since Sam does all my bookings for me. He is kind, efficient, communicative & friendly. Some of the best customer service I have ever experiences. Thanks Sam!!!
We had a great stay at the Alder Inn the weekend of the ACC. The location was perfect and in close proximity to Whole Foods and other restaurants. The room was very clean, the bed was cozy, had nice touches to make you feel like you were at home in Tahoe. There is a little area outside where we ate pizza (highly recommend Basecamp Pizza!) and a corn hole area and also other games to entertain the family! The walls were not thin so you couldn’t hear anyone that was around you. Definitely would stay at the Alder Inn again.
I stayed at the hotel for one night. The place is very clean and well-maintained. I arrived a bit earlier than my check-in time, but the staff were extremely friendly and helped me check in early. The location is also excellent.
I've stayed at Alder Inn a couple of times now, once as a couple and the other solo. Both times I found the rooms to be clean, comfortable, warm and reasonably well equipped with the usual towels, soap, shampoo but also a little fridge and a microwave and a coffee machine. The TV works too! I didn't get to meet the owners but they were in touch via text the whole time, gave me detailed instructions and were super helpful with anything else I needed. It's super close to Heavenly, about 30m out from Sierra at Tahoe and more importantly, walking distance from Red Hut Cafe and Free bird Chai, both incredible morning spots. Overall - super convenient, clean and moderately priced, would strongly recommend.
First impressions was extreme disappointment-checked in and straight back out. |The photos on all the booking sites do not show true representation of room 7. It is behind boarding and chain fence next to an abandoned pool. Dustbin outside room. No natural light only lighting in main room was bedside lights. Furniture shabby. |Walked in, sat on bed and booked somewhere else ! |Don’t believe photos - no idea how it can have a 4.3 rating.
Great location , friendly service, very thoughtful property with a focus on the guest experience. The no contact check in/out is well thought out. My only recommendation is to confirm your room payment in advance as some web booking sites do not charge until your arrival. So since there is no physical check in person on location and how automation can be I'd make sure you confirm your reservation and payment in advance. There is a 24hr phone number to call for any issues. The property and the rooms are well maintained, clean, walking distance to the marina.
The place is really nice, the water is crystal clear but very cold. It's worth it to pay the $5.00 fee to see this beautiful place. In the middle of it there's an old house, scary but beautiful.
Went with my daughter and husband and came from the heavenly line since the wait at the resort was 2 hours! They helped us right away and we were able to get all the equipment we needed in a reasonable time frame. The staff are super friendly and acc
Beautiful hike to Eagle Lake that took about 30 min after the bridge. This time of year there was snow and ice on the trail that made it slippery but was worth the quick trip up and back.
Took this trail to go to Cascade Falls. It's flat for the first 5 mins or so and then becomes rocky and risky at the corners.
There is some construction work going on in the area so they have put up temporary boards marking the trail. Good job!
